Chapter 645: In-game items in real world?
“Hi bro, what’s up? Been a while.” Damon waved his brother over. “Where is the little monkey?”
“She is sleeping.” John casually answered. He did not seem to be that bothered by basically staying in a lockdown in the castle.
“You are not angry?”
“Why?”
Instead of John, Georgina, his sister-in-law, cut in with her venomous voice. “Why would he be angry over anything? A man needs to have a pair of balls to have that sort of emotion. Don’t you know? Your brother lost his. Now he is basically a fucking woman who does fucking fishing all the time!”
John inhaled slowly. “Georgina, we talked about this.” He calmly spoke.
Georgina, however, seemed to be on one of her bitch rants. Damon felt a headache coming on. He had absolutely no interest whatsoever in listening to the hateful woman. He simply moved away and walked over to Nevin and Sylvara.
“How is your grandfather doing now?” Damon asked. He was actually looking for them because he had something to give to the old man. The good thing about soul space is that he could carry things into the game world, but he could also carry things out of the game world.
“I have a soul-mending potion for him. It’s not the best, just a version of what is in the works, but there should be no harm in trying. Kate used the same thing a while back.”
Nevin’s head snapped up in surprise, his usually steady composure flickering for a moment. “Really?” Nevin asked, stepping closer. “You… you actually have something that can help Grandpa?”
Damon nodded and reached into his soul space with a lazy flick of his fingers, as though retrieving items from the depth of his soul was as casual as pulling mints from his jeans.
Both Sylvara and Nevin gawked at him. Since when could one take out in-game items like this?
The only person they knew who could do this was their grandfather, but Artimius was a monster in his own right. Damon couldn’t possibly compare with him, and even Artimius had his own limitations. Yet… somehow the impossible was happening right in front of their eyes.
“It won’t fix everything,” Damon said softly, “but it’ll stabilize the soul and give him a safer window to heal. It also has some amount of healing ability. Kate’s soul had basically collapsed when I used the first prototype, and she survived. So your grandfather, someone with actual talent, should have no issues.”
Sylvara’s knees nearly buckled. This was something completely unexpected. She couldn’t even believe if this was all real or if she was dreaming. “I… I don’t know how to thank you.”
Damon smiled. “I am just returning the favor. Its not a big deal. First give him the potion and let’s see how helpful it is. Here take these also. Give him a bunch. Kate drank nearly fifty of these potions.”
Damon took out ten potion bottles and handed it over to Sylvara. “Take these 10. When I log back into the game, I will retrieve more for you. I wanted to make sure that everything works well before shoving a bunch of potions into my body.”
Behind them, Georgina’s voice erupted again at maximum volume:
“John! I swear to god, if you walk away when i’m talking to you…”
John’s calm voice responded, “Georgina, please lower your volume.”
Georgina shrieked. Damon massaged his temples.
Sylvara glanced in that direction uneasily. “Then I will excuse myself and tend to grandfather first.”
Damon smiled bitterly. “You should. Take care and tell me as soon as you see any improvements. It is time the old man became better.”
Damon then quickly ushered everyone to go upto the huge terrace of the castle. The terrace opened into a sweeping panorama of endless blue, waves glinting under the sunlight, wind rolling over the castle in gentle breaths.
Compared to the chaos echoing inside the halls, the open air felt like a sanctuary. Damon exhaled slowly, letting the tension bleed out of his shoulders as he stepped onto the stone tiles.
The vast ocean calmed everyone quite a bit and his rowdy family became somewhat docile. Of course, the food served also had a lot to do with it. Their mouths became busy with eating and less engaged with arguing.
Damon sighed in relief. His family was normally very chaotic but putting them all on lockdown in the same space seemed to have made everything that much worse. Luckily, he would be able to end all of that today.
He leaned his elbows against the terrace railing, watching as the salty breeze nudged the waves into soft, glittering wrinkles. Behind him, plates clattered, spoons scraped, and the unmistakable sound of his mother lecturing his father about cholesterol drifted through the air.
Aurora drifted beside him and started feeding him some fish. Seeing this, Kate walked over and started feeding him some fruits from her plate with enthusiasm. Damon awkwardly accepted both but the next second, he felt several pairs of eyes on him.
His father and his brother gave him strange looks while his mother weirdly seemed happy. She clasped her hands together, eyes sparkling with maternal pride.
Damon cleared his throat awkwardly. Before things could become any weirder, he announced the good news to everyone. “Guys, its time to get back to the game world. I think I finally have a way to create a safe haven for everyone.”
Damon quickly explained his plan of taking the castle with him in his soul space and how his parents and everyone could teleport in and out whenever they want. The nittygritties of the plan still had to be worked out but for most parts, they should be able to do this much.
Everyone immediately became silent which was followed by a lot of questions. Ultimately, Damon did not have many answers. He would have to do it to see how it worked. Soon, he decided to jump in and go for the first try.
Blood wings appeared on his back as he flew up from the terrace floor. He then willed for the entire castle to get into his soul space.
