Chapter 643: It was nothing much
La Rocha froze. His gloved hand, poised elegantly on the tea tray like he was about to critique Damon’s posture, began to tremble. His eyes widened, the pupils shrinking to pin-dots as he stared at Damon, as he had just witnessed a newborn duckling casually lift a mountain.
“You… you opened your soul sea?”
Damon leaned back into the couch and gave him a lazy grin. “Mm-hmm.”
“How? How is it possible? You entered the Ascended realm already? But you were just… no, no, no way… absolutely not!” La Rocha’s voice pitched up an octave, then another, until he was practically screeching. “This defies every foundational law! It is simply impossible!”
The tea tray clattered in his hands.
Aurora, who was happily curled up on Damon’s lap, blinked and looked at Damon in a daze. From the twinkling stars in her eyes, it was clear that she was also aware of the soul sea. “Hubby, you really opened up your soul sea?”
“Mmm.. Hmmm…” Damon nodded. “It was nothing much.”
“Nothing much? Nothing much? What the hell are you talking about? Since when did you, a brute gorilla, become so adept with the soul? What kind of fortuitous encounter did you come across? Tell me everything in detail! I need to do in-depth research on this!”
Seeing his reaction, Aurora snorted into Damon’s neck, trying very hard not to laugh. Damon just smirked and stroked her thigh lazily.
“We can talk about all of that later. For now, let’s come to more important things, shall we? Aren’t you bound to my soul?” Damon smirked and then leaned forward with a wicked look. “So how about you try and enter my soul space?”
La Rocha went rigid. Then… Clang. He dropped the tray. Porcelain shattered across the marble floor. “You… you want me… to enter your soul space?” He whispered, voice barely audible. “You have lost your mind, ant. Do you really think that opening a weak soul sea would enable you to house my brilliance? You will explode! You will cease to exist! Your mind and soul will be shattered!”
Damon frowned. “Hmmm… Are you saying the truth, or are you just trying to keep me from your precious fortress? You know you are not supposed to lie to me, right? Contractually.”
“Of course, I am not lying, you arrogant fool. You might have stepped on some shitty luck and somehow opened up your soul sea, but you won’t survive if I try to integrate with your soul space. My existence alone would crush your puny foundation! Your soul walls would implode like wet paper mashed by a divine boulder! You would die. Horribly. Painfully. And very stupidly!”
Aurora blinked, impressed. “Wow. He’s really scared of your awesomeness, hubby.”
“I am not scared of anything!” La Rocha snapped. “I am concerned. Concerned for the integrity of my irreplaceable brilliance, which may be damaged if your flimsy soul explodes around me!”
Damon raised a brow and then chuckled. “So you are indeed scared of my awesomeness and my handsomeness.”
“He He… how could he not? My hubby is the most handsome and awesome guy in this entire world. No, in the whole wide cosmos!”
Aurora leaned in for a kiss with a fanatic look on her face. Damon entertained her and captured her lips. He took it one step further and darted his tongue inside his girl’s mouth and purposefully kissed her in a very explicit manner, their tongues dancing in and out and exchanging saliva.
It was obnoxious, unnecessarily vulgar, and it made the artifact spirit want to destroy them both right then and there.
La Rocha was boiling on the side. “I am not joking, you pitiful ants. Don’t even try something ridiculous like that. You will die without leaving even your disgusting saliva behind. Do you understand?”
Damon made sure to ignore him and continued with the kissing, even adding a few more sound effects with the moans and the groans. Finally, after a couple of minutes of so, he stopped and shifted his gaze to La Rocha, licking his lips and cleaning all the saliva.
“That’s fine. Thanks for the warning. I will not do that. I guess I need a stronger soul to achieve something like that, huh. Forget it. Instead, how about you just transfer this castle inside my soul space? I mean, it’s just a building with a bunch of people. Surely, you must be able to do something like that?”
La Rocha pinched the bridge of his nose with the exhausted despair of a man who has endured far too much stupidity for one lifetime. “Yes. Yes. I can do that. I can put your stupid castle in your soul space. Now, is there anything else?”
Damon grinned. “He He. Why? Do you have somewhere you need to be?”
La Rocha grimaced.
“Well, I guess you will have a lot of butler duties and such. By the way, why don’t you prepare a feast for all of us? We are planning to have a meeting in a bit, and everyone will be coming back here for a get-together.”
La Rocha gave Damon a strange look, but he did not say anything. The artifact spirit nodded and prepared to go when suddenly Damon spoke up again. “By the way, do you have any poisons? Venoms or potions and such?”
La Rocha paused and turned around with a puzzled expression on his face.
“Sure, I cannot bind your whole fortress in my soul space, but I can definitely take with me a few potions and such? It’s time to open up your purse strings a little, dude. You can’t keep me from your precious collections forever. What use is a centuries-old artifact if I can’t even access some of your little drinks and trinkets?”
La Rocha’s face twisted into an ugly expression, but Damon only laughed. “Come on, buddy. I have waited a while now. Don’t you think it’s time you start coughing up some payments?”
