Chapter 641: Can’t run anymore
Aurora immediately forgot everything the moment the kitten touched her palms. Her eyes sparkled, and she hugged the little creature so tightly that the kitten’s eyes squeezed out.
“Kyaaa! So cute! Hubby, look! Look at her tiny paws! LOOK AT HER LITTLE FACE!” Aurora squealed, rubbing her cheek against the kitten like a deranged maniac.
The kitten, meanwhile, stared at Damon over Aurora’s shoulder with pure betrayal. You sold me out.
Damon didn’t even try to defend himself. He simply dusted off his shirt and exhaled in relief. Aurora was too busy smothering the kitten to interrogate him further.
Or so he thought.
Because as she cuddled the kitten, her golden-black eyes slid back to him lazily before narrowing ever so slightly. “You still didn’t answer my question.”
Damon tensed. “What question?”
Aurora pointed at the silver strand stuck to his shirt. “Were you spending some time with Lirae?”
Damon chuckled awkwardly and nodded. “Yes.” He then froze. For a moment, he sensed a murderous aura from the girl, but she quickly went back to being playful and cuddling. “It’s alright, hubby. You don’t have to beat around the bush with me. I know and understand how a harem works.”
Damon raised a brow, sensing that something more was coming, and there it was. “As long as you spend the same amount of time with me.” Aurora beamed.
That was not the smile of a loving girlfriend. That was the smile of a woman casually negotiating terms with the confidence of a war goddess who fully intended to win.
He cleared his throat carefully. “…The same amount of time?”
Aurora nodded sweetly, hugging the kitten until its tiny paw stuck straight up like it was surrendering to fate. Damon stared at her for a second before bursting into laughter. “You crazy devil. Fine, alright. I will get you later today, and I will make sure you regret these words. You better be prepared for it.”
“…Regret?” she asked softly, blinking her eyes wide.
Damon smirked. “Oh yes. Deeply.”
Aurora’s cheeks flushed pink, her fingers tightening around the kitten, who was now kicking its paws furiously. “You…” She muttered, eyes suddenly refusing to meet his. “You can’t just say things like that out of nowhere…”
Damon stepped closer, lowering his voice. “You started it and don’t pretend to be a shy angel. I know everything you like.”
Aurora became even more flustered. “That’s! Hubby!”
Damon chuckled again. “You wanted equal time, right? Then be ready.”
Aurora opened her mouth to argue, only to shut it again. For once, she looked embarrassed. Actual, genuine flustered embarrassment. The kitten, now half-crushed against her chest, stared at Damon with newfound horror.
No. Don’t provoke her. She’s unstable.
But Damon wasn’t done. He leaned forward until his breath tickled her ear. “Later,” he murmured. “Just the two of us. It’s definitely going to be more than an hour.”
Aurora’s knees visibly wobbled. Her grip loosened, and the kitten dropped three inches before she caught it again at the last second.
And just like that, the badass Queen was tamed into becoming a shy little angel.
“Anyways…” Damon pinched her cheeks and asked. “Do you know what’s going on? Why are there so many vampires in the Blood Hall?”
Damon already kind of knew the answer to this question. The main families must have gotten busy with the expansion. But the thing was… it was a bit too soon? He wondered if something had triggered this sudden movement?
While talking to Aurora, he also pulled up all the chat groups, and then he saw it.
The Abyss!
Aurora also started talking about the same thing. “Y-yeah, it’s been really chaotic since yesterday. Everyone is running around talking about how the abyss has suddenly started expanding. Right now, the abyssal lands have overtaken the entire Kingdom.”
“This was why I was waiting for you. Hubby, let’s go there together and explore. Please. Please. Pretty please. I am very strong hubby. Trust me. I can deal a lot of damage.”
Damon chuckled absent-mindedly and nodded. “Okay. When I go, I will take you along, but it won’t be anytime soon.” He still remembered the creepy psycho woman who chased him and almost managed to nab him. He was far stronger today, leagues stronger than the version of him she had hunted before. But even so…
He wasn’t sure. He still wasn’t sure he could face her head-on. Previously, he planned to avoid this problem for the foreseeable future, but now everything has changed. He did not know how much longer he could keep avoiding, especially when things are progressing at this speed. He no longer had the luxury of hiding from problems.
“So let me guess… While the Light Faction is busy throwing all their manpower into containing the Abyss… the Crimson Mountains want to attack from the opposite side and snatch as many cities as possible.”
Damon chuckled. “Well, I would also do the same thing. Alright. Time for us to jump right into this. Also, where is Mark? Did you see that big guy? We need to launch our guild. We need to crank it up on all sides and take the center stage now when war is all the rage. There is nothing more profitable than war.”
Aurora nodded with sparkling eyes. She knew Damon was no longer talking to her and pretty much just thinking out loud, but she did not care. She just loved listening to him.
“Everybody should be in different places. So let’s just have a meeting in the real world to kick start things. Also, there is another important thing I need to test out.” Damon’s pulse raced with excitement as he was finally going to test out something he had been looking forward to for a while now.
He had waited and waited and waited, and now it was time.
“Aurora, can you message everyone to log out of the game?” He kissed her on the forehead and then quickly activated his tattoo to log out of the game and get back to the real world.
