Inside the legacy world, Damon’s SPA session unexpectedly came to an abrupt end. He frowned as he opened his eyes and clicked his tongue in annoyance. He was so close to some sort of a breakthrough when he felt yanked out of the pleasant environment all around him.

Moreover, he sensed something wild. His endless parasite numbers had all of a sudden started dwindling. Instead, a new presence appeared in the shadow pool. Did somebody notice something? That had to be it!

Something was clearly not right, and Damon became alert. He quickly dismissed all of his minions, pets, and whatnots. The last time around, that crazy bitch inside the abyss had destroyed his abyss hounds. He did not want something similar to happen this time.

He had somehow amassed a sizeable shadow beast army, and he intended on keeping it. Moreover, they had been scavenging for a while now. At least some of them should have collected something impressive. There was no way he was going to lose out on those precious treasures.

He quickly dismissed everything, including the kitten. Except the naughty little thing plainly refused to get inside. After attempting a few more times, Damon gave up on that for now. He had more important things to worry about right now.

Without wasting any more time, he shook off the parasites, got out of the shady pool, and grabbed the kitten by the scruff like a rebellious toddler and hauled her out of there. He barely made it when suddenly the entire mountain quaked and trembled and started collapsing.

A deafening rumble tore through the legacy world. Stone shattered. Shadow essence exploded in violent waves.

That was not all. Amidst the collapsing mountain, the shadow pool boiled. From within the churning darkness, a pitch-black figure slowly rose. He was dripping in parasites from top to bottom. Millions were crawling across his body like living armor.

His entire being emitted a thick shadow aura, several times powerful than what Damon had seen before.

As for who this was… Damon had a good idea. The First!

Not that he planned to stick around to confirm his theory. The damned assassin had undergone some sort of extreme makeover, and Damon could tell that he was several times more powerful now.

The guy turned into a black blur as he bounded towards him once more, and this time, both his speed and his power were off the charts. The entire world seemed to roar around him. Shadow beasts from every corner of the collapsing world let out a unified, ecstatic howl, a primal call welcoming their new King.

It was as if something inside the legacy world had recognized him, chosen him, and appointed him as the one in charge of the whole damn thing.

Damon’s shadow affinity was already in the A rank and definitely crossed it even. But the guy in front of him was still at a huge advantage. It was only fair considering the guy completely gave himself to these parasites.

However, Damon was not about to stand and fight under such an overwhelming disadvantage. Especially inside this legacy world, that guy was not ridiculously overpowered. There was no point in risking things anymore.

Besides, his instincts told him that this man in front of him was a mere puppet. Then who was controlling him?

Damon did not want to find out the answer. He got some profits, and now he called it as he started madly running for his life. He did not dare use the shadows, not inside the world. He used Blink and ran to the portal at top speed.

Thanks to the First being still disoriented slightly after emerging from the shady pool, the guy was not as lethal as he could be. Damon used this chance to run as fast as he could.

Blink after Blink, Damon sprinted toward the portal. The collapsing world roared behind him. He nearly reached the exit before things turned even worse.

The portal started pulsing widely, and huge amounts of shadow energy blasted outward. Shadow beasts emerged all around him, hundreds and thousands of them.

Behind him, First’s figure finally stabilized as he once more became a black blur and disappeared. Damon knew it was only a matter of a second before shit hits the fan. Without hesitation, he plunged into the roaring portal and disappeared.

Thankfully, the portal wasn’t destroyed. It looked like it was just enlarged or peeled open. Along with him, shadow beasts of all sorts blasted out into the world. None could touch him past his blood barrier.

Also, Damon doubted that they would actually follow him. Once they are out of the legacy world, they no longer hold the home ground advantage, and that was a huge deal. Just as he expected, the beasts showed no inclination to follow him.

Damon shrugged. This was no longer his problem. He was just about to take off when he saw some familiar faces and some unfamiliar faces. He also managed to catch the end of a very passionate speech from the vampire lord.

“…you will never have any wants or needs,” the vampire was proclaiming, cape fluttering dramatically, “once I retrieve him from the abyss…”

Damon raised a brow. Well, that was new. A vampire lord being so honorable and valiant? His lips curled into a slow, deeply entertained grin.

Without warning, he stepped forward, grabbed Aurora, Lirae, Ellora… and then Alzara, who was just standing there, staring at him. He hauled them all along and only stopped when he was several miles away from the collapsing ruins.

Behind them, Norosse was still frozen mid-heroic speech, mouth hanging open, cape fluttering dramatically in the wind… with absolutely no audience left. However, he couldn’t follow Damon and run away just as easily.

The fully transformed First was already outside, and the man controlled the shadows around them like a deviant. Right off the bat, shadows coalesced around one of the vampires and ripped him apart before he could fight back.

Norosse stared at the scene with absolute fear and dread. It finally dawned on him. He was fully and completely fucked.
