Chapter 634: His sisters, perhaps?
Ellora clutched her staff. “Where…?”
Aurora didn’t answer. She took a single slow step forward, eyes narrowing as she scanned the ruins. A pair of wings flashed behind her back as she prepared to go all out and fight.
Seeing her, Lirae and Ellora also prepared themselves.
Norosse and the troops also unleashed their auras. Norosse, in particular, went one step further.
His aura surged outward in a brilliant red flare, kicking up a shockwave of sand and dust. He let it grow, expand, and swell until it roared across the ruins like a storm. His soldiers followed suit, releasing their own power, forming a wall of bloodlust and force.
But the next second, Aurora immediately shut him down. “You all are too noisy. I’m trying to find hubby. Also, I don’t think the other side wants to attack us. So don’t start something hastily.”
Norosse froze mid-flare, aura still crackling around him like a firestorm abruptly robbed of purpose. The abrupt command, delivered in Aurora’s deceptively soft voice, landed like a divine decree.
His soldiers, who had been roaring, snarling, baring their fangs, fell silent in a heartbeat. Aurora was completely oblivious to it, but all of the vampire lord’s troops could feel it. Their lord was currently angry. Furious, in fact.
Norosse clenched his jaw, trying to salvage his pride. “My Lady, with all due respect, I am a Blood General. I know how to-”
Before Norosse could finish spewing his indignation, another set of troops emerged from the other side of the ruins. It was led by none other than the Great Western Desert Empire’s princess, Alzara.
Alzara’s stride didn’t falter when she spotted them. Her soldiers fanned out behind her, an elite unit of desert warriors bearing the Emperor’s crest, each one more imposing than the last.
“Hmmm?” Aurora frowned.
While she did not recognize the other party, Lirae and Ellora did. “That’s… Princess Alzara,” Lirae whispered. “And those are the Emperor’s personal elite.”
But even without recognition, Aurora’s instincts flared. These soldiers were not normal. Their presence was not casual. The sands trembled under their disciplined steps. Each and every single one of them was a seasoned C-rank veteran.
Despite her questionable attire, Princess Alzara moved like a walking spear, sharp, focused, dangerous. Her armor gleamed with condensed desert mana, and the sigil on her crest pulsed with faint light.
Norosse’s jaw dropped on seeing her. Another beauty! He had sighted another beauty just like that. The day was getting better and better!
Since he was obviously the most powerful person here, he took the responsibility of being the diplomat. He straightened his back, smoothed his hair, flashed his most aristocratic smile, and declared grandly. “Ahem. I am Lord Norosse Valtair, Fourth Blood General of the Crimson Mountain. We do not mean any harm. We are here to investigate these assassins.”
Princess Alzara did not respond. On her behalf, one of the Generals next to her spoke. “In that case, we will not have any conflict. We are also here for the same purpose, to investigate the assassins.”
Then suddenly, Alzara opened her mouth as if she remembered something. “Do you by any chance know someone called Blood God?”
Lirae frowned. “Why do you ask, Princess?” Many thoughts entered her mind. Why were the troops of the Great Western Empire here? Were they by any chance also colluding with the Umbra’s hand? Was this the reason her betrothed hadn’t returned yet?
Sensing her unease, Aurora did not hold back any longer, and her aura erupted. “He is my husband. Tell me. Where is he? Why are you talking about him?”
Lirae’s heart lurched. Ellora tightened her grip on her staff.
Alzara didn’t even have time to blink.
Aurora’s divine aura exploded outward like a silent detonation. The dunes groaned. Cracks spider-webbed beneath her feet. Half the vampires behind Norosse staggered back.
Even the Emperor’s elite warriors, battle-hardened, stoic, unshakeable, tensed, hands flying instinctively toward their weapons. A fallen angel! A freaking fallen angel was standing in front of them! This was the first time they were witnessing something like this.
Princess Alzara was also utterly stupefied. She had faced executioners of the night, ancient desert beasts, and her own father’s political storms, but this being in front of her was something else. Something wrong for mortals to face head-on.
More importantly, the words uttered by the woman were going on repeat in Alzara’s head. Wife! This fallen angel was his wife?! He has a fallen angel as his wife? How was she supposed to compete with a being like this?
Fuck! Why was she even thinking like this? She hated that bastard to the core! Why would she even want to compete for him?!
The sand around Aurora shimmered under the weight of her divinity as she stepped forward, wings half-unfurled, eyes glowing like molten dawn. Her voice dropped into a tone that made even the shadows recoil.
“Where,” Aurora repeated, “is my husband?”
Just as the two sides looked as if they were about to explode, a black figure materialized, his face twisted in bitterness. “If I may intervene…” The man spoke as if the heavens themselves had wronged him. “I think both of you are looking for my Master.”
His sudden appearance alerted them both, and particularly Alzara and her group, as they recognized his attire, the trademark Umbra’s hand attire. But his words said something else.
“Did you say Master?” Aurora repeated.
“Yes. Yes. Blood God… Master extraordinaire…”
Thanks to him, everyone managed to calm down. Alzara, as well, quickly snapped out of her trance and added to prevent any miscommunication. “We are also looking for Blood God. We are not his enemies. We are his allies.”
“Yup, Princess here has a sweet spot for our Master. It’s all over the rumor mill.” The assassin chuckled in a strained manner. He then turned towards Auroa, Lirae, and Ellora who all now had strange expressions on their faces after hearing that particular comment. “And who might you three goddesses be? His sisters, perhaps?”
Aurora scoffed. “We are his wives. Cut it with the introductions. Why don’t you start by talking about where exactly my husband is and what happened to him?”
