Chapter 611: Umbra’s Hand’s First Disciple
Dozens of blood spears tore through the battlefield like crimson lightning. Assassins who had been on the edge of flight or fight gasped in panic, but the door to escape was already shut. All the blood spears found their targets with merciless precision.

Screams choked out one by one. Bodies dropped like puppets with their strings cut. Blood spattered across the walls, pooling beneath the corpses before rising again in thin streams toward Damon’s outstretched hand. Every drop fed him, every kill added to his strength.

The Second’s fan trembled. She snapped it in front of her again, creating a vortex of swirling black petals to shield herself. Horror was written all over her face. “You dare slaughter Umbra’s Hand in our own formation!” She stood at a distance and unleashed three powerful blasts of shadow attack, which also had a fiery edge.

Just as she released the attack, a crimson spear pierced her shoulder, spinning her sideways, and poison finally burrowed its way into her. Another one embedded itself in her knee, forcing her down on one leg. Her blood essence also joined with the others and started flowing towards Damon.

However, Damon was staring at the empty space ahead of him. The First was still nowhere to be found. That alone made Damon alert.

The First wasn’t attacking blindly like the others. He wasn’t charging or throwing blades or screaming for revenge. He was waiting. Planning. Watching Damon’s every movement with unfathomable calm. That type of enemy was the troublesome kind.

His gut feeling told him that he needed to be prepared, and he made a habit of never doubting his gut. If this guy were presumably the leader of the entire Umbra’s hand, then underestimating would be a terrible mistake.

Damon did not want to use his Primordial Senses if he did not have to, but he decided to go for it. His Primordial Senses hummed, searching for the faintest ripple of presence.

Nothing.

Yet he knew the First was here.

The Second coughed blood, struggling to speak. “You… fool… You think killing the rest of us gives you a chance? You think you know what he is? He is the only disciple-”

“You should stop talking.” A cold voice sounded. “You are talking too much.”

Damon grinned. He had used mental corruption on the woman to see if she could spill something about the leader and she almost did it but it looked like she did one better and summoned the guy out of his hiding hole.

“Good. You finally decided to show up.”

The First stepped into existence. One moment, there was nothing. The next, a tall masked figure stood directly across from Damon, hands relaxed at his sides. Black daggers floated behind him, six of them, each humming with a power that was vile and sinisterous.

He did not say anything and simply looked at Damon. Then out of nowhere, the world shattered into shadow and silence. Everything went dark.

Damon’s eyes narrowed. “A domain,” he muttered. “That’s troublesome.”

A voice answered from everywhere and nowhere, calm and cold enough to freeze blood. “You rely on brute power. On poison. On blood. On chaos.” A faint shimmer flickered in the darkness as the First’s mask slowly materialized, floating without a body. “But in my domain, none of that matters.”

The six daggers behind him appeared next, hovering like executioners waiting for a nod. They did not drip mana. They did not vibrate with killing intent. They simply existed. And their existence alone felt like a death sentence.

Damon felt something once again, the same thing he had felt when he was fighting the huge poisonous monstrosity. Pressure. A world that he had not stepped into yet, despite the overwhelming strength and power running in his body.

It was frustrating. Infuriating.

Damon flexed his fingers. His blood aura hissed and twisted around him, wanting to lash out, wanting to feed, wanting to break this space apart. But every time it touched the surrounding darkness… it vanished. The darkness swallowed everything.

He had dabbled in the dark element and the shadow element more than enough now but this was in an entirely different level. His comprehension hadn’t reached here yet. All of a sudden he felt very small. He had many aces in his sleeve and yet none of them were his. He understood none to the power level this domain possessed.

The man in front of him was also a C rank. So why was he not able to reach the realm this man had stepped into!

Snapping him out of his thoughts, loud snarling sounds echoed in all directions. “Your power is crude,” the First said. His voice carried no echo in the domain, simply appearing in Damon’s ear. “Loud. Wasteful. Arrogant. You are just a mosquito who became a little bigger. My pets are enough to devour you.”

The next moment endless pairs of red eyes shone in the darkness. A familiar energy leaked into the domain and Damon’s eyes widened in shock. Abyssal energy! Shadow monsters!

“It is time you understood the power of Umbra’s Hand’s First Disciple.”

Damon grinned. He did not care. As far as he was concerned, this was perfect. Just what he needed right now. His mind was a complete mess and it had been a while now. In this state, he actually welcomed the endless flock of monstrous abominations. Nothing to clear the mind than good old fashioned grinding.

Ideally he would have liked it if he could have also gotten some blood essence from these guys but he would settle for the mental clarity instead.

Damon inhaled and exhaled. He then calmly stood, blood spears materializing all around him. His skill was working again. This was because he did not use mana this time to fuel his blood essence. He used the abyssal essence instead. He only had a weak affinity but he still had an affinity.

His grin widened as the first burst of crimson spears shot forward. It was the opponent’s turn to stare in shock.
