Chapter 508: No way out
[Ding! Goldy has absorbed a high-tier flame fragment]
[Ding! Goldy: Fire essence required for evolution: 600,000/1,000,000]
[Ding! Goldy has gained a new trait]
There was a bunch of other notifications that Damon did not bother going through. He watched the little spark in action as it now started emitting three fire bullets at the same time. Each one doing somewhere around 200 damage, coming to a total of 600 damage.
But this was the lower range. The upper range was 1500 to 2000!
Damon grinned as he wondered just how much the attack power would increase when the little sprite absorbed enough fire essence to complete the first evolution. He needed to find more sources for the little sprite soon to match its appetite.
However, for now, he needed to satisfy his own appetite.
Damon could feel his stat absorption slowing down but his skills were still getting upgraded pretty quickly thanks to all the different varieties of players on the battleground, surprisingly many with all sorts of special skills. The super ten were not the top guilds for nothing.
He continued slaughtering everyone he could get his hands on and absorbed all the blood essence he could like there was no tomorrow. But this was not the same as the beginning of the game. He couldn’t simply mow down whomever he wanted.
There were lot more restrictions now and he needed to watch out for trap skills that could stun him or paralyze him. If he got hit with even a single one of those skills then it would instant game over.
Damon made sure not to stay in a single spot for more than a second to make sure that this did not happen. All the constant shadow-stepping and blinking was costing him a lot of mana. Exhaustion was slowly creeping up and the player army seemed endless, especially with the new addition of players.
On the other side, Necro God was equally relentless but he too looked ragged and pushed to his limits. Damon did not worry about him. He knew that the kid was way too stubborn to fold just yet.
The most surprising part was that Mallana was also pulling her weight. Damon did not think much of her or rather he did not really have any time to assess her abilities or potential. But now after seeing her in action, he could clearly see it. The girl had a lot of talent.
Water mages were typically not that strong in combat but she her control over the element was exceptional. She made droplets into razor-thin blades that struck weak points with surgical precision. Her mana usage was elegant and efficient, and she seemed to always be one step ahead, anticipating where the enemies would move. She was a born fighter.
Damon gave her a glance across the chaos and then continued slaughtering. Though the army had big momentum, he was able to stall them somewhat. If this continued then he would be able to truly manage this side.
However, it looked like the other party had no intentions of letting something like that happen. The reinforcements from the European Coalition were still continuing to pour in when another stream of players also started to join from a different direction.
Damon’s eyes widened. Heading the army was none other than the man with the golden mask, the guild leader of the Norther Frontier. Surrounding him was a team of elite players and C rank NPCs.
“So you want to bury me right here in this battlefield, huh?” Damon sneered. The guy was doing everything he can to crush him with numbers. No matter how much he fought back, he was bringing out more and more players and NPCs to hit him back.
Damon knew this was coming for him and this was precisely why he was trying to make a deal with Hinata but it looks like luck was not in his favor today. Or perhaps Goldy had gobbled up all of his luck. That little sprite and Blood Reign had gained the most today.
But hey, there was still time. With this much blood essence flowing left and right in the battlefield, wouldn’t a chance come for him as well?
Damon laughed wildly. He unleashed his poison domain left and right to set off a few more rounds of death. The new people were yet to get organized and the speed with which the poison acted left very little time for them to resist the attack.
However, this too only lasted for some time. Michael, the golden-masked bastard had clearly come prepared for it. Troops after troops of healers were unleashed into the battlefield.
Though these healers were not able to completely block the effect of the poison, they were able to prevent the instant deaths and slow down the poison. By then Damon had already moved onto another location. The lack of subsequent pressure made it easy for the healers to take their time and resolve the issue.
Sure, the whole ordeal was draining their resources like water but the other side seemed to possess endless resources.
“You cannot win this no matter what you do! Give up and surrender!” Michael’s voice thundered across the battlefield. Half of the men around him disappeared, all locked onto Damon no doubt. The next moment teleportation became impossible in the battlefield and a wide barrier popped up all around.
Damon’s eyes narrowed as the golden dome shimmered into existence, sealing him inside with an army of elite players. This was followed by a flood of light which exterminated any and all shadows within the battlefield.
Suddenly, Damon was completely exposed, alone and vulnerable.
Michael indifferently watched the whole thing. He made sure Damon was cornered like a wild animal with no other routes of action. But there was still the matter of actually attacking him and taking him down.
And Damon showed no signs of stress or pressure. “A little bold are we? Now that you have back up?”
Michael did not respond. He silently stood as an army of men started charging towards Damon. However, before the army could reach him. Three figures silently appeared around Damon.
