Chapter 506: Mental Corruption
Acting as if Damon were still frustrated with the solar lances and beams attacking him from left and right, he continued running around on the battleground, breathing hard and looking haggard. But inwardly, he activated a vicious skill which he was quite confident would work very well at the moment.

[Mental Corruption]

“Ha Ha Ha. Is everything gone? Did your legendary item break a little? Or maybe a lot? Ha Ha Ha. I have spies everywhere, you Devereux dog. The men standing behind you have already given me all the details I need. They told me how to destroy the damn thing. You are screwed you orange boy. F.U.C.K.E.D. Do you understand? You stood no chance right from beginning. I was the one who lured you here! Think about it!”

Reynard froze. “What… what are you saying?”

His eyes flicked toward his own men. Familiar faces. Loyal comrades. Elite guards trained since childhood. But now… he noticed the subtle way one of them didn’t meet his eyes. The barely-perceptible delay in another’s step. The hesitation in their movements.

“No. No, you’re bluffing,” Reynard growled. But his grip on his staff faltered. A single drop of sweat rolled down his cheek because deep down, a part of him wanted to believe it.

“They laughed about you behind your back, you know. Called you the weakest heir the Devereux line ever produced. Said the bracelet deserved someone better. Now they are here to make sure that it does. Your own brother teamed up with me to make sure that this happened. What are you going to do now? You are done for! Ha Ha Ha!”

Damon laughed without any restraint. He had no idea if this orange head had a brother or not but he was fine with spouting nonsense and making guess left and right. The other party was in such a mindset after all. He activated [Mental Corrruption] over and over again and continued to taunt him.

He thought that it was going to take some time but Reynard surprisingly lost it pretty quick. One of the men moved closer to him in order to block an attack when Reynard turned around to glare at him with reddened eyes, eyes full of madness and craze.

“You are with him, aren’t you? Are you trying to stab me in the back?” Reynard roared and sent a blast wave at the guy. The guy was a level 85 player and was perfectly capable of blocking an attack like this but he did not dare block Reynard’s attack. He silently took it, a huge chunk of his health disappearing.

“My lord…” He wanted to say something but Reynard did not give him a chance at all. With the legendary item empowering him, he sent back to back powerful attacks at the guy and quickly finished him off.

The others were shocked to witness such a scene. One another player rushed over to Reynard to check if everything was fine but even this time, Reynard misunderstood his intentions and started firing at him.

Soon, the whole place devolved into madness. Reynard started attacking everyone around him left and right without any rhyme or reason.

“Stop it! Who is poisoning me? Who is backstabbing me? You will pay for this dearly! You can’t do anything to my legendary item! I won’t give it up! You can’t take what is mine! I am the next heir! You can tell that fucker to go and die already. Howard will never become the heir. He will never receive the true blessing from our God. I am the chosen one! I am the heir!”

The cracks in Reynard’s mind weren’t just from Damon’s relentless taunting. It looked like they were rooted in all the good stuff. Jealousy. Paranoia. Insecurity. All the fertile soil a skill like [Mental Corruption] needed to bloom into something spectacular.

And bloom it did.

The battlefield had become completely chaotic. Flames erupted wildly as Reynard unleashed everything he had, turning on his own men in blind fury.

He screamed, hurling searing spears at anyone within reach. “LIARS! ALL OF YOU! I’LL BURN THIS TRAITOR’S PIT TO THE GROUND!”

Two more of his guards tried to restrain him, calling his name, but Reynard responded with a solar pulse that vaporized them mid-sentence. The men turned to ash where they stood, their gear clattering to the floor. The once-elite entourage reduced to little more than fuel for their prince’s delusion.

The spiral of self-destruction was extremely amusing to watch. But Damon was not satisfied with just that. He wanted some answers.

“How about we make a deal Reynard? I will tell you everything about the traitors and even help you put your legendary item back together. All you have to do for me in return is give up some minor information about that annoying golden masked bastard. Does he also have a legendary item on him? What is he planning next?”

Reynard’s hands twitched mid-cast. His pupils were blown wide, his breath erratic, and sweat slicked his temples.

“Come on, Reynard. Just a bit of information. I will give you the traitors. I will give you Howard’s entire plan. Tell me about the golden-masked bastard. You know who I mean.”

Reynard staggered, clutching his head. “You don’t… know what you’re messing with… Michael is not like me. He is very strong. You will never be able to beat him in a million years. He did not fight you properly before. Its all part of his plan. His God has already granted him his true-”

Before Reynard could finish his sentence, suddenly his body slumped his mid-sentence. A black-robed man appeared out of nowhere and caught Reynard’s body, shooting a glare towards Damon.

Damon instantly knew that this guy was not like Reynard. He was a much more powerful opponent. More importantly, the guy wasn’t planning to stand and fight him. He looked like he was about to leave.

Damon quickly checked the bracelet and there was still three shining dots left. Goldy needed to complete its meal. So no, he couldn’t allow the guy to leave just yet.
