Chapter 493: New Development
Kaelthorn was unstoppable as his blade cut through all the attacks flying at him. He fought up close and personal with the light faction army, sinking his fangs into the paladins and knights without restraint. His bloodthirsty aura was completely unleashed for everyone to see.
Finally, the other group decided that he couldn’t be left alone anymore, and a peak C-rank powerhouse stepped out to stop him.
A peak C-rank Radiant champion in full gold plate walked straight through the mess. He carried a sun hammer and a mirror shield. Light crawled over his armor like fire. He pointed the hammer at Kaelthorn.
“Blasphemer. Face me.”
Kaelthorn scoffed. There was some sort of intimidation skill mixed in with the guy’s shout, but it did not have any effect on him. He shook it off like it was nothing. “In front of my Master, you are nothing. Shut your trap and stop shouting in my ears! Even a hundred of you mean nothing to me!”
His blade danced as he fearlessly fought the Radiant Champion, who was clearly a league above him.
The champion moved first. Smite Step. He blinked in and swung. The hit came with a shockwave. Kaelthorn slid his sword up and caught it on the flat. The wave still punched his ribs. He grinned anyway and pushed back.
The champion snarled and drove forward. Hammer Fall. Kaelthorn crossed blade and axe and took it on the guard. His boots slid a handspan. But out of nowhere, a Blood Bullet landed on the Radiant Champion, temporarily destabilizing him.
Kaelthorn did not miss the opportunity and went in for the kill. His blade danced, and his aura flared as he looked like a battle maniac who had seen countless fights in his life. The Radiant Champion was soon slowly pushed back, and his health started dropping.
How could the light faction allow one of their key fighters to go down just like that? Soon, a support unit arrived with three other C-rank guardian knights and one C-rank healer.
Kaelthorn grimaced. He prepared to take down the entire unit or go down trying, but right at this moment, another figure landed square in front of the support troops, not letting any of them actually get close to the losing Radiant Champion.
“Finish it soon. I got this.” Mark’s voice thundered.
Thanks to the skill books Damon acquired, he now had many tank skills in his possession. These skills swimmingly went along with his current playstyle. A blood shield flared up in front of him and when the golden veins in his muscular hand lit up, these veins appeared in his blood shield as well.
Mark’s size increased as he stood toweringly over the other C-rank fighters. He knew it was impossible for him to take down any of them but he was more than capable of delaying them.
Ellora also did not let up and kept attacking the Radiant Champion from the distance.
A Radiant Champion was a sun-blessed knight who specialized in tanking and breaking the front lines and any obstacles that fell on the path of the army. Kaelthorn stood toe to toe with such a behemoth and ground down his defenses with every swing of the blade.
With the help of Mark and Ellora, he soon managed to completely overpower him and drained his health to the last drop.
As the man’s lifeless body dropped dead on the battleground, Kaelthorn trembled in excitement. His battle fervour only increased despite the exhaustion. He had actually managed to slaughter a peak C rank powerhouse.
Keeping up the momentum, he growled and dashed forward to the next enemy. His eyes shone with blood lust. Meanwhile, with Kate’s and Ellora’s assistance, Mark neatly took care of the other three C rank knights and the C rank healer.
Together the four of them were able to perform well above what they should and culled down the numbers of the key figures.
The other vampire elites, the Blood Generals were also doing their job thoroughly. Damon had paid an exorbitant sum for recruiting them and they lived up to it. One by one the NPC army was slowly dwindling and the purification raid was faltering right from the get go.
If the others had not intervened, the Blood Hall battle might have already concluded and Damon would have once again won in this round easily. But how could things be so simple?
The rest of the world wouldn’t simply watch as a vampire base prospered in the middle of the light faction continent. The kingdoms surrounding Niera would soon take even stronger action and if they fail, the Emperor would finally take a drastic action, prolonging the war to another few months at least.
However, this natural progress was completely disturbed the super ten guilds. The easy victory turned complicated as two other armies continued to knock on their doorstep, trying to break down the defenses of Niera City.
Damon had only allocated a small amount of vampire forces to deal with the two super ten player armies and most of the vampire forces were busy tackling the main holy and divine NPCs purification raid army.
The players could always revive and come back at them again and again but once an NPC was dead, he would stay dead, unless otherwise revived by a priest at the point of death. The players were different. A really persistent player army could continue to put pressure for a while.
Dealing with the NPC army first would give them a lot more breathing room. Also, the NPC army was the more difficult to get rid of. Considering everything, Damon had picked this strategy among the many that Varnyx suggested.
But now using this to their advantage, both the Northern Frontier guild and the Sounthern Vanguard guild had started pushing forward and making headway. Even with Erin raining down chaos all over them, the army was slowly picking up.
To make things worse, the paladin NPC with the legendary horn suddenly showed up in the Northern Frontiers army, blowing the horn loudly and completely clearing up the poison and miasma in the air.
The man then disappeared and not so surprisingly, showed up at the Southern Vanguard army as well, and pretty much did the same thing. Thanks to the single legendary item, the entire battlefield had once again turned favorable to the light faction players and NPCs.
As if this was not enough, suddenly there was new development. Without giving the vampires a chance to form a counter attack, out of nowhere more players and NPCs started teleporting to the Northern Frontiers and the Souther Vanguard armies.
If one observed closely, they would see that these NPCs were actually part of the kingdom guards of the neighbouring cities!
Even though Varnyx thought it was impossible, Damon had already guessed this much. The guild leaders and the guild who had managed to capture the city hall of the cities, ended up mobilizing their forces in just a matter of hours!
Such a feat would usually require several days if not weeks but here they were, more trained and experienced men and women pouring into the two armies, ready to pincer attack from both sides.
