Chapter 488: It’s go time
Damon grinned. Not so surprisingly, the battle had progressed to the next phase, but he had already made preparations for this. The blood barrier was going to go down sooner or later. There was no doubt about it, and there was nothing anyone could do to prevent it.
The question was just how much he could cull down the enemy forces before this happened. Also, unlike the first battle, there were no waves of enemy troops this time around. They had to face the full brunt of the attack right from the get-go.
In this situation, the more chaos he sowed, the better the benefits they reaped. As long as the army was organized, it would be powerful and it would be a threat to them. This was not the messy, random player army they were dealing with.
One was almost a pure NPC army, while the other two were trained super guild armies. None of them could be underestimated. Every single death would only cement their victory further.
And for that, he had to burn some money and also introduce his second shock factor, his newly blessed follower.
“It’s go time.” Damon gave the mental command, and a figure rose up from the distant forest. A terrifyingly powerful aura surged out, and a huge draconic beast flapped its wings to appear in the sky.
Erin made her first appearance in style. Her body had now completely transformed. She had smooth and shiny black scales with crimson patterns on them. There was an overwhelming miasmic aura spilling out of her, spreading in the skies like dark storm clouds.
All the peak C rank powerhouses could sense her profound aura even from a distance. The moment she revealed herself, the battlefield became still for a second. Everyone was perceptive enough to know that something was coming. Something huge.
And in the blink of an eye, her serpentine draconic body crossed the distance and arrived right on top of the battlefield effortlessly. A huge shadow fell over the battlefield.
Erin’s roar rolled over the plain and made armor buzz. Her long body coiled once in the air and snapped straight. Black scales flashed. Crimson lines glowed between them like hot metal. The wind itself seemed to sour.
She struck first. One breath. A wide cone of greenish purple black miasma blasted out of her maw and fell over the western boundary, mixing in with the air. The Southern Vanguards were the first to face the storm.
The miasma hit the barriers and in a fraction of a second, the barriers crumbled. The army hastily tried to restore the protection, but it was of no use. The miasma was simply too strong. It was eating through everything.
Also, the miasma was very unique. It was not merely a poisonous miasma. Even though the protective barriers blocked the poisonous part of it, some sort of component leaked through.
And this component was undoubtedly terrifying.
Viola, who stood amidst a couple of C rank powerhouse NPCs, gaped in shock. Here she thought they were the ones going to be making big moves, but the opponent had once again made another ruthless move without giving them a single breath to show their hands.
“Use the scrolls! What are you waiting for? Do something.” She screamed, her poised and elegant appearance completely gone. There were ten NPCs surrounding her, three of whom were peak C rank powerhouses.
If Damon had to guess, these would be her personal followers. The others were not much of a threat, but they couldn’t be ignored either. They were significant presences that could slaughter many vampires.
But it didn’t matter. Along with Erin, Damon appeared on the western boundary. He already made the selection. In the choice of east or west, or north, he instantly chose west without hesitation.
Among the three mysterious figures, the woman was the weakest, and she seemed to possess the weirdest skills as well. He was also very curious about how she was able to freely use dark magic while staying in the light faction and even commanding light faction NPC followers.
Heck, she was the city lord of a light faction city! How was this possible? It bugged Damon. He was pretty sure the woman had something extremely valuable on her. Her cursing skill was also not that bad.
Devouring all three of them today and stealing all of their skills was downright impossible. So he decided to set a more achievable goal. He would target one among the three and get to the bottom of their abilities, and this woman was definitely the perfect choice. He was sure of it.
Using Erin’s surprise entry, he struck like a hammer. Erin attacked first, and the miasma spread through the army, her mental corruption working overtime. Damon could already see the army of talented, well-trained players starting to stumble and fumble.
The miasma spread quickly, affecting more and more minds by the second. Just as a super guild army would have it, the troops were not simple at all. They seemed to have an impressive basal mental resilience.
Unlike the intruders in her former territory, Erin was not able to turn these people completely into her puppets and mindless zombies. But her miasma was still able to at least cloud their minds and affect their decisions. Their thinking and their mental processing had clearly slowed down.
After the miasma clung to the air, even the casting speed of many became slow, and the barriers were no longer coming up in time. Using this as an opportunity, Damon continued to apply pressure through poison sending yet another wave of players to the ground.
At the same time, he dashed towards his main target like an arrow.
Even in the crowd of hundreds of players, he instantly found her out thanks to his blood mark, and within seconds, he stood in front of her once again with a big wolfish grin on his face.
“Hello again. Are you the one who cursed me?” His voice sent shivers down Viola’s spine as she dumbly looked around her.
