Chapter 130: Trouble Arises.
The next day arrived peacefully, without incident or threat.

Both Moon and Selene had rested sufficiently to remove the accumulated mental and physical fatigue from their harrowing ordeal. The sleep had been deep and healing.

During their stay, they’d been attacked by nobody at all. More significantly, during their rotating watch shifts throughout the night, both had realised something important: the Savi had placed warriors in positions around their dwelling, quietly guarding them while they rested.

This observation led them to an important conclusion, there was certainly danger in this area. If the Savi people were genuinely friendly and felt the need to post protective guards, it meant threats existed to their guests’ safety. Whether it was from hostile factions within the Savi society itself or from dangerous monsters in the surrounding wilderness remained unclear.

Either way, the Savi people had proven themselves trustworthy through actions rather than just words. Moon found no logical reason for them to maintain such elaborate deception. They were surrounded by potentially hundreds of Savi warriors in the clan’s home territory. If hostile intent existed, the locals could have acted on it long ago without this performance.

The Savi people appeared to wake early. As soon as the first rays of sunlight touched the settlement, the sounds of children playing, women preparing food, and men organizing hunting parties began traveling across the area.

“Let’s head out and see what they have planned for us,” Moon said, standing from his seated position. “They might help us understand this place better. Perhaps we can learn more about that mysterious human benefactor too.”

Selene nodded, rising as well. “Let’s go.”

The moment they emerged from their dwelling, nearby Savi people grew visibly excited. Someone immediately called for Yara, their voice carrying urgently across the settlement.

Yara arrived within a minute, a warm smile on her face just like the day before. “Good morning, honored descendants of the benefactor! I trust you rested well?”

Moon raised a hand politely. “Please, just call us by our names. I’m Moon, and this is Selene. ‘Honored descendants’ is too formal for comfortable conversation.”

Yara hesitated, clear discomfort crossing her features. “But… such familiarity with those bearing the benefactor’s race would be disrespectful to his memory…”

“We insist,” Selene added gently. “We’re not here as nobility or figures of authority. Just as travelers who could use friendly guidance.”

After several more minutes of gentle persuasion, Yara finally relented with a shy smile. “Very well… Moon and Selene. It feels strange, but I will honor your wishes.”

Yara proceeded to take them on an extensive tour of the settlement and surrounding areas, showing them the details of Savi daily life.

She demonstrated their hunting techniques, both in the ocean shallows where they speared fish and collected shellfish, and in the dense jungle wilderness where they tracked land-based beasts through the undergrowth.

The beasts they hunted surprised Moon considerably.

Yara was real strong, and powerful.

She was clearly at level twenty-five, the threshold for class evolution. Moon could tell from her movements that she was an expert that had mastered control over her own body through experience. Yara killed dangerous beasts without apparent effort, her arrows always finding their marks with terrifying accuracy, as if missing simply wasn’t a possibility her eyes allowed.

The creatures she hunted ranged from level twenty to twenty-three—formidable threats that would challenge most awakeners Moon’s age. Yet Yara dispatched them without any issues.

As they stood near the shoreline watching Savi fishermen work their nets, a group of young clan members came sprinting toward them in obvious panic. Their breaths were slightly haggard from the sprint they had just performed to reach them.

“Yara! Yara!” they shouted breathlessly in their native tongue. “Seth’val tsh eora! Ni’shara ghar’ken vel!”

The other children nodded in a hurry, as if confirming their spokesperson’s words.

Yara’s face contorted with an expression Moon and Selene hadn’t witnessed before, anger.

They didn’t understand the words, but the body language of Yara and the kids gave them a clear idea.

“What’s wrong? What happened?” Moon asked, feeling a bad premonition.

Yara turned, her expression softening but still sour from the news.

“…The Heretics, they’re here to cause trouble. They somehow heard about your arrival, and they’re demanding…” She paused, disgust clear in her expression.

Her hands clenched as she finished her words, “They demand your blood.”

Moon’s eyes hardened instantly. “What? Our blood? Why would they want that?”

“It’s… complicated,” Yara said, clearly struggling with how much to explain in their limited time.

“I will inform you of everything later, but right now we need to return to the village immediately. Our clan leader wants everyone back. We want to negotiate with the Heretics, avoid conflict if possible. We don’t want to spill blood across this land… killing only brings more killing, and the cycle never ends.

But if they dare to…”

Her voice became colder when she uttered the last sentence, as if strengthening her stand and resolve.

Moon and Selene exchanged quick glances. “Lead the way, we’ll follow your guidance for now. But Yara, if negotiation fails and they attack, I will…kill them.'” Moon said, summoning his staff from his storage ring.

Yara nodded her understanding, clearly relieved they weren’t panicking or thinking bad of them. “Of course. The Savi clan will protect you with our lives if necessary. You are honored guests, and we owe the benefactor’s people an un-payable debt. We are sorry for the trouble, we are bad ”

She began leading them back toward the village center at a rapid pace, Savi warriors they encountered along the way falling into formation around Moon and Selene from Yara’s orders.

Whatever these “Heretics” wanted, it seemed the Savi clan was prepared to fight rather than simply hand over their guests.

Moon appreciated that loyalty, even as he prepared himself mentally for yet another battle in what had already been an impossibly violent journey. He wasn’t going to hold back, if any of the so called heretics dared to do anything stupid, then he would kill them, it was as simply as that.
