Chapter 1891: Mistaken identity
In the end, there were a few people that ‘agreed’ to come with me.

Though it was said that they agreed, it was more that they were being forced to go along with it.

I didn’t really care how they were dragged into coming along, I just needed them just in case something happened.

In a worst case scenario, it wasn’t as if I was above abandoning them as well.

Though the one that I didn’t want to come was the hunchback.

He was the only one that actually seemed to offer to come along even though he didn’t have to. I had planned on protecting him since he was important for the future, but it turned out that he had loyalty to a certain degree.

After I tipped him, it seemed that he had formed some kind of bond with me with how he supported me.

Even earlier, he was the only one that had moved closer to me when they tried to force me out as if he wanted to protect me.

I really didn’t understand why he treated me like this, but still I would make sure that he would be safe in case anything happened.

When we came out, it seemed like there was no reaction at all from the dark figures as they stood there. All of them were standing there as if they were following a line that was drawn around the inn.

It seemed that as long as nothing happened, they would remain on that line.

Though there was no guarantee that this would be the case.

After coming out of the inn, I looked closely at the dark figures that were there.

Even though I tried seeing through whatever it was that was keeping them hidden, I just wasn’t able to see a single thing. This was even when I used mana and even divine energy to boost my eyes.

It seemed that whatever it was that was keeping them hidden was quite the special thing.

Only after we fully came out did the dark figures seem to react.

All of them turned to look at us even if they didn’t move an inch.

The way that they looked at us showed that they were focused on our group.

The way that they looked at us was as if they were looking for something from our group.

As soon as this happened, there were a few that suddenly turned to run back into the inn. However, it wasn’t as if they could run back into the inn since the door had already shut behind them.

So the only thing that they could do was try to run past the dark figures that were there.

The dark figures were spread out a bit, so it wasn’t as if there were no gaps at all.

Even though they were running at them, it didn’t seem like the dark figures reacted at all. It seemed like the dark figures didn’t care about the ones that ran at them as they were still focused on our group standing there.

Seeing this emboldened the ones that were running and they made it through the gaps.

But in the end, the only thing that happened were screams of terror rang out in the distance.

It seemed that even though they ran past the dark figures, they hadn’t been able to escape the things that were hiding in the night.

It wasn’t as if there were only these dark figures that were here, there were still other monsters that were hiding in the dark of the night.

Running into the forest like that really was a dumb move, but they were desperate.

“It’s their own fault for agitating the young ones. We didn’t mean them any harm, so why are they so scared?”

A strange look appeared on my face when I heard this.

This was a voice that rang through the air, so there was only one place that it could have come from.

It was from the giant dark figures that were around us.

The way that they spoke was as if it wasn’t their fault that several people had died just now.

But then again…

“Now, representative of the gods, we’re here to see you.”

I was completely caught off guard when I heard this since this was the last thing that I had been expecting to hear from these dark figures.

But then when I thought about it, it seemed about right.

If they felt resonance with Dorothy like I thought they did, it meant that they would also be able to figure out that I was the representative of the gods. After all, I was their mortal enemy and they would want to take me out just in case.

Since that was the case, I didn’t hesitate to draw out my divine relics.

If it was a fight they wanted, it wasn’t as if I would go down that easily.

“You’re mistaken, representative of the gods. We’re not what you think we are, we are on the same side.” The same voice spoke again.

“How can you say something like that? You Apostles of Destruction aren’t following anyone.”

“Apostles of Destruction? Like I said, you’re mistaken…We’re not Apostles of Destrruction…” The same voice said, but there was a strange tone that was in it.

It seemed like it was a lie with the sincerity that was in this voice, but it wasn’t as if I was going to believe it that easily.

But the dark figures suddenly disappeared and were replaced with something else that was much smaller.

It was a group of small lizards that suddenly appeared as if they walked out of the dark figures.

Once they appeared, the leader of these small lizards suddenly came forward towards me and said, “I am the leader of our group and the one that follows our god. I am the messenger that is here to talk to the representative of the gods on behalf of our god.”

I looked at the lizard with a very strange look…

But there was no denying this since there was divine energy around this lizard…
