Chapter 206: Chapter 206
Lily’s POV Oh my God, this antique dress store was truly a treasure! As soon as we entered, our women’s eyes lit up. The clothes inside were not like the uniform ones in shopping malls. Each one was exquisite and unique, carrying the beauty accumulated over time. We immediately started chattering away, imagining how they would look when worn. “Look at this embroidery! It’s absolutely stunning!” “This silk fabric,it feels incredible!” Even the witch sisters Maya and Rose rarely showed the excitement of little girls. Even though they keenly sensed that there was an air of other witches in this store, everyone tacitly understood that witches were not street hooligans and had to compete over the territory. They pretended not to know and just focused on choosing their dresses. A shop assistant came out from inside. She was a very beautiful middle-aged woman. One could tell her age, but her elegant demeanor was like that of a noble in an old movie. Wearing a simple black long dress, she inexplicably dominated the scene. “Welcome,” she said in a gentle voice, with an aristocratic emphasis, and a smile on her face. “Please feel free to look around. If you like something, give it a try.” Melissa was the first to get it done. She chose a bright yellow knee-length dress, which made her complexion look particularly healthy. She paid the money readily on the spot. Rose, meanwhile, fell for a Victorian-style vintage gown. Layers of lace and a cinched waist transformed her into a mysterious countess stepping out of an ancient castle. Of course, provided she didn’t speak or suddenly pull a prank. Maya wavered between an elegant off-the-shoulder gown and a playful skirt. The graceful saleswoman observed her for a moment, then smiled and recommended a pink, sensually cut strapless maxi dress, paired with a soft shawl in the same hue. When Maya put on the outfit and walked out with a mixture of doubt and belief, we were all stunned. The pink color set off her fair skin. The halter top design showed off her beautiful collarbone, and the shawl added a touch of elegance and softness… She looked just like a real princess! “Wow, Maya!” I couldn’t help whistling. Alright, now it was down to our little wolf girl, Celena. We all called her that since she was the youngest among us. She lingered before several blue dresses in varying shades and styles, her fingers lightly brushing the fabrics, looking hesitant. It wasn’t about the price; she just… hadn’t found the perfect one yet. We chimed in with suggestions: “How about green? It really complements your eyes.” “Or try this pale yellow? It’ll make you look lively.” But she seemed unenthusiastic, always feeling something was off. Could it be that blue reminded her of Brett? He seemed to like blue when he was alive. I wasn’t sure. “Anyway, there’s still plenty of time,” I patted her shoulder. “Take your time picking. You’ll find the perfect one.” Celena’s POV I think I do like blue. My wolf kept chiming in: “That fitted one’s nice, but the neckline’s too conservative.” Or “Tsk, this one looks faded.” But I always felt that something was missing. The other colors recommended by Lily and the others, green or yellow, were indeed beautiful, but just…they couldn’t move me. Could it really be because Brett liked blue? I was not sure and my mind was a bit confused. It was not until that elegant middle-aged woman came over that she looked at me gently and said softly, “Dear, your skin is so fair and your neck line is so beautiful, like a swan. Why not try red? It will surely be very beautiful.” Red? Almost the moment I heard this word, the Wolf within me suddenly became agitated! A strong sense of resistance swept over! No! No red! It growled in my consciousness, carrying an almost panicked mood. But I raised my head and exchanged a glance with that shop assistant. Her eyes were very deep, liked ancient pool water. At that very moment, I seemed to be in a daze for a moment, with a slight dizziness in my mind, very brief, so short that I almost thought it was an illusion. Then, the restless wolf within me suddenly fell silent, ceasing all protest. It no longer growled, merely lying down like a large dog whose fur had been stroked into submission, leaving only indistinct, muttered murmurs I couldn’t quite make out. As if guided by some unseen force, I pointed to a red gown hanging nearby. Its elegant silhouette featured a perfectly placed open back. “May I try that one?” When I emerged from the fitting room wearing the red dress, the entire store fell silent for a moment. Lily, the witches, Melissa, and Ren… their eyes widened, filled with undisguised amazement and praise. The girl in the mirror, her fair skin glowing against the red, the dress’s cut perfectly outlining her youthful figure. The backless design carried a hint of subtle sensuality without being overly dramatic. “That’s the one!” Lily clapped her hands decisively. I gazed at my reflection, my heart beating softly. It seemed… this truly was a good choice. In the end, we all paid with complete satisfaction. The elegant woman even gifted each of us a uniquely shaped yet exquisitely crafted accessory, mine was a silver feather-shaped brooch. She also handed us business cards bearing only a handwritten phone number. “Feel free to reach out anytime you need something,” she said with a smile, her gaze lingering on my face for what felt like an extra second. I even thought she gave me a subtle wink. Was that just my imagination?
