Revenge to the Alpha Mate - Chapter 189
Chapter 189: Chapter 189
Lily’s POV The damn life finally gave a little sweetness. Jim and Dave, the mischievous twins, were spending all the time with the witches named Maya and Rose. The air was filled with the smell of their marked mixture of herbs and static electricity all day long, overly sweet. But seriously, this was quite good. It meant the witch sisters had officially decided to stay, teaming up with us against the hunters. After all, our wolf den’s location was exposed now. Having more spell-casting allies was absolutely fucking essential. Kyle and his men were not idle. They kept wandering around the area near the hunter base that we had attacked by surprise before. But the message sent back was a bit strange. There was no smell of hunters there anymore. It was spotlessly clean. Instead, a pack of fierce wolves were lurking. Kyle’s men had confronted them from a distance. Both sides bared their teeth and growled to draw a clear line, but they didn’t really fight. Those Wolf cubs looked in a very bad state, hungry and with fierce eyes, but it seemed… without a clear goal, it was more like treating that place as territory. In the end, Kyle decided to retreat to his territory for rest first, but he vowed not to give up searching for the true whereabouts of the hunters. Where on earth have these elusive and insidious villains hidden themselves in? All these unsettling factors weighed on my mind like dark clouds. My greatest worry was Aurora. My little baby, so small, so soft. Let her stay in the Wolf pack cabin that could be attacked again at any time? Just thinking about it makes me furious. After discussing it with Ethan, we sent little Aurora to her grandmother’s house, to live with my mother. It was more secluded, safer. Plus, Patrick was watching over her. The day we sent her off, I held her close and kissed her again and again. My heart felt hollow, like a piece had been torn out, but at least I knew she was safe. Ethan and Xaver had also been busy lately, leading several trusted pack brothers to expand the search perimeter. They were combing the outer edges of our territory like a fine-toothed comb, trying to uncover new traces of those hunters hiding like sewer rats. This afternoon, I was leading defensive drills with a few new recruits and Celena. Celena… she moved like a wound-up machine, every action fueled by raw intensity, as if she were hammering every ounce of emotion into the bones of an imaginary foe. I was just about to call for a breather. Suddenly! A sharp jolt shot through the wolf pack link, piercing my mind! It was Ethan! My heart skipped a beat, and the training baton clattered to the ground. The werewolves training around me froze, the wolf pack link filled with chaotic cries of alarm and concern. Just a few minutes later, the roar of a car engine came from afar. It was Keith, my elder brother. He had transformed back into human form, with some blood on his clothes. In the car was Ethan, who was also in human form but had his left shoulder almost torn and was bleeding all over. They stepped on the accelerator and rushed into the training ground. Miranda happened to be here helping me right now. “Lily! Watch out!”Keith was drenched in sweat as he carefully set Ethan down. “We got ambushed by a pack of vicious wolves! Ethan took a direct bite from the leader protecting my flank!” I rushed over, my fingers trembling as I examined his shoulder. The wound was deep, flesh torn open, horrifying to look at, but thankfully it hadn’t hit any vital bones or arteries. His inhuman self-healing was already kicking in. The bleeding had mostly stopped, and fresh pink flesh was desperately growing over the wound. “Son of a bitch!” I snarled, rage boiling up inside me. Not life-threatening? Maybe. But mess with my man, and this wasn’t ending here!
