Chapter 433: Chapter 432- I will come with you
The first day of the second round went without any incident, unlike what Elana feared.

Naturally, many were talking about her, but not in a negative way. Rather, they were in awe of how amazing and skillful the first-ranked student was.

They had witnessed something one could only expect from veteran warriors who had spent years on the battlefield and developed battle intelligence over time.

The golem was something none of them saw coming. It was an inhumane construct rarely seen used by the Towers, given how expensive and powerful they were.

Naturally, no one expected to see a golem during an exam, and yet Adrian did the unexpected and picked a challenge that truly suited the caliber of the strongest student.

“I am flabbergasted, truth be told,” Allen said as he sat with the others in the common hall.

Beside him was Aries, and across from them were Sylvie and Olivia.

“Well, didn’t I say you would get to learn how far you are from reaching the top ranking?” Aries said with a smirk.

For the past few days, Aries and Allen had been training together, and Aries had to admit that the junior had serious talent for swordsmanship. His affinity with Light allowed him to utilize his abilities to their full extent.

Having clashed blades with Aries and somehow given her good competition, Allen had begun to think he could challenge Elana.

That’s why Aries invited him to watch the second stage — so he could understand how tall that mountain named Elana truly stood.

“You are nowhere strong enough to make her break a sweat, I must say,” Sylvie said.

Olivia wryly smiled, “You don’t have to be so cruel, Sylvie.”

The princess shrugged, and Allen told her, “No, she is right, Olivia. We both saw her abilities today, so yeah, I am nowhere near standing on the same ground as her.”

But one day, he surely would defeat her.

He had overcome many obstacles in his life so far; Elana was just another name. A big name, to be precise.

“By the way, where is she? You two are not eating together today?” Sylvie asked, moving her gaze around the common hall to find the familiar silver head.

Olivia said, “She must be getting treated. She incurred quite a few burns, after all.”

Aries just smiled and told them, “Right… she is getting treated right now.”

But not by a nurse — the third-year inwardly muttered.

…

“Does it still sting?” Adrian asked as he applied the medicine to her shoulder.

Elana shook her head, her lips never lowering. “No, Professor. It doesn’t hurt anymore.”

They were in his workshop. After the nurse checked on her, Elana had come here to talk.

Since it was still early evening, Adrian didn’t seem in any rush.

He rested the vial of medicine on the table and told her, “You have five days before the third stage begins. This time, you won’t need to use your armaments. So just relax and allow your body and mind some much-needed rest.”

For the past two days, she had barely slept, always worrying about the upcoming test.

Her concern was justified — if her secret had been discovered, the Tower would have taken her away.

But fortunately, “Nothing went wrong,” Elana muttered, a soft smile on her face. “It’s all thanks to the Professor.”

Adrian helplessly smiled. “You really think I did anything other than reminding you to take out your batons?” He looked into her eyes and told the girl, “Give yourself credit, Elana. You have shown sorcery that not even an above-average young adult could showcase.”

Elana’s shoulders loosened as she lowered her eyes and accepted his compliments.

After a brief pause, Adrian asked, “Do you want some coffee?”

Elana instantly nodded. “Yes, please.” Whatever the reason, she wanted to stay with him a little longer.

Adrian smiled at the girl before approaching the small shelf in the corner and checking for the coffee powder.

As he boiled water, he heard Elana ask, “Did you visit your family recently, sir? You weren’t around for two days.”

Adrian paused for a moment before nodding. “You can say that I reunited with a lost family member.”

Elana was curious, “Was that person important to you?”

Adrian’s lips arched faintly as he said, “Very.”

Elana could feel the relief in his voice — enough to show how important this person was.

“I am glad you found them,” she muttered quietly as the workshop was filled with the slow sound of boiling water.

Not long after, Adrian brought two steaming cups of coffee to the table and asked, “Did you write a letter to your father?”

Adrian had told her last night to let her family know about her other side.

About the fact that she could use independent magic.

Elana had been hesitant — understandably so. Despite how mature she appeared and her strong fighting prowess, she was still just an eighteen-year-old girl who was quite vulnerable when it came to certain things.

However, Adrian knew that if her parents knew, it would be easier to handle things if, by any chance in the future, others discovered her secret.

Elana took the cup, resting it on her lap as she asked, “What should I tell them, sir? Like… everything?”

Adrian took the seat across from her, his brows lifting. “Hmm?”

Elana hesitated, then finally asked, “Like… the fact that I might be somehow related to the Fallen God?”

From what Annabelle had told and shown them, the only mutual thing between the two women — aside from their fondness for a certain male — was their aversion to anything divine.

The Holy Mark Annabelle created had rejected Elana’s blood, which meant she might be connected to someone the Divine Ones loathed.

There was a high chance.

That was why Elana was unsure whether she should let her parents know everything.

“I am a little worried, sir, given my mother is a little religious,” she confessed.

Adrian hummed as he looked at her crestfallen expression. The way her thumb glided along the rim of the cup and her hesitant gaze was enough for him to make a decision.

“Alright, I will come with you to meet your father.”

Elana flinched, her eyes widening slightly. “Really, Professor?”

Adrian nodded. “I will talk to them and let them know things that might help your parents digest this news better. Well, if you are willing to let me meet them—”

“Yes! I mean, of course!” An excited Elana, practically beaming with joy, responded with several eager nods.

It was almost hilarious that the same girl who didn’t even smile when she defeated that golem — standing at the center of every appreciative gaze — was now smiling like a fool just because of this.

Smiling, he reached out and slowly rubbed her head. “Calm down, Elana.”

Elana’s face instantly turned beet red as she realized she had been practically hopping in her seat, the coffee barely managing not to spill over.

However, despite the embarrassment, she made no move to back away, quietly receiving his warmth.

Adrian soon pulled his hand back — much to Elana’s complaint — and said, “We will go once the exams are over. During your father’s birthday?”

Elana nodded. “Yes, that way you can be there during the celebration too.”

Adrian hummed, and the two fell into a brief silence, enjoying their coffee.

“It tastes good, like always,” Elana muttered after nearly finishing the beverage.

Adrian smiled. “I am glad you liked it.”

Just then, his eyes landed on the leather strap she had earlier set aside on the table. “By the way, can you show me your batons for a bit?”

Elana blinked, then nodded.

Resting her cup on the table, she grabbed her strap and took off the batons.

Adrian studied the runes on the armaments after fixing his glasses.

He hummed softly as he closely examined the patterns.

Out of curiosity, Elana asked, “What happened, Professor? Anything strange?”

Adrian, without lifting his eyes from the armaments, said, “While the runes are the same as when I tuned them, I feel a certain energy radiating from them which wasn’t there before.”

Elana tilted her head before Adrian asked, “Do you sense something strange, Professor?”

Adrian hummed before asking her, “Do you remember the testing spell you did when I turned the second thread?”

Elana nodded, “Yes, sir…but why?” It was a normal ice shard that pierced the empty container in the distance with quite accuracy and strength. But she couldn’t discern why it mattered.

Adrian asked her, “Can you perform that spell again?”

Despite being confused she couldn’t deny his request.

She took her baton and with a simple incantation, she swung the baton before an ice shard was launched, much larger than what she expected.

**DOOOOOM**

She aimed for the training doll in the corner, however, the shard exploded upon impact and the whole wall crumbled upon collision.

Elana stiffly turned towards the Professor, suddenly the face of a black and blue Elizabeth flashing by her eyes. However, the moment she looked at the Professor, she was surprised.

Rather than a frown, there was a bright smile on his face.

With a nod, she heard him saying, “I was right.”
