Chapter 1338: Monsters!
Becky knew he would ask her to do something at the upper realm, and yet that wasn’t enough. For a moment there, the thought of joining his guild flashed in his mind, and she started to seriously consider it when she started helping.
The formations he told her about were well known in the upper realm. There were few who would be considered as top-notch formations. Yet she knew all of them, and so she knew the process of preparing materials.
Luckily, he provided her with the materials needed. As she started working, she resisted the urge to ask him again.
“Don’t get distracted, we need to finish this as soon as possible,” William could read her mind without the need to ask anything. And yet his main focus was over building and finishing the defensive preparations around this region.
The hill area he picked was already too vast; it was at least the size of Lara’s city. Trying to cover this all up was going to take lots of time, effort, and resources. That was why he didn’t waste a single moment and started the work right away.
And when some of his guild masters asked if they could get help from the guild’s town, William refused. “We can’t attract any attention to this place, not before I’m content with the defensive measures.”
This place was going to be the heart of his guild and future of his masters. This place would be considered the most secretive, most important spot in his guild.
He knew what it meant to have such a higher form of spirit power under his control. Even in the higher realm, having such heaven would always bring forth tons of wars.
He didn’t need to check other places to know that this spot had the highest and purest spirit power in the world. Even the bombs he distributed earlier, they wouldn’t even get half close to how it was here.
He used twelve bombs to get such a result. “The only place who’ll have a result a bit better than others will be the kingdom,” William thought to himself, “I hope that king and old man will appreciate my help and gesture.”
He wasn’t aware that they deviated from the plan he drew for them and others.
As he was working like crazy on building the defensive layers for his treasure trove, the king, Sloth, and old masters were all sitting in the main palace, waiting in anticipation for the results from the three targets they picked.
“My liege, we got early reports from the Janko kingdom,” after half an hour, a young master came running, before bowing in front of his king, “the bomb exploded successfully, and the entire capital was gone with a large area around.”
“Direct hit! Hahaha, it’s a direct hit!” The leader of the kingdom’s armies couldn’t restrain his excitement from hearing the good news, “how about the devastation, is there any map sent to determine the range of damage?”
“Not yet, sir,” the master felt hesitant, “I was stationed in a faraway post. My team captain sent me here to bring the news, and he is out there with everyone trying to decide this point.”
“You did good,” the king raised a hand to stop his army leader from reprimanding the young master, “go back and help relay the news over once you got any.”
“Thanks, my liege,” the young master retreated, while two other masters relayed the same type of news in the next hour. The council gathered around the king and congratulated the king and themselves about this great success. Then they started to prepare for the era after the demolition of the three nearby kingdoms.
It wasn’t until half a day passed that different types of news started to flood the palace. And these were ugly!
“What are you talking about?!!” Sloth slowly stood from his seat, while a trembling young master, the one who brought the first piece of news from the Janko kingdom, was bowing in front of the king.
“It’s… It’s a massacre my lord,” the young master was covered in blood, with lots of wounds, looking a totally different person now. It was clear he ran away from a carnage, and he didn’t escape unscathed as it looked, “everyone… They died!”
“Those bastards!” another old master bellowed in rage, “did they have a strong army nearby or did they rally themselves this fast?!”
“My liege, we need to send reinforcements fast,” the army leader turned to the king, “let me lead the army we prepared for that kingdom, let me crush them and put this to an end!”
“Wait… Let’s hear more from him,” the king was this close to agree when Sloth suddenly said. His tone was weird, as if he was afraid of something. And he indeed was!
When that young master appeared again with all this blood and wounds, when he heard the unbelievable news of everyone’s death, Sloth couldn’t help but recall something.
He recalled how William acted stubborn and refused to take into consideration the possibility to use these bombs against their enemies. William looked like a kid sticking to his own plans and opinion back then. But now, Sloth felt something new.
It felt like William was afraid of something, that was how William’s strict refusal looked to Sloth. And realising this made him want to learn more about what happened at the Janko kingdom.
“Speak,” Sloth ignored the disapproving comments from his friends, “tell us, who killed your team? Who killed our kingdom’s elite masters?”
“Who else? It must be that perished kingdom’s elite guards or something like that,” the army leader didn’t like how Sloth was acting and was on the verge of angrily exploding onto Sloth’s face.
Yet what that wounded and terrified young master said next made everyone freeze in their places. “It… It wasn’t the Janko masters… It was… They were… Weird monsters!!!”
“Monsters?!” Sloth muttered in doubt, “was it a monster outbreak? At this time? How come?!!”
