Chapter 1335: The Hill Region
Yet William also warned them about doing something else, especially if some people grew greedy and decided to use the bombs against their enemies. William was slightly worried that Sloth and the king would act on their own accord and target their enemies. These bombs were scary, but they got something like unstoppable side effects if they got detonated in the open.
There would be a grand pollution, one that wouldn’t just leave behind crippled masters, but it would also pollute the spirit power in the areas they detonated at.
It was like officially declaring these lands dead zones for any human. And for monsters, they would experience a scary transformation, one that would leave behind any deadly monsters known in this world.
If Anjie was present in this meeting, she would definitely have spoken loud and clear about the deadly effects the kingdom would face out of this. And to make it even worse, the king and his trusted masters picked kingdoms close to them, seeing in this as a golden chance to expand, not realising the grave mistake they committed.
They were the only ones who tried to do so against William’s instructions. Everyone else made sure to follow his orders down to the letter.
William wasn’t aware of any of this. He was totally absorbed into making the formations, racing time to make sure everything was done before the deadline.
From time to time, he would take a break, taking a tour around, making sure everyone was working smoothly, and double checking the formations laid. He was looking for any missed gap or tunnel that would lead to the outside world.
“Great job so far,” William kept repeating this every time he went and checked on his guild masters. At first their progress speed wasn’t that good. But when more masters came from the guild town nearby, they started picking up the pace.
William knew these masters were the extras, as a bomb was going to detonate at the guild’s town. If it was up to him, he would prefer to move this bomb to be detonated with other bombs here. Yet he didn’t do it this way to keep this place as secretive as possible.
If he didn’t use a bomb at the guild’s town, then many would link this to the location he picked for the twelve bombs to detonate. So, he had to put one bomb at that town to drive away any peeking eyes around the lands close to it.
Time passed fast when you wanted to do something urgent. William made sure to keep track of the time, while checking the bombs from time to time. “We are almost there,” when he checked the bombs for the last time, he knew there was no more than three hours left for the bombs to explode.
“I’m done,” just one hour later, Becky’s voice came from behind, making William’s smile in response.
“Give me half an hour,” William paused, “can you run a check for me? Take a tour and see if anything is missing.”
“Sure,” Becky paused, “I want to know what will happen when the bombs explode…”
“There is like two hours left before you’ll see the answer right in front of your eyes,” William rolled his eyes before adding, “let’s do our task and everything will be clear later.”
“…” Becky felt like he was intentionally toying with her, yet he was partially guilty. In fact he didn’t have enough time to waste on explaining things, as he wanted to make another tour to be sure everything was done right.
As she didn’t get the answer she hoped for, she went ahead and started examining the place. As for the guild masters, they finished their work one hour after Becky finished hers.
William was done almost half an hour before the bombs would explode. “She is quite dependable,” when he looked around, he found no one in here, and he didn’t need to ask to know who led them away. He forgot to tell her about this, and yet she made the decision herself.
“I have to take a tour and distribute the bombs around,” William knew he had no time to waste. He grabbed the bombs and started to distribute them at a distance from each other.
He roughly knew the range of these bombs’ destruction. He didn’t know if letting two bombs exploding together would augment their deadly effect or bring forth any changes. So, he made sure to scatter the bombs away from each other, while spreading his spirit sense around.
“There is one hole left, must be left out for me,” William found no weakness in the tight formations laid in this area, except for a single tunnel. He threw away the last bomb, before dashing as fast as he could, passing through the tunnel to the upper ground.
“Close the hole,” William heard Becky’s voice coming the moment he passed through the tunnel. He planned to close it himself, yet she was half a beat faster than him.
“If you wanted to prove your worth to me, then you already passed,” William landed next to her, with a smile on his face.
“I just want to stay here,” Becky chuckled, “I feel like you’ll need my help.”
“I indeed need your help,” William turned his attention towards the hill region, “up there, not down here.”
The moment the tunnel got closed, William, Becky, and the guild masters around started to run as fast as they could. William told everyone there was less than ten minutes for the bombs to explode. And even if the formations were enough to entrap the explosions, William didn’t want to risk anything and led everyone away from this region.
They stopped a few miles away from the hills area, where the masters started to lay down protective formations just in case. Only William and Becky remained at the hills situated at the outer border of that area, overseeing the entire region from a high vintage point.
