Chapter 1333: Reaching Their Destination
“Who said we are lost?!” William gave her a weird look, “we are heading straight to the target!”
“Straight? We’ve been going in circles for the past few hours!” Lina raised an eyebrow, before placing her hand over William’s forehead, “are you alright? Do you feel sick or something?”
“Just tag along,” William turned his attention towards the front, “we are almost there.”
“Ok!” Lina didn’t help but think that William was just playing with her and everyone. And in fact, she was right!
William was indeed going on in circles! The issue was that his destination was very close to Lara’s city, and it wouldn’t take two hours to reach there. At the same time, it was closer to his guild’s town. And yet he made sure they would go on in circles, just in case someone would be following them from far behind.
“I believe this is enough,” William kept going on like this for two more hours, before he was sure they weren’t followed, “time to go there!”
“…” Lina gave him a silent look while he changed direction and headed nowhere else but back where they came from! She wanted to ask him if he was sure about this, if he was just toying with her and everyone. Yet after an hour, she realised he wasn’t fooling around.
“Isn’t this the place where lots of dark masters were?” Lina stood by his side when they stopped in front of lots of hills. It was the place of a brutal fight a long time ago, when they cleansed the dark master forces around Lara’s city after they joined the city forces.
“It’s indeed where those bastards lived,” William looked at this place with a grin on his face, “and it’s the perfect spot!”
“For what?! Don’t tell me…” Lina paused when a thought flashed over her mind. She looked at the happy and satisfied expression of William, and at the grand scene of hills in front of her, “you plan to let the bombs detonate here?!”
“It’s the perfect place for this,” William turned to Lina, “it’s close to our guild’s town, it’s a place we cleared from dark masters with our effort, and it’ll belong to our guild from this moment on!”
“Who said that?” Lina muttered, while William’s confident look and calm smile answered her question, “ah yeah, Lara will handle this.”
“If anyone rejected, they could come and find me,” William shrugged, saying this as if he was joking, “now bring all the boys over, also send a message to our guild’s town, anyone they can spare must come here to help.”
“Ok,” Lina went to do what he asked her to, while Becky stepped forward, “those bastards use the same method anywhere!”
“They work by very specific guidelines,” William laughed, “that makes it easier to spot and kill them.”
“You plan to fortify the underground space? You know it’s like a maze down there!”
“We have enough bombs to satisfy such a maze,” William pointed at the twelve bombs his men were carrying.
“You know that’s not what I was speaking about!”
“Don’t worry, I’ll ask for any help I can get,” William turned to look at her in a calm manner, “that’s including you of course.”
“You need my help in laying down the formations?!” She was startled for a moment, “I thought…”
“There is zero risk by being here,” William pointed at the hills, “and even if there were any remnants of those bastards, they aren’t a match for us!”
“Yet…”
“I can bring forth any master to work on the ground and walls,” William interrupted her, “yet the ceiling will be limited to only myself, and you!”
“I get it!” she paused, “but what will I get from doing that? Will you set me free?”
“I never intended to keep you around!” he raised an eyebrow, as if he was surprised by what she just said, “I never said that!”
“…” She didn’t know why, but at this moment she couldn’t decide if he was telling the truth or lying to her.
In fact, he never intended to keep her around, as he got something else in his mind for her, “I bet you are fooling around like always,” Lina came back and dropped this as a joke, “everything is ready! Our men are going down and starting to lay down formations. We’ll also expect a few more thousands coming from our town!”
“Good job,” William patted on her shoulder, before giving her more rings, “these are enough materials to cover the entire area in triple layers of formations.”
“Triple?! Are we going to lay down three layers?!!” She was taken aback by what he just said. And he simply smiled while motioning his head towards the twelve bombs.
“He doesn’t want to risk it when there are so many of these bombs,” Becky explained, and Lina got what the two meant.
“Leave it to me then,” She paused, “but we can’t handle the ceiling…”
“Leave that to me,” William turned to look in a certain direction, “can I entrust you with defending us while working down there?”
“Leave it to me!” Fang’s voice came from metres away, as he kept his distance, trying to look for any source of trouble to deal with.
He didn’t like the idea of working and laying formations. He saw himself as an aloof master who was so strong to fight against strong foes, not to work on building stuff.
So, when William gave him this task, he couldn’t help but heave a sigh of relief. He kept his distance to avoid getting assigned to any boring mission. And his trick worked as he hoped.
As he watched his masters go down through the holes and tunnels, Becky couldn’t help but ask: “Are you sure you want me to leave and return back to the upper world?”
“You have a very important mission up there,” William placed both hands behind him, “I don’t exaggerate when saying that your mission won’t only define the future of your order, but also the future of the entire world!”
“…”
