Chapter 1291: Global Manhunt Part 15
“These are the list of people and their bases,” Xu Feng forwarded the message to Carmen and informed her.
A few seconds later, Carmen’s eyes squinted in a cold light.
“They sure are courting death!” She clicked her tongue and found these people extremely ridiculous. They were even more despicable than the Miracle Pavilion.
At the very least, the Miracle Pavilion dared to openly confront them versus these hiding rats.
These rats not only orchestrated things behind the scenes, but they also tried to frame their movement to others.
However, what truly alarmed Carmen a bit was that someone from the Illuminati had lent a hand.
She wanted to speak up, but recalled Zhang Jingyi was still here.
When Zhang Jingyi noticed Carmen’s gaze, she quickly discerned the meaning.
“I’ll move ahead first,” Zhang Jingyi softly said.
Carmen nodded and promptly sent a large, tiny army of voidlings to be attached to her.
Once that was done, Zhang Jingyi’s silhouette vanished like the wind.
Her movement speed and quiet sound made it seem like she was an Assassin, rather than a swordsman.
“She definitely has a fearsome hidden class.” Carmen narrowed her eyes and uttered.
She had sensed a powerful aura emitted from her in the very beginning. It was concealed and suppressed quite well, but her sensitivity was high enough to detect the danger.
“It’s a good thing we didn’t become enemies then.” Xu Feng mused. He was also a bit curious as to what kind of hidden class Zhang Jingyi had promoted him into.
He held no recollection or interaction with her in the past timeline.
Their coincidental encounter in the early stages could become a valuable asset in luring her into the guild.
Since he had added her as a friend, he could see she was guildless.
While Xu Feng held some thoughts to recruit her, Carmen finally spoke up about what she wanted to say earlier.
“By the way, why is Natasha from the Illuminati helping us?” She raised the question. If she recalled properly, Natasha held some hostility toward them.
They even participated in the siege previously alongside Luther of the Miracle Pavilion, but were convinced to leave the siege.
“Because she’s a clever woman.” Xu Feng flatly replied.
“The allies that Luther found were full of parasites. Just entering the fray with them would result in self-destruction.”
In this timeline, Luther had really fallen from his glory position. The desperate action to clutch onto the Miracle Pavilion was on full display with this move.
Unfortunately, Luther was destined to fail and be eliminated in the race.
“Once this Global Manhunt event is over, he’ll be kicked out officially and sent to prison.” Xu Feng commented.
“Sent to prison?”
“Mhmm, this man is a through-and-through bastard. The number of women harmed under his belt was too numerous to count. But his background and connection made it difficult to convict him.”
“Tsk, it’s another one of those disgusting men!”
Instantly, Carmen’s impression of Luther dropped to an extreme negative.
Although Xu Feng was subtle in his statement, it was pretty obvious what he meant.
“So he managed to find these allies by using women, too, right?” Carmen inquired. Having watched many short dramas to study lately, she reckoned this was the most likely scenario.
To use women as tools to lure people into cooperation was one of the most despicable means ever. Not only was it a cheap tactic, but it was also an insult to women.
“Mhmm, Natasha also investigated them and had the same reaction as you.” Xu Feng replied. He also found the strategy despicable, but he was no innocent party either.
In the past timeline, he had also interacted with such people and personally witnessed how the women were being treated. Maybe the only saving grace was that he personally took a few women under his belt in disguise, but secretly gave them a leeway out.
He could tell some of them didn’t have a choice and were forced by their circumstances.
“Anyway, should we make our way to the town?” Carmen no longer asked questions. Time was ticking down.
“You will head to the town.” He instructed, his gaze shifted to another place.
“I’ll be heading toward the Azure Lair.”
The Azure Lair was somewhat adjacent to the Twilight Glades, albeit with fewer natural resources. Nevertheless, the attraction remained high because of the Azure Dungeon located in the central region.
Within the central region, it just so happened that some of the Super Guilds involved in the Global Manhunt currently had an elite team participating in the dungeon.
When Carmen realized what he planned to do, she held a skeptical gaze. “Are you sure it’s wise to split up?”
“I trust you can defend the town alone.” Xu Feng smiled warmly. “I also want something in the Azure Dungeon.”
Having said that, his memories surfaced about the Tuning Bloom Guild.
They happened to obtain an Azure Horse Mount, which was of the Epic rank.
And now that the Tuning Bloom Guild was raiding the Azure Dungeon ahead of schedule, Xu Feng wondered if there was a possibility of them receiving the mount in advance.
Since the butterfly effect was active, it would be ridiculous to not adapt to the change and take advantage of it.
‘I’m not robbing people. I’m just going to keep them in a safe place on their behalf.’ Xu Feng justified his magnanimous desire.
“You look so evil, Guild Leader.” Carmen cleared her throat and commented. She then covered herself and glanced around their surroundings.
“It can’t be that you wanted to take me down here, right? This place is so discreet and quiet.”
“Seriously, Carmen… Please stop watching short dramas anymore. Your time as director is over, and you are no longer required to learn their brain-rotting script line.” Xu Feng pleaded. He really regretted giving her the director’s role.
Her whole personality seemed to have changed since that day.
“Hmph, you really don’t know what’s good for you.” Carmen clicked her tongue and opened a void portal.
“I hope you don’t regret today’s decision.”
