Chapter 691: A chaotic conversation in the jungle (part 1)
Listening to the confident voice, whose origin the representative from the church of light couldn’t directly pinpoint, Sera turned to see Femi to then say.

“Tell your subordinate to elaborate, what does he mean with that Adam won’t be arriving anytime soon, we are getting short on time here, so this is not the time for him to be playing around anymore…”, only for Femi to raise an eyebrow as she interrupted Sera.

“Subordinate?”, she said, to which Sera further explained.

“Yeah, that masked light and metal affinity knight which Marcus mentioned, Adam sent him to guard both you and that alfear girl, while he was taking care of some other important matters, after securing the princess from the Light Palace, right?”, she said with a bitter and annoyed voice.

Which made Femi chuckle, before her expression turned hostile.

“You know, though it’s good to see that our dear team leader once again perfectly predicted the situation, it does kind of anger me that we were seen as mindless fangirls of that bastard”, said the dwarf princess.

“Dear leader, mindless fangirls, bastard, you… you aren’t under Adam’s influence anymore!”, it took Sera a couple of seconds, in which she mumbled some of the words spoken by Femi earlier, before she exclaimed the second half of her sentence in disbelief.

“We never were, but as of current I’m more interested in learning why weren’t you and yet you are still following that guy”, said Tessa who just came out from behind one of the many trees.

Without Sera noticing, the fight was moved onto the side of the jungle that was under the alfear princess’s influence, when Badr tackled that lust nethereal earlier, so now Sera was blocked by Femi at the front and by Tessa at the back.

That being said and contrary to what one would have expected, Sera didn’t turn hostile right away, but she shook her head instead.

“Look, if you are acting like this because you are angry about being tricked by him, you better calm down and think things through, you little girls will need more backing than just the Hepha and Evergreen families to get any kind of revenge against Adam, that is if your own families didn’t already agree to cooperate with him, knowing full well what it meant for you two, in order to get a share of the prize”, she said.

The previous made Tessa and Femi exchange gazes for a second, before they smirked at each other, to then look at the surrounding jungle as they said in unison.

“Is that enough?”.

“Yeah, even if we don’t get anything else from her, I can work something up with that information”, said Daimon as he came out from behind one of the trees.

Seeing the masked silver haired youth, which Marcus has mentioned caused quite the disturbance at Neptune, Sera sighed.

“This makes a bit more of sense, a subordinate that has grown greedy after experiencing the “benefits” of following that guy, trying to stage a coup, after somehow helping those two get rid of Adam’s influence”.

“Do yourself a favor and stop at once, those two girls will be fine, Adam went to great lengths to get in contact with them, but not only are you a man but you also are trying to go against him, you’ll die if he gets to know about it”, she said, which made Daimon softly laugh behind his mask.

“No need to worry about that, dead people can’t receive any news, but even if that wasn’t the case, what could a weakling like him would have been able to do anyway”, he said as he snaped his fingers, in response, thorned roots emerged from the ground around Sera.

Naturally, those were the ones from the giant tree, Sera’s energy is at the early stage of the Arch rank as of current, so to quickly subdue her, an enemy of a similar rank was the best choice, like the thorn wood knight for example.

Even then, Sera was actually quick enough to jump into the air to avoid the thorned roots, she still had that calm expression, accompanied by her closed eyes, but her voice was much more serious as she turned to see Tessa and Femi.

“Don’t be deceived, regardless of distance we from the Church of Light would have been informed if something happened to Adam, it’s too late for that masked guy but I don’t wish for more young ones like you two, to die meaninglessly like that girl from the Penddra family, help me put things in order and I promise, that I won’t tell a soul about this whole situation”, she said as her body started radiating a bright white light, only for her energy’s dazzle to be shadowed by a large object that appeared above her.

“For someone that isn’t under that trash’s charm, you really have quite the strong confidence in him”, said Arianna who was surrounded by the giant red wolf that was falling onto Sera.

“What is that!”, the representative from the church of light was taken by surprise, by the sudden appearance of an Arch rank challenger on the enemy’s side, not to mention that huge red wolf which blocked her retreat, and as if that wasn’t enough, the thorned roots from earlier, tangled together and compressed to take a humanoid form.

And before Sera could react, she was being held down against the ground by the giant paws of the red wolf, while the thorned whip of the wood knight was restraining her body, mainly her neck, that being said she had finished preparing her technique just in time.

“Burning Radian…”, unfortunately, the tall scarred man which she had stopped paying attention to, since the appearance of the thorned roots and that giant red wolf, was done with his preparations long before the clash even started.

“Gate of Binding”, following Badr’s words, a black translucent box made out of energy encased Sera, who was released just in time by Arianna and the wood thorn knight, so that she could be restrained properly by it.

“Darkness affinity energy, you little girls have done it now, even if it shouldn’t be the case, as regardless of affinity a good ally should always be welcomed, he does have quite the hate towards negative oriented elements”, said Sera as her body exploded in white energy.

She remained calm even now, because her energy has light property and thus a darkness restriction was useless against her, or at least that’s what she believed.

“Mm?”, Sera frowned as she saw her white energy colliding against the black energy prison that was restraining her, only to be stopped by a thin silver layer that appeared on the inside of the prison.

Then no matter how much of her energy did she release, the result remained the same, which shouldn’t be the case, the area she was lacking is attack power, since she isn’t a corrosive light type mage, so the energy she obtained in the Blood Prison realm is offense centered, though she still had some healing techniques available.

“Don’t bother, you see, today’s aspect was “Reinforcement”, so while normally that energy of yours could have caused some cracks to appear on Badr’s technique, and break through it after some time, with my energy in the mix you’ll need offensive on par with the peak of the Arch rank to even leave a scratch on it now”, said Daimon with a bittersweet voice.

Once again, the desired attack power aspect didn’t come his way, instead of that he got the interesting capacity to boost the properties in which the energies of others focused, in Badr’s case, toughness used for attack means.

‘I thought this energy was just messing with me at this point, but this is actually not a bad result’, thought Daimon as he saw Sera radiating white energy like crazy in a try to break free from the restrictions, only to end up frustrated by the fact that her energy didn’t leave a single scratch on the silver layer that covered Badr’s technique.

‘What is going on, that tall man’s darkness energy is not at the Arch rank so my own energy could destroy it, and yet it can’t pierce through the light energy of that masked youth… and what did he even mean with “today’s aspect” to begin with, just what kind of power was he bestowed by that irresponsible chosen one’, cursed Sera.

As if Daimon could read what was in her mind, he turned to see the dwarf princess as well as the wood thorn knight.

“We need to have a little conversation with our new “friend”, please keep the other guys occupied in the meantime”, he said, to which Femi nodded in response, while the wood thorn knight only reacted after Tessa spoke to it.

“Keep her out of trouble”, she said referring to Femi, who softly snorted in response.

…

Having parted ways with Femi and the wood thorn knight who were in charge of the fighting with the groups sent by Marcus, so that they would think everything was going like always, Daimon and the others returned to the giant tree and entered the wood castle.

Fun fact, Claire who was left behind “alone”, not because she could be trusted, but because the wood castle was watching over her, so if she tried anything, she would be turned into a skewer in a second, saw in fear how Daimon returned with a new prisoner, which was under more heavily restrictions than her, and she immediately put on a cooperative smile, afraid that she will end up like that.

But let’s leave that aside for the time being, with a wave of her hand, Tessa made the wood castle double the width of its walls, and also create a “slot” for Sera’s prison to be placed in, so that thorned roots were wrapped around the area of her neck, in case she tried to escape, she would have to leave her head behind, literally.

“You guys from the church of light have quite the reputation, so though the roles are reversed this time, this shouldn’t be anything new to you, are you going to speak or do we have to make you do it?”, casually said Arianna to which Sera limited to shake her head.

“You should worry about yourself, girl from the Argent family, the White Fang galaxy does stand at the losing end regardless of which of us ends up winning, that being said, I don’t think you’ll believe me but if I speak, I’ll die, anything I see or hear eventually reaches Adam, so try your best, that’s all you’ll get from me”, she said to then tightly close her lips.

Now, Daimon has heard other people say similar things many times before, to then immediately break after less than a minute at Horal’s hands, but just like he can tell when someone is going to talk, he can also realize when someone is not going to, though this is actually the first time he finds someone like that, so far.

It’s not like Daimon has any inclination towards torture, nor does he enjoy the process unlike some crazy psychos out there, in fact if his enemies spilled the beans, he wouldn’t waste time on them and immediately would send them off, besides some really specific cases of bastards that do deserve to suffer, like those guys from the tribes that put nails into the bodies of Scarlet and the others, just to force them to become basically sex slaves.

But he certainly has interrogated at least two digits worth of people, between the training he received from the Punishment elder of the Revy family at Erin’s request, and through the real situations that had required him to, though the role of torturer was gladly taken by Horals who had no regards to the lives of anyone but his young master and those close to him, later on.

‘Such determination normally would mean one is ready to die in order to not speak, but she clearly wants to live, so she does really believe that Adam is alive and is afraid of him getting a wind of she saying anything’, thought Daimon, as he said.

“I had a hunch about it, but you really are aware of how “magical” that guy was, right?”, naturally he was hinting at the fact that Adam was a system user, and as Daimon expected, Sera reacted to it, against her will, though, her eyelids slightly trembled since she heard Daimon pointing at such a secret subject.

Though her assumption as of current, is that Daimon was given power by Adam and then he rebelled because he was blinded by greed and wanted, what was exclusive of Adam, she refused to believe that Adam had told him the truth, after all, even within the church of light, besides the leading figures, and themselves, everyone thought of him as the “chosen one” and that was it.

“I don’t know why you know about that, but you are just dooming yourself and causing troubles to anyone that listens to you, by deepening into that…”, she said to which Daimon smirked behind his mask in response.

“It’s a shame that a certain cute girl destroyed his sword which would have worked as a proof of it, but you should recognize this as well, right?”, he said as he showed the white crystal feather pendant that hanged from his neck, which was invisible for others until a second ago.

“T-The hero’s pendant, no it can’t be, let alone using it, only he can do as much as approach it!”, she exclaimed in surprise, which only confirmed Daimon’s suspicions.

‘I see, that explains why she believed Adam was perfectly fine even until now’, he thought.

Whatever mean Sera should be using to determine the status of Adam, it wasn’t directly related to his life or death, but to his system instead, just think about it, she said that she could tell if he died, regardless of distance.

Not even Lyn could confidently say that, in fact the only one that has experienced a true permanent connection to determine one’s status, is Daimon, he can do so with the soulmates, an ability he has access to through the system.

In other words, Sera could feel the “existence” of Adam’s system and the church of light wrongly believed that was the same as Adam being alive, well they could be excused on this matter, because normally the administrator leaves alongside their system when the user dies.

The angel girl could only stay behind, because she was using the origin she has saved, for who knows how many years, it was a bet she took after seeing Daimon crush Adam so directly and getting to know he is a system user, whose existence she couldn’t see through.

Of course, Sera didn’t know that the crystal feather pendant is the physical manifestation of Adam’s system, but she knew that only Adam could touch said pendant and he had it around his neck at all times, so the fact that someone else had it, a man at that, made her belief of Adam being perfectly fine, shake a little.

Now imagine her expression, when the crystal feather pendant disappeared and from her point of view, Adam suddenly died.

“What!”, of course the pendant was just sent to the inventory for a split of a second, with Ariel’s tacit agreement by the way, before it returned and so the connection was now there again.

“I’m really interested in knowing how come you have such a connection with that guy, so let’s do it like this, if you speak you live, if not, we’ll you can go join him”, said Daimon as he took out another “object” from the inventory, a blond corpse to be more accurate, naturally that was Adam.

Sera’s pupils contracted like needles, but before she could say anything, the corpse was returned to the inventory, and now they only had to wait for Sera’s decision, well, truth to be told Daimon already knew what it will be, after all Daimon only gambles when he is sure he is going to win.

In this case, the absolute constant was that Sera had an incredible desire to live, the reason as to why she wasn’t speaking wasn’t out of loyalty, but because she knew she was going to die if she did so, but now not only was the one to whom her actions were being reported, gone, but also the other party dared to kill him, in other words if she didn’t speak, she was a hundred percent dead.

Having accepted that fact, Sera directly gazed at Daimon as if she wanted to see through his mask to then say.

“Who are you, the tokens were supposed to take us to a place that didn’t pose any deathly threat to the chosen ones, so you can’t be a native of Neptune, at the same time, a dual affinity knight, one with light affinity wouldn’t be unknown in the four galaxies, especially not for the church of light?”.

“Let’s not get sidetracked, we are the ones making the questions here”, answered Daimon, to which Sera changed her question.

“I’m playing with my life on the stake here, if you want me to speak, you’ll have to give me some guarantee as well, are you…”, before she could finish her sentence, Daimon casually interrupted her.

“Let’s just say that danger due to the influence from Adam is a normal Tuesday for me”, he said, which made Sera open her eyes and keep them like that for a change, revealing the yellow star-like shape that shone in her blue right pupil.

“What do you want to know”, she said, making Daimon steal a gaze at Tessa to then say.

“What was that guy’s objective with those two?”, of course he wanted to know because those two princesses are his friends now, but there was another doubt that has been lingering in Daimon’s mind until now.

Tessa and Femi weren’t among the “requirements” of the opportunity he stole from Adam, which was Neptune’s mission, neither were they on the side of Marcus, and yet it was obvious that Adam put a lot of importance to them.

Because unlike that girl from the Penddra family, which was basically a toy and a sponsor for Adam, he wanted to impress Tessa and Femi and though he used that charm to increase their favorability towards him, he didn’t lay his hands on them, similar to how he started with Jasmine, before being forced to trash his plan due to the crazy girl’s interference.

Sure, you could argue that those two’s families influence was a good enough reason, but if he only needed that, their destiny would have been the same as that girl from the Penddra family, so that wasn’t the case.

“Just so we are in the same page, I’m not informed of everything, in fact I know little, compared to the Arch Cardinal, however Adam has… ahem, had the habit of speaking too much in front of me”, she said, which made Daimon raise an eyebrow behind his mask.

“I have zero doubts about him being a fool, but why specifically do so in front of you?”, he asked.

“Because his tricks didn’t work on me, and he of course was decided to turn me into one of his, what did the dwarf princess called them, ah right, “mindless fangirls”, so the idea was to impress me, I guess”, she said.

“Ugh, now I’m actually starting to feel bad for her”, mumbled Tessa, Adam’s influence on her was destroyed due to Daimon interacting with her, since it had just started to take form in her mind, so she actually didn’t notice it.

So, you can imagine her anger when she got to know about the subject from Daimon, especially after listening from the similar situation which Jasmine went through, which ended with her being abandoned to die by him.

Daimon on the other hand was more interested in why didn’t Adam’s charm ability work in Sera, when even for Sarah it had some slight effect, unfortunately for him, regardless of favorability, lust couldn’t be hidden from her eyes and she was innately resistant against mind affecting techniques, not to mention that her extreme negative orientated affinities were at odds with Adam’s ones.
