Chapter 324: BLOOD VS LIGHTNING I
“Don’t piss me off and get in my way. I will have to kill them for arrogantly killing my subordinates before me,” the elemental orc warned Void, anger written on his face as well.
His tusks ground together audibly, veins throbbing along his thick neck, the electric blue of his eyes intensifying with each heaving breath that filled the inn with a charged tension.
“Guess you will have to die in the end,” Void sighed, his voice carrying a faint note of resignation, shoulders lifting slightly under his coat as if the outcome were an unfortunate inevitability.
He dashed quickly toward the elemental orc, delivering a kick.
The movement was a blur, his boot cutting through the air with a sharp whoosh, aimed at the orc’s midsection.
The elemental orc blocked the kick with his great sword, but was forced backward by the impact from the kick.
The clash resonated with a metallic clang, the force sending vibrations up his arms, his massive feet skidding across the floorboards and splintering wood in their wake.
“Sir! You wouldn’t want to destroy your favorite inn. I beg of you, sir, please take the fight elsewhere,” the inn owner begged the elemental orc one last time.
His voice trembled, hands clasped together in desperation, eyes darting between the combatants and the cracked walls of his beloved establishment.
The elemental orc took a deep breath, annoyed, but finding the words of the inn owner to be true.
His chest expanded with the inhale, the scent of spilled ale and blood mingling in his nostrils, a flicker of reluctant reason crossing his stormy features.
“I hope you don’t dare to run from this fight. You all will be dying today,” he threatened Void, his words laced with venom, a low growl rumbling from deep within his throat.
Deciding to follow the words of the inn owner, he exited the inn, his subordinates following after him.
The door swung open with a creak, the cool night air rushing in, carrying the distant hum of the nebula’s bustling streets, his heavy steps thudding against the cobblestones outside.
“Well, at least he’s civilized. It’s not every time you see an orc having protocol,” Michael joked, a wry smile tugging at his lips, the tension easing slightly in the sudden quiet of the inn.
Void ignored the words of Michael, exiting the inn as well.
His coat fluttered behind him, the fabric whispering against the doorframe, his expression unchanging as he stepped into the starlit night.
Michael and Isobel followed behind Void, their footsteps lighter, the air outside crisp and laced with the faint metallic tang of impending storm.
“Hmph. You should have run away when you had the chance!” the elemental orc advised, his stance widening on the dusty street, shadows playing across his green hide under the flickering lanterns.
With his great sword in his hand, and lightning still dancing off him, he moved toward Void in an instant, striking his sword downward.
Arcs of electricity trailed the blade, illuminating the night in brief flashes, the swing aimed to split Void from shoulder to hip.
Void sidestepped, escaping the blow with ease.
The sword embedded into the ground with a thunderous crack, sending up a spray of dirt and sparks that stung the air.
Manipulating his blood, he created several blood spikes.
The crimson liquid coalesced from his pores, hardening into razor-sharp points that gleamed wetly in the low light.
The blood spikes were directed toward the elemental orc, hurtling forward like arrows loosed from a bow, whistling through the night air.
Like a seasoned dancer, the elemental orc dodged every blood spike, the lightning improving his reflexes.
His body twisted and flowed, muscles rippling under his skin, each evasion leaving afterimages of electric glow.
Void, though, retained the advantage, releasing more blood spikes toward the elemental orc.
The barrage intensified, the spikes multiplying in a relentless storm, the metallic scent of blood thickening the atmosphere.
The elemental orc weaved through them while slowly being pushed backward by the continuous assault.
Sweat beaded on his brow, mixing with the electric hum that vibrated through his frame, his breaths coming in ragged bursts.
Not willing to remain on the defense, the elemental orc pushed forward.
Determination hardened his gaze, tusks bared in a snarl as he surged against the tide.
Instead of dodging while moving backward, he moved forward, deflecting what he could not dodge with his great sword.
The blade clanged against the spikes, shattering them into viscous droplets that sizzled on the ground.
He pushed forward bit by bit until he arrived some feet away from Void, the distance closing with each defiant step, the ground scarred from the impacts.
“Got you!” the elemental orc smiled, swinging his great sword toward the neck of Void as fast as he could, while exerting a lot of strength on the swing.
Triumph flashed in his eyes, the blade howling through the air with lethal intent.
Lightning was conducted through the great sword as it traveled toward Void’s neck, the energy crackling along the edge, casting erratic shadows on the surrounding buildings.
“Stop your attack at once,” Void commanded, his eyes glowing red as he cast a hypnosis on the elemental orc.
The crimson light pierced the night, his voice weaving into the orc’s mind like invisible threads.
With little resistance against mental attack, the elemental orc halted his actions.
His muscles locked mid-swing, the sword trembling inches from Void’s skin, confusion flickering in his electrified gaze.
As ruthless as he could be, Void drove his hand toward the very chest of the elemental orc.
His fingers extended like claws, aiming for the heart, the motion swift and unforgiving.
Zzzttt.
Void was forced to withdraw his hand, lightning repelling his hand while also trying to zap him.
The shock jolted through his arm, a sharp sting that made his fingers tingle, sparks dancing across his skin.
His actions created an opening, which the elemental orc, no longer under hypnosis, capitalized on.
Clarity snapped back into his eyes, the jolt breaking the mental hold with a surge of raw energy.
The elemental orc did not bother swinging his great sword because of haste.
Time was too precious, the moment too fleeting for a full wind-up.
He threw a punch instead toward the face of Void.
