Chapter 305: 304: WEAVING TRUTH AND LIES
While using the phantom mask to alter the face of the clone, he disguised himself in layers of illusion, shifting features into unfamiliar masks that blended seamlessly with the chaos of battle. The clones raided the nebula in overwhelming numbers, swarming like a relentless tide that overpowered defenses with sheer volume.

Before merging and devouring it, the clones struck with coordinated precision, dismantling strongholds and scattering fleets in displays of calculated fury. The nebula’s stars dimmed under the assault, their light fading as Aaron’s power consumed them whole.

His actions, of course, were deliberate and calculated to help King in his quest. The mysterious disappearances sowed seeds of fear and urgency across the galaxy, creating ripples that King could exploit masterfully.

And King did not disappoint. He navigated the web of intrigue with cunning grace, turning the chaos into opportunities that advanced their shared goals.

“I’m sure you have spies within this galaxy that tell you things and feed you with information?” King walked toward Chen Ye, who sat meditating within his training room alongside Chen Wo. The chamber was dimly lit by flickering lanterns, incense smoke curling lazily through the air like ethereal serpents.

“I thought I made it clear to you to never come to this training room unannounced?” Chen Ye asked, a deep frown creasing his face. He remained seated in lotus position, his blindfold absorbing the light, the pressure emanating from it thickening the atmosphere like an unspoken warning.

“Ten nebulas have disappeared from the galaxy within just ten days. If it continues like this, the entire galaxy will be devoured within 1000 days, or they might speed up the process and conquer the entire galaxy. Perhaps that’s when you will take the situation seriously,” King clapped back sharply.

He ignored Chen Ye’s reproach about barging into the training room unannounced, speaking his mind with bold directness. The incense’s woody scent mingled with the rising tension, the runes on the walls glowing faintly in response.

After spending some time with the Chen brothers, King had gained a basic understanding of their characters. They thrived on challenge, disdaining weakness or submission, drawn to those who met their gaze without flinching.

They weren’t fans of someone who could easily bend to their wills or cower before their strength. Instead, they respected those who could stand toe-to-toe, always primed for conflict, unconcerned with odds of triumph or defeat.

“I’m aware. And I’m working on a solution,” Chen Ye informed King, his voice cool and controlled. He unfolded from his meditative pose slowly, the cultivator robe settling around him like flowing silk.

“Working on it? It seems you remain as unbothered as ever. I won’t be part of this though. I guess I will have to find my way out myself,” King said, annoyance clearly written across his face. He crossed his arms, standing firm amid the rune-etched walls.

“You haven’t told me the reason you killed the man. And the reason you are hell-bent on destroying his friends as well,” Chen Ye asked, his tone shifting to one of probing interest. The blindfold pulsed subtly, as if attuned to the unfolding narrative.

King paused, staring at Chen Ye with a blank face that gradually contorted into visible annoyance. It was as if delving into the tale stirred unwelcome memories, his jaw clenching tightly under the strain.

“I was once one of them. A small group of people at first that stumbled on a chalice that grants immortality to all those that drank from it. We started as just four friends, promising to use the chalice for just the four of us,” King narrated, his face twisting further into anger with each word. The training room’s dim light cast harsh shadows on his features, emphasizing the raw emotion.

“But greed, and the belief of rising to conquer the universe, they broke our promise to each other, recruiting others to our cause. Of course, I fought against their actions, and being all alone is the reward for my opposition,” King twisted so many lies into his story, but as the words left his mouth, they rang no different from absolute truth for any who might scrutinize their validity. His eyes burned with feigned fury, the deception woven seamlessly into his delivery.

“Now he is dead. But two more of them bear the chalice. We need to stop them before they increase their numbers even more. The more time that passes, the more people they add to their ranks while conquering the universe slowly,” King finished, staring deep into Chen Ye’s blindfold as if laying bare his soul. His expression conveyed a profound emptiness, like a man stripped raw by betrayal’s sting.

“I see,” Chen Ye nodded his head, his desire to defeat the so-called allies of Aaron surging strongly within him. The chalice’s promise tugged at his ambitions, a covetous hunger hidden beneath the blindfold’s ominous veil, his fingers twitching faintly with anticipation.

He craved the chalice, and his desire was not so easily concealed from King’s perceptive gaze. The air in the training room grew thicker, the incense smoke swirling as if stirred by the undercurrents of greed.

“You don’t have to worry. You will have your revenge. I have put some contingencies in place to ensure that,” Chen Ye promised, a sly smile creeping across his face. The expression held a predatory edge.

“Just what are you planning?” king asked, a knot of unease twisting in his gut about whatever scheme Chen Ye was brewing. His voice carried a hint of caution, echoing softly in the dimly lit chamber where incense smoke curled lazily through the air.

“It’s better you see it with your own eyes,” Chen Ye replied with a smile, his expression lighting up like an expectant child on the verge of revealing a hidden treasure.

It didn’t take long to get his answer. The chamber’s heavy wooden doors creaked open, admitting a soft draft that stirred the incense smoke into swirling patterns.

Qin Luo appeared before the trio, her figure graceful and composed as she bowed her head respectfully. Her cultivator robe flowed smoothly with the motion, the fabric whispering against the stone floor. Her presence brought a sense of formality to the room, her eyes lowered in deference.

“The special guests you were expecting have arrived,” she informed Chen Ye, her voice steady and clear, cutting through the lingering haze of smoke without a trace of hesitation.
