Chapter 233: Advance Goddammit!
“Boss… it seems like we won’t be doing anything.” one of the Awakened muttered nervously, lowering her trembling hand as raw mana flickered around her fingertips.

Lucius turned his head toward her so slowly and so disappointed that she visibly shrank.

“Are you mad?” he asked calmly. “Keep charging up.”

“Yes, Boss!” she squeaked, jerking her hand upward again as the mana around her doubled in intensity.

Lucius exhaled once through his nose.

He knew this wasn’t going to be easy.

It was an A-rank dungeon, but even among A-ranks, there were those cursed anomalies. And this one? Something felt wrong from the very beginning.

His suspicion was confirmed when the exploded centipede head… previously crushed by the Supreme Guild’s coordinated blast suddenly twitched.

The brain, which had fallen from the ruined skull, pulsed with mana.

Flash.

The head regenerated instantly, reforming its mandibles, eyes, and armor plates. The creature screeched, a terrible grinding hiss that echoed off the black wold.

And the brain… the glowing brain split birthing a second monstrous centipede entirely.

This one wasn’t as large as the first, but it was long, snakelike, and outrageously fast.

“On guard immediately!” Lucius barked.

The smaller centipede lunged like a thrown spear toward the Supreme Guild. Its entire body rippled with mana as it cut through the air.

Lucius didn’t panic.

He only turned his eyes.

“Ayela. Go on.”

Ayela inhaled sharply with her jaw clenched. “Understood.”

She grabbed Supreme Man from the arms of the guild member holding him up; the man looked like his soul had died hours ago, though his body was perfectly functional.

She tightened her grip… took a deep breath and then threw him.

Wind surged violently as the spell amplified her strength mid-throw. Supreme Man became an unwilling projectile launched straight toward the charging centipede.

The monster snapped open its mouth, rows upon rows of serrated teeth glimmering like steel daggers.

It bit down… and the teeth shattered instantly upon contact, disintegrating into dust.

The centipede screamed, screeching in agony, flailing its mandibles as it immediately spat Supreme Man back out like he burned its throat.

Supreme Man floated away, screaming. “WHY DO I ALWAYS SUFFER?!!!!”

Ayela appeared beside the monster’s face in a burst of wind.

Ayela pulled her arm back, holding the small mana stone Lucius had given her in it.

The stone throbbed… and so did her mana.

She exhaled once, and the world shook.

Wind exploded outward violently.

Her output skyrocketed… not doubled… not tripled.

It quadrupled.

The gust was so intense that even the larger centipede in the distance faltered, its body skidding half a meter off the ground as the pressure knocked it off balance.

Ayela threw her punch.

The air compressed around her fist into a spiraling bullet of green wind.

The point of impact hit the centipede’s skull.

CRACK… BOOM!!

Its entire head caved in like a collapsing mountain.

The monster’s body flung backward through the cavern like it had been hit by a siege weapon, slamming into the wall with a thunderous crash.

Shockwaves blasted outward across the battlefield, bright green rings of compressed air shaking dust from the cavern ceiling.

Ayela steadied her breathing, looking back toward Lucius. He gave her a single nod.

It meant more to her than the punch she had just thrown.

She shattered the dimensium in her palm.

The infusion hit her like a tidal wave… a new flood of strength surged through her veins and her eyes glowed a razor-sharp green.

‘I feel… strong.’

Ayela blurred forward.

Her body became a streak of light… a comet of wind wrapped in green mana as she shot toward the centipede that was still flying backward through the cavern.

She compressed wind around her limbs again and again, building up speed until her figure vanished entirely, replaced only by streaks of green spiraling in the air.

“Take every bit of skin off and destroy the brain too, to be sure.” Lucius’ voice echoed in her ear, carried by space magic.

She gritted her teeth. “On it!”

From the guild’s perspective, all they saw was a cyclone forming around the smaller centipede… a violent tornado of emerald wind shredding flesh from bone.

It was brutal and it was fast.

In seconds, the wind tore the entire monster apart. When the cyclone dispersed, only a skeleton remained… it had been stripped clean with no core and no brain.

It was dead for real.

“What the fuck…” they muttered in unison.

But there was no time to celebrate… because the main centipede let out an earth-shaking roar.

The big one was pissed.

Its shadow swallowed the entire party as it surged downward toward them.

Ayela reappeared beside Lucius, panting heavily, her arms trembling as the last of her mana left her body.

“I… managed to do it…” she breathed.

Lucius placed a hand atop her head gently and pulled her down so she lay across his lap.

“You’ve done enough. Leave it to us.”

His voice was confident.

The rest of Supreme Guild stood behind him.

Lucius’s coat fluttered from the incoming wind as his eyes narrowed at the massive centipede rushing toward the others like an avalanche of armored plates.

“Alright, Supreme Guild.”

He pointed at the Boss.

“Advance, Goddammit!”

Luna bated her breaths… the feeling of this long-ass monster… this skyscraper-sized abomination descending upon them was like watching a whole damn building topple forward.

The air trembled, mana rippled violently, and every instinct in her body screamed to run.

But she raised her hands anyway.

‘I’ll burn through most of my energy if I try to stop the momentum since it’s so big… I’d have a better chance using Momentum Shift though to redirect the momentum entirely. I’ll burn… fuck it!’

“Momentum… Shift!”

Her voice cracked as the spell activated. Immediately her mana heart throbbed painfully from the force of what she was attempting.

A wave of shimmering distortion wrapped around the falling centipede, and its entire mass… millions of tons lurched sharply left.

Luna felt her knees buckle.

She had redirected the weight of a skyscraper.

But there was a problem.

The direction she shifted it toward?

The left side… where the Supreme Guild was charging at full force.

“Huh?” she blinked stupidly, looking straight at Lucius who had Ayela resting comfortably on his lap.

Her cheeks reddened in pure jealousy.

‘Of course she gets to sit there like some queen. If he praises her one more—’

For a split second, Luna almost let the monster plow straight into Lucius just out of spite, but… sadly she wasn’t suicidal.

She raised her hands again, ready to try and soften the impact or at least redirect it once more.

But she didn’t get the chance.

A gleam of warped space split the air.

SHHKKK—!!!

The monster was cleanly bisected in half, the cut so perfect it looked unreal. A building-sized corpse sliced like tofu… two pieces drifting apart in slow motion.

When he cut a skyscraper-sized monster in half, it looked like a world-ending catastrophe.

The world shook violently as the halves fell apart. The lower half twisted grotesquely midair while the upper half screeched with a frequency that rattled their bones.

Then…

The upper half began regenerating.

And the lower half… grew a new head.

It hissed directly toward Luna.

“…what the actual fuck.” She muttered.

Lucius’s voice echoed instantly, enhanced by space manipulation.

“We each handle one. Unless you commoners can’t even handle a single beast…”

Then came that laugh.

That arrogant, condescending “hmm-hm-hm” noble laugh.

It pissed them off more than the monster did.

As the upper body lunged again, Lucius raised a single hand.

“Split!”

Everyone shot away from the monster’s trajectory with the help of his space.

The centipede surged forward straight into a glowing wall of space.

CLANG—!!!

The entire upper body smashed into Lucius’s Space Barrier and instantly recoiled, flesh rippling from the impact.

Lucius didn’t even blink.

“Four of you… land your strikes! Your goal is to harm the monster so much, it can’t regenerate.”

The first attacker, a male member of the guild, lifted both arms.

A heartbeat later…

KRAKKOOOOOM—!!!

A monstrous bolt of thunder descended from the endless dark sky, obliterating the centipede’s upper plates and burning a hole clean through its body.

Chunks of electrified meat flew everywhere.

The toxic mage didn’t hesitate.

Her green smoke spilled forth, swirling like a living cloud, funneling directly into the lightning-burned cavity.

The monster shrieked, flailing as poison filled its organs.

Then came Becka and the Awakened girl who had tried to sleep with Lucius yesterday. They slammed their hands forward, channels of fire erupting from their palms.

Twin flamethrowers ignited.

The fire wasn’t normal fire… it was enhanced by the power of stored mana and the adrenaline of near-death combat.

WHOOOOSH—!!!

The flames engulfed the centipede’s body, ripping apart every inch of flesh, liquefying bone marrow, and detonating hardened scales.

The stench of burning monster filled the air as its body ballooned… and exploded like a ruptured furnace.

BOOOOM—!!!

Bone fragments shot in every direction, sizzling as they hit the invisible barrier Lucius had erected to protect the team.
