Chapter 204: Jealousy
Luna trembled as the dragon gave them a strangely complicated expression with its majestic massive face.
The creature’s molten-red eyes was full of intelligence and it was clearly looking at them like a predator looking at the prey.
Luna’s heart sank.
‘Dragons… all dragons in the world are documented.’ She swallowed with her hands tightening around her sides. ‘Even the weakest species ranks A. A real A-rank dragon can kill regular A-ranks like stepping on an ant. And in Skyline City… the only reason they managed to capture two legacy dragons was because they sacrificed four S-ranks over ten years ago.’
She shivered harder.
They only had two S-ranks right now… Supreme Man and Vanessa.
Powerful? Absolutely.
Enough to tank a dragon? Absolutely not, not unless both wanted to retire permanently with missing limbs and even then, there wasn’t a guarantee that they would survive.
A gust of wind hit them as the dragon’s wings shifted.
Luna felt tiny, like a dust mote drifting near a volcano.
Lucius lifted his hand and pointed toward the mountain where the real staircase glowed.
Immediately, the space around each Awakener twisted and snapped, propelling them through the air in a clean arc.
They landed on the new mountain’s surface with varying degrees of grace.
“Lucius!!!” Vanessa shouted, one could hear the fear in her voice.
But Lucius didn’t turn, hell he didn’t even glance back.
All he did was make sure the drone hovered safely behind a rock formation, out of the dragon’s direct line of fire.
[@BagonW: BRO WHY IS HE STAYING BEHIND]
[@NoChillMage: LUCIUS RUN YOU CRAZY MAN]
[@DiveDive: Why is he always doing main character activities]
[@HeroOrIdiot: DRAGON FIGHT IS NOT SOLO CONTENT]
[@HotTake101: He wants the title Dragon Slayer soooo badly]
Lucius rolled his neck, letting the last bits of stiffness roll away as space gathered around him like a swirling whirlpool.
The dragon’s domain was the sky… the air and the environment itself.
But unfortunately, Lucius was still an expert at all these.
‘I wonder how “Dragon Slayer” would look on my resume,’ he thought dryly, brushing his hair back as spatial energy thickened around him. ‘And if I add “The One Who One-Shotted a Dragon”? Perfect.’
“Hey,” a voice called out from behind him, it was slightly breathless.
The wind mage… the one Rita had saved earlier flew to his side with her hair whipping violently from the heated air.
“Supreme Man said we should advance quickly while stalling the dragon. It can’t destroy the staircase!”
“I know,” Lucius answered coolly, barely glancing at her. “But I’ll deal with it. Only a handful of Awakeners have ever defeated a dragon. I’m jealous of their titles, yunno?”
The wind mage blinked rapidly.
‘No, I don’t know,’ she thought, face twitching. ‘What does this have to do with titles? I’m jealous about not killing a dragon too but does that mean I should kill myself in a battle I clearly can’t win?! Since I’m jealous of the Saintess, should I fight the goddess out of jealousy too?! What logic is this man using?!’
“That’s suicide,” she said firmly, reaching out to grab his arm.
But her hand grasped nothing.
Lucius shot forward so violently the air cracked. The shockwave flung the wind mage backward through the sky, her scream swallowed by rushing wind.
Lucius zipped across the open space, heading directly for the dragon.
The world watched as Lucius shot to the dragon and then the dragon’s massive tail flicked.
It moved like a blur.
The strike hit Lucius with a sickening, bone-crushing crunch that echoed across the entire mountain range.
His body shot backward like a bullet launched from a railgun, spinning through debris, clouds, and chunks of shredded stone.
[@OhMyGodBro: DID YOU SEE THAT DAMAGE????]
[@Worldcrafter: BRO JUST GOT YEETED]
[@THEFUCK: I’M WORRIED FOR REAL]
[@PainPix: Is he DEAD???]
[@LolAccident: That tail strength was ILLEGAL]
The wind mage tore through the air, aligning herself with his falling form.
She reached out… and caught…
A log.
“A log of WOOD?!” she screamed.
The drone quickly panned back to the dragon only to find Lucius floating inches from its massive face with purple sparks dancing around his body.
The one that had received the damage was a wood clone, not the real Lucius.
The wind mage’s mind almost cracked.
‘Cloning and Substitution?! Since when?!’ she screamed internally. ‘But even with that… regular punches don’t work against dragons. Their skulls are thicker than fortress walls. My guild leader was useless in dragon raids because he didn’t have mana, but even WITH mana… this is impossible!’
The sky in front of her shattered.
Not literally, but visually… the air fractured into glowing cracks, as though space itself was being peeled open like glass.
Lucius’s eyes glowed deep violet.
His right fist drew back.
The void around him hollowed.
Reality distorted violently, all focus collapsing into his fist.
‘Lucius can’t be that strong… right?!’ she thought in horror. ‘He only just got his second mana heart! He should be C-rank… maybe B- if he’s doping on raw mana but what kind of B-rank BREAKS REALITY?!’
Lucius exhaled then punched.
The moment his fist connected with the dragon’s cheek, a surge of purple lightning exploded outward in a violent sphere.
The shockwave obliterated the sound barrier, turning air into crackling sparks and distorting the cloudline into a swirling vortex.
The dragon didn’t just fall.
It was launched.
It crashed into the mountainside below with a force that carved a crater several stories deep, sending chunks of shattered stone rolling down like an avalanche.
Reality knitted itself back together.
The sky regained color and Lucius sighed.
[Spell Registered: Purple Flash]
Lucius stared at his fist, which had turned slightly pink from overloading space. ‘Damn… I feel like a fanfiction MC.’
He couldn’t deny it.
Black Flash from Earth’s fiction had always fascinated him. Now, with space magic, he had essentially recreated his own version… one that nobody on this world could trace back to its inspiration.
Which meant like Infinity, he was free from copyright. He just changed the name a bit.
“Now I’m probably getting the title ‘Dragon Slayer: The One Who One-Shotted a Dragon’,” he muttered. “Not bad.”
He turned toward the drone and grinned smoothly at the camera.
[@WTF: WHAT DID WE JUST WATCH]
[@ThePeak: WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!]
[@Dunked: HE YEETED A DRAGON INTO THE MOUNTAIN]
[@IamtheMCandyoutheCuck: He is LITERALLY the MC of reality]
But the celebration lasted only a breath.
A thunderous BOOM cracked through the sky and a sound like a sonic bomb detonated in the distance.
Lucius barely had time to blink.
The dragon streaked upward, moving far faster than before with its scales glowing white-hot and its chest burning like a furnace about to explode.
And then…
It rammed Lucius with terrifying speed.
Lucius’s body snapped backward, the impact knocking him thousands of meters into the sky.
