Chapter 234: I refuse!!!
“Where is the Witch of Evernight?”

That question hung in the air for a long moment.

The witch could have easily answered that question with sarcasm.

She could have made fun of her, ignored her, or just straight-up laughed in her face.

But she knew that if she were to do that, there was a huge chance Ravina would activate the white mana and plunge her into a world of pain again.

So, she acted nice, forcing a smile onto her face when doing so.

“What? The Witch of Evernight? No witch knows where she is. Only the elite do.”

Ravina stared at her for a while.

Then, she snapped her fingers.

Pa!

The white mana surged out of the blade unexpectedly.

This was immediately followed by a loud scream leaving the witch’s mouth as the pain continued to surge throughout her entire body.

It lasted for quite a while, only stopping after Ravina once again snapped her fingers to cease the mana from causing any more damage.

At this time, the witch could barely straighten up her body.

Her chest was now resting on the ground, with pain etched on her face, while her foot was straight and standing, making her muscles ache even more.

“I don’t know, I swear!” the witch yelled. “No one ever knows where Mother is. We receive information through a network chain and that is it. None of us are worthy enough to see her eye to eye.”

Ravina frowned a bit.

‘The same thing I have been hearing from all the other witches I have caught. This is pointless.’

She stretched her hand forward. The blade pulled out of the witch’s foot and found its way back into Ravina’s hand.

Not even a few moments after that, the witch realized she had been freed. Obviously, she did not want to remain there just to be in pain later on.

So, she stood to her feet quickly. She pointed at Ravina and was ready to launch an attack at her.

Or at least she tried to.

Even before she could open her mouth to summon her magic, Ravina had thrown the blade her way, slicing her in two in the blink of an eye.

Blood splattered on the ground as her insides scattered all around the entire floor.

If anyone else had killed the witch, she would have come back to life in the blink of an eye.

But this was the power of the white mana Faja emitted. It was strong enough to end the lives of witches and gods alike.

With the witch dead, Ravina stood up from her throne, looking straight at the men before her.

“This one is a failure as well. Find the rest and bring them to me.”

Those were her orders.

And they all followed them to the letter.

So, with their heads bowed, they replied in unison.

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

…

That very night, when the moon was out and it was nearing the next day, Ravina had made her way to her room.

She proceeded to pull off her clothes and lie on her bed.

The lights were off, so she could barely see a thing.

However, that only lasted for a little while.

Once she sensed the sudden change in the atmosphere around her, she sprung into action.

Summoning her blade Faja and grabbing the hilt of the sword tightly, she immediately switched on her light and aimed her blade to the front.

As the light came on, she noticed it was Dorian who was standing right before her. He wore a rather stoic expression on his face while her blade was aimed close to his neck.

“Dragon Monarch,” she immediately called out, realizing she was aiming her blade at the wrong person.

Without even so much as a hesitation, she withdrew her blade and got ready to stand to her feet.

“Don’t worry, sit back down. You shouldn’t be stressing yourself at this time.” Dorian let the words out, showing his concern despite it not showing on his face.

Not wanting to go against his wishes, Ravina sat back down on the bed, looking up at him with a curious gaze.

“What are you doing here? I thought you had headed to the Kingdom of Sualan for the project. Are you done already?”

“Why are you hunting the witches?” Dorian spoke, disregarding everything she had said so far.

Ravina paused.

“I’m sorry, I don’t think I—”

“The deal we made was to observe the witches’ movements and see if they make any move after that. Their target has been me and only me. We were supposed to see if it would go past that or not. So why? Why did you go against my orders and go on a killing spree?”

He continued.

“Was there any report of them hunting humans?”

Ravina’s pupils turned dark almost instantly.

“But that is the point, My Lord. Who knows when next they will launch another attack against you? I didn’t want to take any chances against the witches. They are cunning and unpredictable. It is best we take action before they do.”

“Ravina!”

Dorian yelled at the top of his voice.

This caused Ravina to flinch, as that was undoubtedly the first time he had ever yelled at her.

“Don’t you see? Because of what you are doing, there is a chance they already view this as a war. We would be lucky if they haven’t done so already.” Dorian’s face squinted in pain. “A war I was trying hard to avoid. We may have the power to stop them, but who is to guarantee how many lives they will take before then?”

“How do we know the witches aren’t just blindly following orders? Regardless of what history paints them to be, it all boils back to one person: Yahoshi. If we control her, then we control the witches as well. Isn’t that—”

“I refuse!” Ravina yelled back.

“Hm?”

“I refuse to have peace with them. Over my dead body. Not after what the witches have done to humanity and how they killed you in the past. I refuse to let that happen again. I don’t care if you hate me. I will kill the Witch of Evernight, even if it is the last thing I do in this lifetime.”
