Chapter 191: The last laugh.
The frown on the Duke’s face grew even wider.

Honestly, looking at the huge, beautiful, yet menacing smile on Ishtar’s face made him even madder.

Unable to control himself, he pointed at the woman and yelled,

“Kill her! Kill her right now!!!”

As though it was exactly what she wanted, Ishtar straightened her stance, pulling out her hand fan and using it to cover the bottom of her face, exposing only her eyes.

Despite the fact that the soldiers seemed ready to attack, Ishtar did not move a muscle, nor did she act like she cared.

Emily and the rest were, of course, ready to go into battle; there was no way they were letting anything happen to Lord Dorian’s fiancée.

However, a distant sound drew their attention.

It was no ordinary noise. It was the sound of a mighty beast, the ruler of the skies and child of Ragnor.

As they all raised their heads to the sky, they could see Ciel in her dragon form, flapping her wings in the air while gazing down at them like insects.

Right on top of her back, Dorian stood there, Seraphina still holding on to him while Maria stood at the side, her blade already drawn.

Duke Valerie and his men could only stare in shock at the sight of the massive dragon hovering above them.

They had heard rumors of a dragon other than Exlor being in the capital, but to think it was true… And even worse, to think it was Dorian who tamed it.

Just who was this man?

BAAM!

Maria landed from the dragon, right beside Ishtar.

“What took you all so long?” Ishtar uttered calmly. “If you were a few seconds later, I was ready to murder them.”

Maria turned to her with a deadpan look. “Stop lying.”

“Hahaha, you’re right. What type of gamble would that be? I’d rather watch my husband perform his doings as always. Much more fun that way.”

Maria sighed.

Everyone seemed to be looking at Dorian in that moment, their happy gasps and cheers echoing through the atmosphere.

And from the look on Dorian’s face, Maria could tell he was enjoying it.

With a single dark wing growing from his back, Dorian slowly lowered himself to the ground, his arm behind his back, while looking directly at the Duke.

As he landed on the ground, everyone gathered behind him, including Lili and Flare, both in their summon forms.

The view alone left the soldiers under Duke Valerie terrified.

It was one thing if they were outnumbered, but it was an entirely different thing if a dragon and a beast were involved.

They stood no chance, and it was painfully obvious.

“Good morning to you, Duke Valerie. It’s truly an honor for you to visit this city after so many years,” Dorian uttered, a big smile on his face with both his eyes closed.

The Duke understood Dorian was trying to throw a jab at him, so he retaliated. “So you’re the infamous Dorian Aurelian. Hmph~” he faked a grin. “You’re the one appointing nobles on my land without my permission.”

“Am I now?” Dorian slowly opened his eyes. “Well, I do apologize if that was the case. Why don’t we sit down and discuss this like gentlemen?”

“Sit down? Do you think-”

“That was not a request. Sit down.”

The Duke immediately went silent. Looking at the crowd before him and the dragon above, he knew it was best for him to do as he was told.

…

The very next moment, Dorian and Duke Valerie had found a small canopy where they could sit down and talk without the sun beating down on them.

While the Duke had two soldiers to stand guard with him while he was inside, Dorian had Maria and Seraphina flanking his side.

Though he had to promise to spend the night with Ishtar for her to finally give up that spot. Not a deal he wanted to make, but Ishtar being Ishtar, it was quite hard to refuse.

Sighing while seated on the wooden chair, Dorian now raised his gaze to look at the Duke, his arms tucked firmly.

“Now then, if I understand correctly, you want us out of the city so you can claim what is yours. Is that correct?”

“Yes, I am glad you understand. Do that, and I will forgive how badly you have treated I, a Duke of Lumberg.”

“How dare you speak as though you have a choice here? Because of you, a lot of lives—”

Dorian raised his hand, stopping Maria from speaking any further.

He could tell she was getting worked up, and that was not something he wanted right now.

Facing the Duke, Dorian uttered, “Your buddy confessed to the crimes. You have been the one funding the entire thing. He was taking orders from you. Do you agree to this?”

Valerie grinned proudly.

“Let’s assume for a second that this is true. What proof do you have to back it up? Surely you don’t expect the public to take your word for it.”

Dorian sighed. “Yeah, you’re right. My words are not enough, at least not when compared with concrete evidence, right?”

“What are you getting at?” Valerie grimaced.

“Seraphina.”

“Yes, Darling.”

Seraphina reached into her dress and pulled out a single envelope, and then she tossed it towards the Duke with enough force for it to reach his side.

The Duke caught it, glancing at the envelope for a while.

It didn’t take him long to see the crest on the envelope; it came from a noble, one with high ranking as well.

No, it wasn’t just that. It was his family’s crest.

“No way… it can’t be…”

“Yes way!!!” Dorian exploded with laughter as he pointed at the Duke mockingly. “Every single letter you sent to the former governor is in my possession! There is nothing you can do to win this! Hahaha, it’s over for you! You’re so done!!!”

Even before he arrived at the site, Maria and Seraphina could hear Dorian grinning endlessly, and now it had turned into an all-out laughter.

While tears dripped from the Duke’s cheeks instead.
