Shit. Rael’s brows twitched.

He had expected there to be some sort of catch.

Well, that might be a problem, Rael thought as he turned toward the Bogcrawler.

He hadn’t turned off the ignition, so now it was making loud rumbling sounds.

However, instead of panicking, Rael merely took a few steps back and went behind the obelisk.

As much as he wanted to run to the mini truck and turn it off, he would much rather listen to the system’s advice of staying silent.

After all, dying like an idiot was not on his bucket list.

And thankfully, he did as after a few seconds of hiding, the Bogcrawler’s engine cut out-replaced by total silence.

Rael’s curiosity was definitely high, but he wasn’t about to expose himself only to die the next second.

So he waited…

and waited, until roughly 20 minutes later, he heard the distant sounds of something walking away.

But the steps were irregular, each one heavier than the rest, which meant…

Those fucking hallucinations are no joke.

No wonder that green thing didn’t hit me and passed through the ground, Rael deduced with a grumble.

Nonetheless, just as he thought he was going to have to wait even longer, a set of messages appeared.

Rael stared at the messages warily.

It had been only half an hour since the flame was lit and the Beast began hunting-yet it had managed to kill nearly a million people?

if I’m ever in a fight and that thing wakes up, I’m dead, Rael thought as he got out of cover.

The moment he did, he saw his Bogcrawler flattened on the ground, forming a small crater.

If he didn’t know any better, then he’d guess The Beast had stepped on it.

Surely not…?

Nonetheless, he was left with no transportation, and buying something loud seemed a bit risky now.

What if The Beast came back?

I’m being too much of a pussy, I feel like- He assumed that if it was 30 minutes now, it would likely be an hour next time.

That was why, for his own sake, Rael decided on something a bit more…

I have a bit of time to kill, so let’s go here… Rael thought as he pressed on the next location that was pretty close to him.

It was an abandoned lighthouse, and from the looks of things, the only thing he had to do was either go around the water, or glide directly through.

Can I…? Rael pondered as he searched the Hover Bike’s interface, until finally, he found something interesting.

Nothing went right, but it was fine.

Static worked similarly, so as long as he could maintain his altitude, Rael could get over to the other side.

Having decided that, he got comfortable on the Hover Bike and looked through other stuff while it floated him to the abandoned lighthouse.

He opened the friend list, and was prepared to message Zafira, however…

The entire menu was messed up, and he couldn’t even see Zafira’s name.

Linlin wasn’t there either.

Well…

she’s going to give me an earful, Rael thought, resigning to his fate as he decided to get some shuteye.

But to no one’s surprise, he wasn’t able to fall asleep.

Each time Rael closed his eyes, the only thing he could see was the massive red moon.

So if I can’t sleep or message anyone…

you know what, fuck it, Rael sat upright as he opened a certain menu.

He should’ve just done this earlier, but even so, Rael swiftly pressed “Yes.” Immediately, a few familiar pop-ups appeared.

So it upped in difficulty, didn’t it? Rael’s brows furrowed.

Previously, it said this quest was a memory fragment.

That meant he was likely playing out a certain moment in time, not the real thing.

Or so I hope…

Knowing how shit my luck is, I’m likely here for real, Rael thought, before focusing on the more interesting stuff.
