Chapter 644: A Potential Ally
Lilith began approaching the exit.
Rael naturally followed, but just as he was about to leave, Johan’s voice resounded.
“Rael Sutekh, may I have a word with you in private?”
Rael turned around, and after trying to read Johan’s emotions, he gave him a nod.
“Alright.”
Lilith glanced at Rael, and while she did seem a little worried, he assured her that everything was fine.
After all, the emotions he had sensed from Johan weren’t anything fighting related.
Instead, it was more like care.
He was definitely going to ask him about Lilith, and Rael intended to be as honest as possible.
Nonetheless, Johan sent the others out once again, and Lilith exited too, waiting just outside of the throne room.
He was a little bit worried that she would get bullied right away, but that was why Rael wanted to wrap everything up as fast as possible.
So he approached Johan and stood not too far away from him.
The two stared at each other for a moment until Johan finally broke the silence.
“I must ask… Did you and Lilith get together just so you could chase my status, or is there love involved?”
The fatherly questions.
Right.
“Would you believe me if I told you we were married by accident?”
Johan tilted his head.
“You married her by accident?”
Rael sighed.
“I wasn’t too aware of demon customs back then, so I proposed to her. We got married, and from then on, we spent some time together.”
Naturally, they weren’t that close at first, since Rael kept his distance.
Not in proximity of course.
He was just not that open to her emotionally.
Their relationship got much better after the whole Solenne debacle concluded though.
And that was exactly what Rael had begun to tell Johan.
Lilith… she wasn’t on his mind that often.
Instead, it was only Zafira.
But when was it?
Rael couldn’t tell when he started to see Lilith alongside Zafira.
At some point, he grew conscious of her and realized that with every action, she showed actual interest in him.
He wasn’t a scumbag, but he wasn’t someone who could dismiss the feelings of someone he cared about.
And since it was Lilith, the conversation with Zafira wouldn’t be that bad.
So with every passing moment, the two got closer and closer.
Eventually… the two got into bed and nearly slept together.
Of course, Rael wasn’t that suicidal, so he hadn’t told Johan about that.
But even so, the main point he definitely got across as Johan stared at him with a slight smile.
“I see… It appears I have misread your intentions. I apologize for that.”
“It’s alright. I’d be worried too if I had to send my daughter off to a man who’s fighting the strongest faction in the universe,” Rael replied.
“Indeed. And on that topic, do you feel like you can win?” Johan asked out of nowhere. “I know you might think you have the numbers to fight Solenne and the Divine Realm goons, but angels are near immortal.”
“There are billions of angels, and then they have the Ancient Primordials on their side. They also have the beings of the forgotten Divine Realm who are all at least on the level that I am. Not to mention, there’s The One Beyond Time, who could likely travel to the past and kill you without trouble if he so much as wanted to.”
Rael just listened to his words without batting an eye.
“Solenne is also a problem. Her armies are the second biggest in the universe, only second to us demons.”
Was that really the case?
Rael never thought about it, but just how many demons were there?
As if sensing his curiosity, Johan chuckled.
“For every second that passes, 1,000,000 demons are born throughout the universe. Since this cycle has been going on for tens of eons, you can imagine that our numbers far surpass any observable army.”
Rael’s eyes widened at that thought.
That meant over 536 billion demons were born every year.
And if he were to estimate an eon being a billion years…
Nearly 536 quintillion demons were born every eon.
“Oh, and I’m just talking about birth through mana itself. When enough demonic mana gathers, we are born. However, we can also reproduce like humans, and with how big our libido is… we thrive greatly. I dare estimate we outnumber Solenne’s entire army 100:1.”
“…”
Rael was amazed, and he couldn’t even express himself since he didn’t know how.
More importantly…
“What’s with this sales pitch? Didn’t you say you wouldn’t support me?”
Johan shrugged.
“I know what I said, but when I remembered that the bird fuckers… sorry, angels, were a part of the Divine Realm’s army, I felt like I wanted to lend a hand. Immortal as though they might be, they are only immortal as long as Heaven is intact. If we were to destroy Heaven, and by default kill their god, all angels would lose their immortality.”
Hearing that, Rael was reminded of Uriel.
Was he immortal?
Was he even connected to Heaven?
Rael wasn’t sure, but what he was sure of was the fact that the scale of this war had only just begun to dawn on him.
He would be fighting the entire Heaven faction of angels he had only read about in books before.
Then an army of several quintillion, if not sextillion, as well as beings who could destroy galaxies and fracture universes with just a single attack.
Simply put, Rael was both excited and wary.
But since he knew he had already started, it was too late to jump ship.
He just had to get better prepared.
“So I take it you’ll help us against Heaven?” Rael asked.
Johan nodded.
“I’ll help you with Heaven.”
A relieved expression appeared on Rael’s face.
But he still had one question.
“Why did you mention Solenne’s army as well?”
A faint smile appeared on Johan’s face.
“That’s another army I’ll help you with if Lilith takes my place.”
Before Rael could even process those words, Johan raised his hand.
“You may leave now. Go help Lilith reinstate her position in her respective territories. I await good results.”
Rael stared at him for a moment, and after letting out a chuckle, finally left the throne room.
It seemed like he was about to get a really powerful ally on his side.
