Chapter 643: Humiliation
“Father… The bet would degrade your name,” Elizabeth pleaded. “I… I have…”
“We made a bet, and I said if I possessed the Calamity Demon bloodline, and my bloodline purity was higher than hers, she would get down on her knees and grovel in front of the entire demonic race.”
The moment Lilith spoke those words, Johan let out a chuckle.
“Here I thought you two made a bet for each other’s lives. This makes it much simpler then. Elizabeth, grovel on your knees and you’ll be done with the bet.”
Elizabeth looked at him as though she had been wronged, but clearly, Johan didn’t want to hear any of it.
She looked around for help, yet not a single person in the throne room was on her side.
And she didn’t want to imagine what would happen if she were to disobey father’s order, so with an extremely reluctant gaze, she slowly lowered her posture and got down on her knees.
Then, while hiding her face, she bowed at Johan, and while slowly rotating her body, she bowed at the others too.
It was a bit less satisfying when they couldn’t see her face, but even so, the humiliation was there.
Lilith on the other hand could barely contain herself.
“What’s with this weak bravado, sister? Shouldn’t you, as an older demon, set an example on how to perfectly grovel? Your posture is way off, and it looks like you’re bowing, not groveling.”
Elizabeth flinched.
Then, without saying a word, she suddenly got up, and with tears in her eyes, ran out of the throne room.
No one stopped her, not even Johan.
In fact, Johan seemed a little bit salty at what happened.
After all, this was still his child, and his child was just humiliated in front of him and his subordinates.
Embarrassing as it may be, Elizabeth was the one who made that bet, and if she wouldn’t have honored it, it would have been seen as even more disrespectful and embarrassing than it already was.
Nonetheless, Rael was satisfied with the outcome, and so was Lilith.
“Lilith, the territories I’ve mentioned… Do you still recall which you ruled over?”
Lilith nodded.
“I do. Does that mean sister Elizabeth is going to have to give up all her territories? I mean… she took all of mine after I was exiled.”
Johan thought about it for a moment, then nodded.
“Aside from your territories, she had a few of her own. They weren’t as developed and complex as yours, but they were still there. Naturally, she had abandoned those territories when she attained yours, so she’ll have her work cut out for her.”
“As for you, I’ll assign you four dukedoms aside from your own two. Then, one of the tasks I had mentioned… I want you to make every single dukedom you own to be the most flourishing in the entire Demonic Realm.”
That was a really hard ask.
It was so hard that Rael thought that Johan might be overestimating her for a moment.
But then again, Lilith wasn’t incompetent.
She had nursed the entire Darkness Demon race from the ground up, and even if they were slightly manipulated by Johan, they wouldn’t be where they were now if not for Lilith.
And to add onto that, Lilith also had the help of Rael, who just so happened to have the Premium Shop and a shit ton of money.
“I see… I accept, father.” Lilith nodded. “But I do have a question. What about my other siblings?”
He didn’t seem to understand the question, so Lilith added, “I mean, if they were to attack me, am I allowed to kill them?”
The moment she finished her words, the throne room fell silent.
Rael knew exactly why too.
Spilling the blood of royalty was taboo.
It was especially bad when the blood being spilled was done by another royal.
But then again, times have changed a lot since the memories Rael had attained.
So much so that after thinking for just a few seconds, Johan nodded at her.
“Although I don’t approve of it completely, if you do it in self-defense, I won’t have a reason to get mad at you. But do promise that you won’t actively seek them out and start killing them like flies.”
“Despite how incompetent they might seem, they are not the worst rulers the Demonic Realm has to offer. In fact, they are bringing me a lot of profits and happy visitors as of late.”
Hearing that, Lilith shrugged.
“I agree.”
Clearly, she didn’t have that much intent to refuse from the very start.
Why would she?
She just needed insurance that she could defend herself. Nothing more, nothing less.
However, there was also the part where Johan likely didn’t believe that she could defend herself against those powerful beings.
But that was where Rael came in.
His stats were so jumbled up that even the Demon King himself couldn’t recognize the extent of his prowess.
His Law masteries also put him at a very high level, and if Rael had to guess, with his current powers, he would be able to easily handle a Grade 6.
Maybe even a Grade 7 was possible if he were to have the upper hand.
Slowly, he was growing more powerful, and if he had to guess, by the time he reached Grade 6 himself, he would be able to contest against Grade 9’s or maybe even Grade 10’s.
As much as he waited for that day to come, he turned his gaze back onto Johan, who quickly gave Lilith a basic rundown on how her territories had changed during the time she was gone.
Unsurprisingly, they all went to shit.
The only reason they were held together was because Elizabeth occasionally threw some money at the problems, and those problems temporarily fixed themselves.
Lilith paid careful attention to every problem listed, and when Johan was done, she simply nodded at him.
“Understood, father. I will leave right away.”
