Chapter 563: Pulsefiend Gems, Unknown Arrival
Almond whistled sharply, attracting the attention of the wolves.

Seeing one sword in Almond’s hand and another floating beside him, alongside Lily’s Dreadling Duaradox, the wolves instantly felt threatened and moved toward them as Almond and Lily were swiftly surrounded.

That giant would not do much to them, but these two humans were dangerous, so the wolves decided to kill them first.

Two wolves pounced with their claws glowing, while the other two swiped their claws to release projectiles.

Almond used Grimblade Coralvein’s power of releasing coral slash projectiles as its basic attack on the incoming claw projectiles.

He wanted to see what it would do, since Grimblade Coralvein’s slashes had healing power instead of damage.

But when those slashes clashed against the claw projectiles, they exploded and nullified the attacks.

‘The energy it packs is strong enough, I suppose.’

On the other hand, the two wolves that pounced on them were dealt with by Lily, who ordered her Dreadling to release three Blue Beams. They were damaged and slowed as they were afflicted with Frostbite.

Before they could move further, Almond jumped and slashed both of them with Grimblade Deeprend, inflicting heavy damage and causing bleeding.

The other two wolves, who were farther away, howled and pounced on Almond as he stood close to their injured brothers and was about to finish them.

Lily struck them with Blue Beams while they were midair, while Almond swiped his blade three times at the two wolves he had already damaged, inflicting a total of five stacks of Bleed. This allowed him to trigger Deeprend, dealing 500 percent burst damage as they died.

“Awoo!!”

The other two wolves landed nearby Almond and received three more Blue Beams, damaging them further.

Almond turned around and dodged one wolf’s claw swipe by jumping, then inflicted two slashes.

He had to dodge once more by jumping backward after landing as another wolf released a claw projectile.

By then, Lily shot more Blue Beams. One wolf died, and the other, on the verge of death, was frozen due to accumulated Frostbite stacks.

Almond finished it off with a single swipe of his blade.

“Mhooooo!”

The Gentlebuck Reefspawn cried out and approached them.

It opened its mouth and took out two gems with its coral vines before giving them to Almond and Lily.

“For us? Haha.” Almond chuckled as he took one.

“Thanks.” Lily smiled.

“Mhooo!”

Then it went back to foraging.

Almond and Lily looked at the gems and were surprised.

[Pulsefiend Gem]

Rank: 3-star | A-grade

Detail:

—> A gem formed after the amalgamation of untamed Pulse and a dead creature’s energy. It contains volatile energy that must be digested in order to increase stats. The better the digestion, the better the increment of stats.

“So we can increase our stats with this…” Almond blinked.

“It says digested. So do we have to eat it?” Lily frowned.

“Hmm, let me try to extract its energy using my Pulse. Maybe it means we have to eat its energy and digest it instead of the whole gem.” Almond sat down cross-legged.

He tried it, using his Pulse to carry the gem’s energy straight into his body.

“Jrrree…” Almond shuddered as he trembled intensely for two seconds.

Then he loudly burped, his eyes widening. “What the fuck…”

Lily burst into laughter. “That was funny.”

Almond smiled wryly. “Yeah, but it seems it works. My Constitution increased by 1.”

“Great.” Lily grinned and sat down next to him. “Let’s get strong before moving forward.”

“It’s Tier-3 stuff, so it must have quite a lot of energy.”

“Yeah.”

Almond and Lily gradually absorbed its energy and digested it, creating a comical situation where both of them trembled with shock for a couple of seconds before burping loudly.

They could not help but laugh at first, but after a while, they got used to it.

As they grew stronger, they managed to erase the trembling shock side effect, but burping remained necessary as it expelled harmful particles.

In the end, they hit their limit but could not fully empty the gem’s energy.

Both of their stats reached the peak of a Tier-1 lifeform.

[Stats: 0 ]

– Pulse: 1000/1000

– Constitution: 100

– Arihanta: 100

– Will: 100

Their stats did not increase beyond this lifeform tier. They had to do something, but they did not know what, so they ignored it and moved on.

First, they used their cards on the wolves’ body parts.

Almond gathered the leg bones of the wolves and used Grimblade Creation on them.

On the other hand, Lily fed the rest of the wolves’ body parts into her Dreadgate.

Almond acquired a 2-star | B-rank Grimblade called Grimblade Fizzwolf, which could shoot long-range slashes with acidic properties that melted targets.

Meanwhile, Lily’s Dreadgate generated three wolf-like Dreadlings of 2-star | A-rank, each with two skills and a basic attack that inflicted Bleed. Their stats were equal to the peak of Tier-1.

Afterward, Almond and Lily began exploring the island.

They gathered anything with magical Pulse and used their cards on it.

Almond created more Grimblades, while Lily spawned more Dreadgates to generate additional Dreadlings.

Of course, Lily had a limit of ten Dreadlings, but she tried something new, and it worked.

She fed one of her own Dreadlings into the Dreadgate alongside a resource, and she obtained an evolved and stronger version of that Dreadling.

However, their exploration was cut short after four hours when a ship docked at the atoll’s lagoon.

Almond and Lily watched while hiding in the bushes.

‘Looks like a group of dwarves,’ Lily relayed her thoughts to Almond using Pulse.

‘They are strong. None of them are below Tier-2,’ Almond replied.

‘What should we do? Make contact with them?’ Lily glanced at Almond.

‘We do need information about this world and knowledge on how to break through to a Tier-2 lifeform. If they have bad intentions toward us, do not fight back and let ourselves be captured. We can escape later instead of fighting head-on and risking death.’

‘Sounds good, but here’s a suggestion. You have sixteen Grimblades, and you can control five at once for now. So if they capture us, I’ll summon one of my weakest Dreadlings, and you will summon five Grimblades so they can break those blades, which will cause them to evolve.’

‘That’s good, but I’ll assess whether it’s worth it based on their nature. I may have lost Eyes of Truth, but I can still read their eyes. If they intend to capture us, I’ll make a move. If they want to kill us outright, we should surrender and get ourselves captured,’ Almond said.

‘Perfect. Let’s do it.’ Lily nodded.
