- Chapter 626 - 626 I'm back
626: I’m back 626: I’m back Of course, the destruction of the Lux wasn’t something he could just conjure up out of thin air like Phoenix had with the Red Demon race.
Alex didn’t know what level of power it would take for him to do something like that, though from the descriptions of the ranks above S that he’d heard from Mikhail, he suspected that he would at least have to be Celestial rank to achieve the same feat.
It tied in with his earlier suspicion that Phoenix himself was a Celestial rank being.
Sure, being able to wipe out the Lux’s entire civilisation in one fell swoop sounded like something very convenient and time saving, but it was unrealistic.
Celestial rank powerhouses, according to Mikhail’s likely outdated knowledge, were the second highest ranked powerhouses in the entire universe.
Those who were Divine ranked, having combined both their Divine classification with their peak Celestial rank power to reach this elusive rank, were considered the strongest powerhouses in the universe.
Of course, only a select few knew that there were Universal Gods above this rank.
In fact, Alex knew that it was likely only him, and the Universal Gods themselves who were aware of it.
Possibly some of those at the Peak of Divine rank under the Universal God’s command as well.
However, back to the main focus, it can be seen that Celestial rank powerhouses were extremely rare and highly regarded even in the entire universe.
It would take a while before Alex reached that point.
‘But not nearly as long as it would’ve if I were still under the control of the System.’ He smirked, knowing what he knew.
Hearing about how hard it was to break through the barrier of Ascendancy, with even Mikhail acknowledging the difficulty, already proved to him that the possibility of him reaching Celestial or even Ascendant rank wasn’t guaranteed before his lifespan ran out, thanks to the requirements set by the System.
Now that he’d taken care of everything in the remains of the New Dawn system, Alex quietly made his way back over to his ship, as if he hadn’t just gone on a slaughtering spree of every living being that survived the initial supernova.
With two days having passed, the most vital systems should have already been repaired by the automated systems on board.
Including the communications.
His ship soon came into view as he made one last teleportation over, with its dark silhouette against the backdrop of space and scattered rock and debris from the Star System’s destruction giving it a rather gloomy look.
It still looked quite battered from the supernova, which Alex had only just even had the chance to notice.
He’d been so blinded by rage and bloodlust for the Lux that he hadn’t even bothered to inspect the ship himself before going out and murdering every living thing in sight.
The hull was scorched and warped in many places, and deep grooves were carved into it where fragments from the supernova had torn into it at relativistic speeds.
One of its engines was still damaged, and seemed unrepairable by the onboard systems, so for the time being it wouldn’t quite live up to its reputation as one of the fastest ships the Federation could create.
Emergency patchwork done by the ship’s AI could be seen all over the ship, where torn metal had been fused together in places and completely patched over in others where the damage was just too much.
Overall, it was a mess.
But it survived.
Alex drifted toward it with an extended hand, with the ship’s systems recognising him instantly, sliding the door open with a hiss as he stepped inside.
The moment his feet touched the deck, the artificial gravity kicked in, which was a welcome sight compared to simply floating in zero gravity like he had when he’d returned from the Primordial Expanse.
“Primary systems are 75% operational, life support has been set as a secondary focus per your request and still needs work before it is fixed.
The communication systems and engines, set to priority, have been fixed.” The mechanical voice of the ship’s AI chimed as he entered.
Alex exhaled a breath he’d been holding.
The one big worry at the back of his mind that the ship would be damaged too badly to be brought operational again had now been extinguished.
The idea that he would have no method of leaving what was now completely empty space in the middle of nowhere, was not one that he wished to live.
If that did unfortunately happen, he could salvage what he could from the Lux wreckage, which he thankfully hadn’t completely destroyed every ship he came across, and use them to fix his ship wherever possible.
But in the worst case, he’d be doomed to teleporting non-stop for years on end until he reached another Star System in hopes of finding others, without even knowing if it would be inhabited or not… That was a true nightmare scenario.
“Good to see you’re still kicking.” He muttered as he stroked the inner walls of the ship while walking toward the bridge.
“Yes, Captain.” The ship’s AI responded, despite Alex not actually meaning to talk with it.
When he reached the bridge, the main displays all flicked to life at his presence.
The previously erroneous location markers and diagnostics now flowing generously across various interfaces.
If one thing, he could now pinpoint his location, and search for other nearby star systems.
But most importantly – a familiar icon highlighted itself faintly at the edge of the console near the captain’s seat.
[Long range communications restored.] It read.
Alex’s eyes narrowed and his smile returned when he noticed this.
He dropped himself into the captain’s chair and brought the system online, with the screen in front of him filled with all the different channels he could access.
He ignored all of them except for the one bold, red flashing ‘Jewel command’.
Without hesitation, he selected that one.
The Jewel.
The Federation fleet’s biggest, and strongest ship, where the command of the entire expedition lay.
And where all of the most important figures were gathered.
“Open a communication channel with them.” He commanded.
“Have the message simply be, ‘I’m back.'” Alex found himself smirking at this.
He could only imagine the reactions on the other side when they received this.
