Chapter 316: Teleporting to the Soul Kingdom, Surrounded in the Main Square
Sam stared down at the [Soul Kingdom Teleportation Crystal] resting in his hand, then slowly lifted his gaze toward Undyne, Vyxen, and the soldiers standing around them.
They truly seemed willing to allow him into their kingdom, even though he was a stranger, a male, and a being they had feared for generations.
The realization felt strange.
It wasn’t something Sam had expected, especially after everything that had happened between them.
[Perhaps it’s a trap.]
The thought surfaced naturally, lingering in the back of his mind.
“Maybe…” Sam muttered quietly, his eyes flaring as aura leaked from his body.
He activated one of his abilities, choosing not to rely on instinct alone.
[Void Watcher: Your ability to kill the “Colossals” fuels them with hope. They think that perhaps you aren’t that bad.]
Sam stared at the panel for a moment longer.
[Void Watcher] revealed intent without bias, and from what it showed, they genuinely did not wish to betray him.
Their hope was real.
Their hesitation was real.
And their willingness to take a risk on him seemed genuine.
Even if it wasn’t, Sam knew the worst-case scenario wouldn’t truly be the end.
He could revive.
He always could.
“Just focus your aura on it before destroying the crystal,” Undyne instructed calmly, her voice steady despite the situation, “But do you have any way to come back here?”
Sam immediately understood the concern behind her question.
The [Soul Kingdom] was far from this place.
If he couldn’t return in time before the [Timer] ended, he would either miss a chance to challenge another [Colossal Beam] or be forced to face one guarded by a far stronger [Colossal].
He wasn’t required to follow a specific path, but Sam preferred to keep his progression linear.
Challenging a level two hundred [Colossal] while severely underleveled was not something he wanted to gamble on.
“I’ll be fine,” Sam replied with a confident grin, “I can come back.”
He didn’t elaborate.
There was no need to.
The [Soul Realm Map] still functioned as it always had.
As long as he had already visited a location, he could teleport back to it once per day.
In his case, that meant either the [Soul Valley] or the [Soul Cave] where he had first arrived.
That alone gave him enough flexibility to move forward without worry.
Sam focused his aura into the crystal, letting it seep into the blue surface until it vibrated faintly in his hand.
Then he shattered it.
Fwoosh!
The world around him twisted instantly as overwhelming aura enveloped his body.
Sam was the first to teleport.
Undyne, Vyxen, and the others waited behind for a few seconds, watching the space where he had vanished.
“Alright,” Undyne said as she turned toward the soldiers, her expression serious, “Whatever you do, follow my lead. That being is too strong.”
“M-Mother,” Vyxen asked hesitantly, “Do you think you can beat him if it ever comes to that? I feel like he’s too strong…”
Undyne paused, tapping her chin thoughtfully.
“Perhaps,” she answered slowly, “If I enter my ultimate form, and if he doesn’t use that attack from before, then yes, I could win.”
The silence that followed was heavy.
“But,” Undyne continued suddenly, her tone softening as she broke the tension, “I don’t think we’ll need to do that anymore.”
She smiled gently.
“Perhaps… he’s a friend.”
“I hope so too,” Vyxen nodded, “He managed to kill a [Colossal], after all.”
“We will protect you even if that wretched being turns violent, my queen.”
“Yes, with all our hearts and souls.”
“They always turn violent after all…”
At those words, Undyne’s expression darkened.
She knew the truth behind them.
Primordials were dangerous beings.
Even when they appeared calm, even when they helped others, their nature could shift at any moment.
The instant their goals conflicted with someone else’s, they became unstoppable forces of destruction.
Undyne had seen it happen before.
But still.
“He’s the last one,” Undyne said firmly, more to herself than anyone else, “He must be different, somehow.”
“The way he grinned didn’t seem much different, mother, and the clone…” Vyxen muttered, then shook her head, “But I trust you.”
After that, one by one, the soldiers activated their teleportation crystals and vanished.
Soon, only Vyxen remained.
She stood there for a moment longer, staring at the spot where Sam had disappeared.
“What is this feeling,” she thought to herself, “I’ve never seen him before, but…”
She quickly shook her head, dismissing the thought before it could grow any deeper.
Then she activated her crystal and followed the others.
…
Fwoosh!
Sam reappeared in the entrance square of the [Soul Kingdom], standing directly before the massive gates.
The moment he looked around, he felt dozens of gazes lock onto him.
“Did the queen and princess come back?”
“Wait a moment…”
“This is…”
As realization dawned, the figures stiffened.
The being standing before them was not Undyne. Nor was it Vyxen.
And he certainly wasn’t any soldier they recognized. He didn’t have antlers. And more than that.
“He’s a male…”
“What?”
“No way, this can’t be…”
Sam calmly took in his surroundings.
Every being present had antlers like Undyne and Vyxen, marking them as the same race.
Their expressions ranged from disbelief to shock, with fear quickly beginning to surface.
Sam could feel the power coursing through them.
They weren’t weak. Not even close.
Without hesitation, he drew his weapon. He wasn’t taking chances.
The instant his blade appeared, the women around him reacted.
Weapons were drawn. Auras flared.
“This shouldn’t be possible!”
“Where are the queen and princess? How did he come here?”
“It means he used a crystal, doesn’t it? So perhaps…”
“…Shut up!”
Their conclusion was immediate.
They believed Sam had harmed their kind and stolen the teleportation crystals.
It was the only explanation that made sense to them.
Sam didn’t argue.
He simply observed.
Dozens of figures turned into hundreds within seconds as more soldiers flooded the square, surrounding him from all sides.
‘Where the hell are they,’ Sam thought calmly, ‘My teleportation was instantaneous…’
Just as tension reached its peak.
Fwoosh!
Several bursts of light erupted nearby.
Undyne appeared first.
Then Vyxen.
Then the rest of the soldiers.
“Halt,” Undyne commanded instantly.
Every weapon lowered. Every stance relaxed.
“He is… a friend, I think.”
“Yes,” Vyxen added quickly, “He managed to kill a [Colossal]!”
The moment those words left the princess’s mouth, shock rippled through the square.
The soldiers exchanged looks, disbelief written across their faces.
“But wait,” one of them stepped forward, her antlers burning with crimson fire, “What is he? There shouldn’t be any males left. In fact, there shouldn’t be anybody but us in this realm.”
Undyne sighed softly. Then she looked at Sam.
“He’s the last Primordial.”
