Chapter 310: Forsakened’s Sixth Heroine, Another Race
‘Sixth heroine?’ Sam’s eyes widened as surprise washed over him, and for a moment he stood perfectly still while his mind worked to understand what he had just learned.

He had genuinely believed that there would only ever be five heroines, mostly because everything he had encountered so far supported that idea, and he had not run into any new ones in a long time.

Yet clearly he had been wrong. And that meant something important.

It meant that the heroines of [Forsakened] were now the following:

—

[Lily Gremoir]

[Race: Human]

[Class: Magical Archer (S-Rank)]

—

[Alicia Union]

[Race: Human]

[Class: Blooming Blade (SS-Rank)]

—

[Chloe Vinelord]

[Race: Human]

[Class: Plant Master (SS-Rank)]

—

[Seraphine Lunaris]

[Race: Elf]

[Class: Elven Saintess (SS-Rank)]

—

[Belle Draconian]

[Race: Dragon]

[Class: Dragon Princess (SS-Rank)]

—

These were the first five. The ones Sam knew. The ones he had already encountered.

And now, after learning that there was a sixth one he had never seen or even suspected existed, he wondered if the number was still finite or if the world planned to keep surprising him endlessly.

Could there be a seventh? Or an eighth?

Sam did not know what the true limit was, and since he had assumed there were only five this entire time, now that he had been proven wrong, he could no longer rely on that assumption.

He had to stay open to the possibility that there were more out there.

And so he stared at the next panel that revealed the identity of the mysterious sixth heroine.

—

[Vyxen Soulless]

[Race: ???]

[Class: ???]

—

He knew nothing about her besides her name and the simple fact that she wielded a bow. That was it.

Just her weapon and her identity.

But there was one more detail, one that stood out above everything else and overshadowed any information he lacked.

She was level one hundred sixty.

That was even higher than the [Colossal of Light], higher than every monster he had met in this realm, and higher than anything he had felt the presence of until now.

Meaning that she was extremely powerful.

Powerful enough to dominate any battlefield she stepped onto.

[Strong enough to defeat us?]

‘Perhaps?’

[Hah.]

Sam did not actually know whether he had a chance of beating someone like Vyxen, because as strong as he was becoming, there were still opponents far beyond him, and this realm was proving that to him repeatedly.

Even so, he did know one thing very clearly. He could not win this battle.

Winning was simply not an option right now.

Because beside Vyxen stood her mother, a woman whose aura radiated outward with a crushing pressure so intense that it felt capable of making anyone in the [Upper Realm] lose consciousness instantly.

Even the [Monarchs] would likely tremble in fear at the very sight of her.

And then there were the dozen soldiers surrounding them, all carrying an overwhelming presence, each one of them strong enough that Sam could not even see their panels.

If a panel refused to appear, that meant trouble. Huge trouble.

Basically…

“What are you.”

Vyxen’s mother spoke first, her voice sharp and cold as her aura flared violently from her eyes, and her spear never wavered as she held it pointed directly at Sam, prepared to lunge at any moment.

Sam responded by tightening his grip around his sword as he steadied his breathing and shifted into a stance that prepared him for whatever might come next.

If they chose to attack him, he would have no choice but to fight.

And if the fight went poorly, and he was overwhelmed, then escape would be his only hope.

[You won’t win, and you cannot escape from them, though.]

“Hm.”

[Our only option… is peace, I guess?]

‘But you just said to slaughter them?’

[I felt the same thing you did, the urge to kill them all, but better be rational.]

Sam stared at the panel and let out a long sigh. Strangely enough, he agreed.

Even though he could not explain why he had felt that violent urge in the first place, especially since these individuals had not really done anything harmful toward him other than killing him before, but that did not truly matter.

That urge did not matter. What mattered was surviving and avoiding pointless conflict.

Which meant that Sam had one final option before everything exploded into chaos. He could bluff.

“Hello,” he said, lowering his stance completely, and even dropping his sword to the ground so that it lay harmlessly at his feet, “Do you live here?”

All of the women exchanged glances at that, their expressions shifting from caution to confusion as they slowly lowered their own guards and stared at Sam as though he were the strangest thing they had ever seen.

‘Good, they didn’t attack.’

Seeing that, Sam felt a bit more confident. Just slightly.

To push it further, he suddenly lifted his head and flashed them a wide grin.

The moment the smile appeared on his face, every one of them shuddered instantly, and sweat formed along their foreheads as their bodies stiffened.

“M-Mother,” Vyxen said, her voice shaken as she brought her hand up to cover her mouth, “This…”

“Yes,” her mother replied with a grave nod, her expression darkening with realization, “We knew this time would come.”

“…?” Sam tilted his head with genuine curiosity, “What’s your names? I haven’t seen anybody in this realm yet.”

But Sam did not realize something crucial.

He believed he had simply grinned at them. Just a normal grin.

But when a Primordial grinned, their nature was revealed whether they wanted it or not.

To others, it did not look like a friendly smile.

What they saw instead was a shadowed face with a monstrous, stretched smile full of malice and primal danger.

So even though Sam meant well, the effect was the opposite. To them, it looked like a threat.

“My name is Undyne Soulless,” Vyxen’s mother said, her fear shifting into a hardened determination, “And you are…”

“Sam Walker,” he replied casually, still smiling.

The longer Sam kept that smile, the more uncomfortable and tense the atmosphere became.

The air itself felt heavier as the women around Undyne stiffened and prepared themselves on instinct.

“It is surprising,” Undyne said, her tone sharpening while her expression grew heavier, “Truly… surprising.”

“Why?”

“We came here to help my daughter train until those beams erupted,” Undyne began, her voice low but steady, “This actually wasn’t the first time this happened so we ignored them until… one of them disappeared, which was a first.”

Her gaze sharpened like a blade as she stared directly at Sam, and she clenched her teeth.

“I am guessing you are the one who got rid of that beam, right?”

“Hm,” Sam said as he scratched his chin, “Yeah.”

“Very well,” Undyne said as she turned toward her daughter, who trembled uncontrollably, as well as the other women standing behind her, all of whom seemed equally unsettled, “Well then…”

Fwoosh!

In a fraction of a second, her figure blurred completely.

She vanished from her position and reappeared right in front of Sam.

“I know what you are,” she said while lifting her spear, “And I cannot allow that, no matter what, you are… the worst among them all.”

“Mother!” Vyxen cried.

“What—” Sam tried to move, but Undyne was too fast.

And so…

Spear of Doom!

Undyne’s spear pierced Sam’s chest, and instantly a dark aura exploded from the point of impact, racing through his entire body.

Then—

BOOM!

He exploded out of existence completely.

Ding!

[You have died.]

“Damn,” Sam thought as his consciousness lingered, “I guess there won’t be any peace.”

[Well, we can always try again.]

“Sure,” Sam said with a sigh, “They do not seem like bad people, they are mostly… cautious?”

[Whatever.]

Sam woke up in the [Primordial Space], but this time the Primordials remained completely silent.

They simply stared at him.

“I guess some of you met those… things, right?”

No answer came. So Sam sighed again.

Ding!

[“Determination is Fuel” has activated.]

Sam could revive endlessly, so at this point one death or several deaths meant nothing to him.
