Chapter 302: Metyr The Colossal of Light, The Magnetic Cage
Fwish!
The burst of light faded slowly, and the [Colossal of Light] kept shrinking until the gigantic shape towering over the entire platform finally pulled itself inward, folding into a more compact form that could actually stand on the structure without consuming the entire space.
The transformation looked effortless, yet every moment of it radiated such power that the ground trembled beneath Sam’s feet.
But still, even after reaching his supposed “true” form, the colossal remained massive.
He stood around five meters tall, an enormous figure still looking down at Sam with the height of a small building, and sparks of electricity crackled and flashed around him like restless snakes searching for something to devour.
Even his clothes seemed to be woven out of light itself, glowing with shifting radiance, and Sam noticed immediately that there was a magnetic field emanating from his entire body, similar to the one from the platform but even stronger and far more dangerous.
As for his face, he was wearing sunglasses for some absurd reason despite the intense light already shining from him, and his skin had a vivid blue tint that made him stand out even more.
A wide grin curved across his face, as if he found everything unfolding in front of him amusing.
“Isn’t that better?” the colossal grinned at Sam, his tone carefree and mocking, “None, nothing will get in our way.”
“…” Sam didn’t reply.
He kept the same stance as before, holding his posture steady, his eyes flaring with determination and focus.
No matter how unserious this being acted, Sam refused to give it even the slightest edge.
He would not be distracted or provoked.
“Wow,” the colossal tilted his head, looking far too relaxed, “You seem… nervous.”
“…”
Sam ignored the comment completely and focused on what actually mattered.
He shifted his gaze directly to the man’s status panel, wanting to understand exactly what he was facing and how difficult this battle would be.
—
[Metyr, Colossal of Light]
[Level: 150]
[Skills: Lightning Strike, Magnetic Field, Light Destroyer]
[Description: The weakest “Colossal” among them, yet strong enough to wipe out anything.]
[Hell-Mode Analysis: Finish the job.]
—
‘Level one hundred and fifty?!’ Sam’s eyes widened, and his jaw nearly dropped to the floor as his mind tried to process the number, ‘What the fuck?’
Not only was this enemy overwhelmingly strong, but Sam was also trapped inside his domain, completely surrounded by rules and conditions tailored to Metyr alone.
And on top of that, Metyr’s level was so absurdly high that Sam wasn’t sure if even his primordial sword could scratch him.
The gap looked impossible.
[We can win.]
[Determination will carry us to victory.]
The aggressive tone of the panels struck Sam again, far more intense than they usually were, but he pushed aside the distraction because Metyr began speaking once more.
“I’ve been watching you since the moment you appeared,” Metyr laughed with a confidence only someone invincible could possess, “So I know about ALL of your abilities.”
That was true.
Metyr had seen everything Sam used from the instant he stepped into this realm.
The only skills the colossal didn’t know about yet were [Supernova] and [My Last Stand Before Death], but Sam refused to reveal either of them unless it became absolutely necessary.
He reserved [Supernova] for a moment where the entire battle hinged on a single strike, and as for [My Last Stand Before Death], he didn’t even understand how to activate it yet, so he couldn’t rely on it.
‘I can’t,’ Sam shook his head, frustration burning under his skin, ‘I just can’t.’
He had already prepared to give everything he had.
He could always revive as long as his determination remained unbroken, but even then, the scenario unfolding in front of him was far worse than he expected.
And right as his mind raced—
“You’re not paying attention to what I’m saying,” Metyr’s cheerful expression darkened instantly, the grin evaporating from his face, “Not good.”
Snap!
He snapped his fingers once.
Immediately, the magnetic field surrounding the platform Sam stood on began to shrink.
It started slowly at first, but the area visibly contracted, the circle getting smaller and smaller as Sam realized that yet again, he was being forced into a battle against the clock, trapped inside a closing cage.
‘I get it,’ Sam thought, watching the field move closer, ‘It’s another fight where the pressure never stops.’
But Metyr didn’t give him any time to adjust.
“I don’t like wasting time,” Metyr shrugged casually.
SNAP!
He snapped his fingers again, and this time, the magnetic field didn’t shrink gradually.
It collapsed instantly.
It tightened around Sam in a single powerful motion, locking him into a tiny space before he could even reposition his stance.
[Damn.]
“Well,” Metyr scratched his chin, watching Sam with curious eyes, “What now?”
Sam stared at Metyr, who didn’t smile, didn’t laugh, but simply kept observing him with an unreadable expression.
Sam stretched his hand out, touching the shimmering magnetic field.
ZAP!
A sharp shock tore through him, and even though the damage didn’t hit his actual body yet, it instantly removed one durability point from his [Primordial Barrier].
‘This is…’
Sam realized with sinking dread that he was literally trapped.
He couldn’t push through or dodge around it.
He couldn’t find a crack or weakness. He was stuck inside a perfect cage.
“I mean,” Metyr continued speaking with the same calm tone, watching Sam struggle like a trapped animal, “We did say that you would die if you came here.”
SLASH!
Sam slashed the magnetic field with his sword, but the electricity running through the barrier surged back into him, ripping another durability point from his barrier.
“It’s not like we didn’t warn you,” Metyr said, watching every attempt, “We didn’t have any intention to even interact with the [Upper Realm] and [Lower Realm] if you stayed there.”
SLAM!
Sam slammed his entire weight forward, hitting the magnetic field as hard as he could, but nothing changed.
The barrier didn’t even ripple.
“We… aren’t the villains here…”
Fwish!
Sam activated [Primordial Rush] and tried to seep into the ground, attempting to pass beneath the barrier entirely.
But the moment he tried, the magnetic field reacted once more, stopping him completely and preventing him from leaving the enclosed space.
“You… are…”
Metyr’s voice trembled slightly, and for the first time, Sam noticed something strange.
No matter how much he looked at it, Metyr’s expression seemed hesitant.
As he watched Sam struggle, there was an emotion hidden in the colossal’s eyes that Sam couldn’t name.
It wasn’t cruelty, or even satisfaction. It looked closer to regret.
But once Metyr realized the expression on his own face, he jerked his head and forced it away.
His expression hardened, and anger rose sharply in his eyes.
“Begone.”
Metyr opened his hand fully, then snapped his fingers one final time.
SNAP!
And immediately, the magnetic field collapsed inward completely.
Zap! Zap! Zap!
The electricity surged nonstop.
Sam was hit every second, unable to move, unable to breathe, stunned again and again as lightning tore through him.
He stared at Metyr, even though the pain blurred his vision, and all he could see was overwhelming rage burning in the colossal’s eyes.
‘This doesn’t feel right,’ Sam thought as his barrier continued breaking apart.
[Primordial Barrier: 10/100]
Sam felt nervous for the first time in a long while.
He knew that once the barrier shattered, he would die instantly.
[No need to think too much, let’s just kill him =)]
“How?” Sam rolled his eyes even as lightning burned his skin, “This isn’t even fair.”
Until now, every trial he faced felt brutal, overwhelming, or completely insane, but there had always been a method, a path, a solution hidden somewhere.
But this time?
How could he escape when even revival would trap him in the same shrinking cage?
If he revived inside the magnetic field, he would just die again and again.
But then… why was he smiling?
“Haha,” Metyr’s eyes widened as he saw the expression on Sam’s face, “Demon.”
Because for some reason, Sam’s soul flared brighter than ever before.
Because despite the hopelessness, Sam felt more alive in that moment than he had at any point in his journey.
Because this was exactly the kind of impossible battle he had grown to crave.
[This is our element, so until we die, let’s keep going.]
Still, even that determination couldn’t stop what came next.
Zap! SNAP!
Sam’s [Primordial Barrier] shattered completely.
The magnetic field struck his body directly, lightning exploding across his skin, burning it, charring it, destroying it.
He died instantly.
Ding!
[You have died.]
[But this is only the beginning, let’s get rid of these guys.]
…
