Chapter 293: The Soul Realm Map, The Ultimate-Rank Skill
Sam poured his aura into the two [Mystery Boxes] in his hands, eyes flaring as he reminded himself that these were going to be his last rewards.

And…

Ding!

[Primordial has been detected.]

[Giving a reward befitting of Determination…]

Fwish!

The two mystery boxes began to float slowly and steadily at the same time, rising from his palms as if gravity itself had been pushed aside.

They spun in small circles at first, picking up speed with every moment that passed, and then began to expand within the room, growing larger as their power increased.

‘I hope the light doesn’t disrupt,’ Sam thought, narrowing his eyes as the boxes glowed brighter and brighter, almost reaching the point where the entire room would have been swallowed by the light.

But right as the boxes were about to burst in mid-air, right as they were about to explode and release the rewards they were preparing for him… they stopped.

“Huh.”

Just like the [Mystery Box] that had once given him the [Thunder Strike] skill, which he later evolved into [Primordial Lightning], the two boxes before him froze completely in place, floating without rotating, enlarging, or glowing.

And…

[These are gonna be your final rewards.]

[What do you wish for, more than anything, before heading to the “Soul Realm”?]

Sam stared at the two panels with a blank expression that held no excitement, no confusion, and no hesitation.

He understood what this meant.

He understood that these could be some of the last rewards he would ever receive in his entire journey.

After all, once he reached the [Soul Realm], he would finally be able to push forward toward the [Immortal] rank and acquire a new affinity as a result.

But aside from that, counting everything he knew up until the very last rank, the one he didn’t even know the name of…

He would eventually reach a point where he had ten full affinities.

He would be able to gather a few more abilities and skills too, though not a large number.

Still, even with that limitation, he was genuinely excited to see what he would obtain in the future.

Those future gains were bound to be incredibly powerful and extremely valuable.

‘If I don’t die immediately the moment I enter,’ Sam thought with a soft sigh, ‘Oh well.’

He stood still for a moment, gazing at the panels, letting his thoughts settle before making a final choice.

And then, with a grin spreading across his face, he gave the answer.

“Just like last time,” he said with an expression full of confidence, “I want enough power and determination to shred through every single being in the [Soul Realm], including the [Colossals] and the [King].”

And the moment Sam made his choice, the two mystery boxes suddenly burst with a shockwave of energy.

Ding!

[Congratulations to Sam Walker for upgrading your “Realm Map” to “Soul Realm Map” and unlocking its final form.]

Ding!

[Congratulations to Sam Walker for receiving the ultimate skill: “My Last Stand Before Death”]

“Huh.”

Sam immediately checked out the first reward without wasting any time.

The [Realm Map] had always been extremely helpful.

It allowed him to travel faster, avoid suspicion, and always stay one step ahead of anyone who might try to tail him.

Even if he no longer needed it as desperately as before, he could tell it would still be incredibly useful in the [Soul Realm].

A wide grin spread across Sam’s face at that moment as a spark of anticipation ran through him.

‘Perfect.’

He could already sense that this upgraded map would end up being a complete game-changer, especially since it had likely unlocked new abilities that had yet to appear.

But when Sam opened it, expecting to see a change, the map didn’t do anything at all.

It looked exactly the same as before, with no new features appearing on the surface.

[It will transform into its ultimate form when entering the “Soul Realm”]

“Oh.”

That simply meant he would have to wait.

Right now, it remained in its normal form, even if it was technically upgraded.

So Sam set that aside and immediately turned to the second reward he had received, and this one… this one sounded far more powerful.

—

[My Last Stand Before Death]

[Rank: Ultimate]

[Description: You’re going to die anyway, might as well go all out. This skill can only be used once under very specific conditions.]

[Hell-Mode Analysis: If it does activate, we’ll be dead, so who cares.]

—

Sam stared at the skill description for several seconds before tilting his head slightly in confusion.

‘What’s an [Ultimate] skill?’

He had seen the word “ultimate” appear many times before, whether it was referring to the [Ultimate Dummy], the point where a boss reached their [Ultimate Form], or even the [Ultimate Mission].

But he had never once seen that word used for a skill itself.

In fact, the skill panel didn’t even show what tier the skill belonged to, which meant…

‘An [Ultimate] skill must be above everything else,’ Sam thought, eyes narrowing slightly. ‘So I guess… that’s my reward?’

The strange part was that the skill didn’t even sound that strong.

The description didn’t make much sense either.

It didn’t specify when it activated, nor did it explain how.

But if Sam had to guess… then he assumed it would activate at the moment he died for real.

Not the kind of death where he would revive through [Determination is Fuel]. But the kind of death that would be absolute.

And so… it truly would be his “last stand”.

Still, the fact that it only had one use made him nervous, but even so, he decided to tuck the knowledge away until he needed it.

[“Ultimate” skills are the most powerful, but they put so much strain on their user that they can only be used once before disappearing.]

“Huh…”

Maybe that was the reason he had never seen anyone use one before.

Sam honestly didn’t understand the point of having a skill that could only be used once.

He couldn’t help but question how bad that “strain” must be.

And if the strain was that severe, then was it even worth activating?

He sighed quietly, but he placed the thought aside.

Once he finished looking at the rewards, Sam knew he was completely done with everything that needed to be handled.

He had opened the mystery boxes.

He had said his goodbyes to Belle and Seraphine.

He had taken care of every small step and every last detail.

Which meant…

[No need to rest.]

Sam knew that it was finally time to head to the [Soul Realm].

He left his bedroom and walked back into the living room, where Seraphine and Belle were sitting together on the couch, watching TV.

The sight made a small smile naturally appear on his lips, warming something inside him.

“Hey,” he said softly, and the two girls turned toward him. “I just have one last request for you two.”

“…?”

“Anything you want!”

Sam felt a faint heaviness settle in his chest as he looked at them.

He wanted to leave, but he wanted to make sure of one last thing before he did.

“If you hear about any humans named Lily, Alicia, and Chloe, then bring them here and inform them about some of the stuff that happened.”

He assumed that even though the three first heroines might not be here yet, they would eventually arrive in this realm at some point.

And when they did, he didn’t want them to be left defenseless.

Instead, if they could come to Sam’s mansion, everything would become much easier and much safer, as Seraphine and Belle would protect them.

“Who are they, your girlfriends~?” Belle asked with a playful grin.

“They’re close to me,” Sam said with a small shrug. “Can’t let them walk into this dangerous place without help.”

He didn’t have any pictures of them, so he described every detail he could remember, giving Seraphine and Belle enough information to recognize them when the time came.

“Please,” Sam said, looking at the two girls with a serious expression, “try to find them.”

Belle and Seraphine’s gazes grew more determined at the same time, and they both nodded without hesitation.

“We’ll try as hard as we can.”

And once that was done, Sam said his final goodbyes to the two girls.

They cried a little, unable to hide how much the coming separation hurt them, knowing they would not see him again for a long time.

Sam hugged them both for several long moments, his eyes flaring with determination even as a quiet sadness settled in him.

And then… he left his [Mansion], for good this time.

He knew he wouldn’t return until he won. Or he simply wouldn’t return at all.

Either way, by the time he came back, it would already be the end.
