Chapter 292: The Very Last Break, Final Goodbyes
Fwish!

After a few seconds, Sam appeared back in front of his mansion in the [Forsaken Kingdom].

He could still feel the aura and the lingering breath of the [Soul Gate] clinging to his skin, almost like some unseen residue that refused to fade away.

It hovered on him like a constant reminder that he needed to go back, no matter how much he might have wished for even a moment of rest.

But for now…

[Waste of time.]

“Shut up.”

[It is the truth, let us keep going.]

[We shall annihilate them all.]

Sam decided to completely ignore the [Hell-Mode Analysis] panels the moment they appeared, determined to shut them out until everything else was done.

It genuinely felt like the damn thing had grown much more aggressive than before, as if some hidden part of it had awakened or sharpened without warning.

It wanted him to abandon everything.

It wanted him to turn away from every attachment he had.

It wanted him to go straight after the [Colossals] or the [King] and end everything as quickly as possible.

“And if we die?” Sam muttered, his expression darkening with a quiet heaviness that settled across his features. “Can’t say I’m ready for that, but at least I’ll be able to see them one last time.”

He also wanted to search the [Forsaken Kingdom] again.

He wanted to go back to the [Lower Realm] and tear the world apart until he found Lily, Chloe, and Alicia.

But something deep within him told him he wouldn’t be able to do that.

Not because he lacked the strength.

Not because he lacked the opportunity.

But because his soul itself was flaring and pulling him in a direction he could no longer resist, urging him toward the [Soul Realm] as if it were calling him by name.

Maybe that was the reason why the [Hell-Mode Analysis] had become so eager and relentless.

Because his [Soul] was already pushing him toward the final realm even without the panels’ influence.

Regardless of the reason, Sam pushed open the door of his mansion, and the moment he did…

“He’s here!”

Fwish!

He felt a pair of arms wrap around him before he even had the chance to breathe, and when he looked down he found Seraphine pressed against him, hugging him tightly.

[Futile.]

Sam gently patted her head with a small grin, unable to stop himself from softening a little, then glanced toward the wall where Belle peeked out with a stiffness that barely hid her relief.

Belle was far more restrained with her emotions, always trying to maintain her image, but Sam could see through it as easily as he always did.

He could tell she was happy.

[Distractions, nothing more.]

After Seraphine reluctantly let go, Sam looked toward Belle and spread one arm wide with an exaggerated grin.

Belle rolled her eyes, tried to hold her ground for a moment, and then gave up the tough act before stepping forward and hugging him for a few seconds.

[We’re going to die.]

The three of them sat down on the couch afterward, and Sam explained a bit of what had happened.

He focused mainly on the fight with the celestials, leaving aside the parts that didn’t matter as much.

They had watched it happen, of course, but hearing him recount it in person made Seraphine and Belle even more absorbed in every detail.

[Don’t you realize it?]

“That’s pretty much it,” Sam finished with a grin. “Now…”

He was about to continue, but the words collapsed in his throat as a realization clicked into place.

He knew that no awakener would be able to clear the [Seventh Zone] for a long while.

Perhaps weeks or months.

The strongest group in the realm was dead, after all, and even the second strongest would need a long time to force their way through.

This meant nobody would find the [Soul Gate] anytime soon.

In fact, the [Soul Gate] might even close after he entered.

So there was no point worrying about who might follow him.

And so…

“I need you two to promise something,” Sam said, his eyes flaring slightly as he looked at them. “No matter what you do… do not reach the end of this realm.”

“…?”

“Why?”

Their confusion was immediate, their surprise clear, and their desire for explanation hung in the air like a weight.

Sam sighed.

“Death awaits there.”

The seriousness in his voice made both Belle and Seraphine shiver.

“You can try to get stronger,” Sam continued, keeping his voice steady, “and in fact, I want you to. You can even complete the [Sixth] and [Seventh] missions. But once you’re done… just go back.”

Sam explained that completing all the missions would let them return to the [Lower Realm].

They would be able to go home.

They would be able to return to their own worlds without being forced deeper into danger.

The reason he asked them not to reach the end of the realm was simple.

He didn’t want them to see the [Soul Gate].

His instincts screamed at him that something was wrong.

He couldn’t explain it, but he could feel it, and the feeling was so sharp that he couldn’t risk their lives on the chance he was wrong.

“Alright,” Seraphine said with a soft smile as she nodded. “I trust you.”

“I want to get stronger, sure,” Belle said with a small grin, “but I don’t really need to risk my life that much. I can take things slow. I’ll be fine too.”

Sam nodded, relieved.

He was genuinely glad they listened. It made everything easier.

They would be safe, and that was all he wanted for them.

They were already some of the strongest people in the realm.

And even if they weren’t, every awakener already knew the [Primordial] was their friend.

[Move.]

“And one last thing.”

[Please.]

“I’ll be heading out for a while,” Sam said, his expression neutral but his eyes steady. “I don’t know when I’ll be back. But… I promise to try and come back.”

[There’s no need for any of that.]

“The final realm?” Belle asked, tilting her head. “So you’re going there.”

“You said ‘try’,” Seraphine whispered, her expression tightening with fear. “Is there a chance you… won’t?”

Sam didn’t reply immediately.

He just looked at them, sighed softly, and said, “I can’t guarantee anything, but I’ll try my hardest.”

[Our goal is already set.]

“Alright,” Seraphine whispered, nodding with determination. “I’ll be praying for you every moment.”

“Same here,” Belle said with a nod of her own.

[Their kindness and prayers mean nothing.]

Seraphine went to prepare a meal afterward, and Sam joined her so they could cook a feast together.

Belle mostly watched the two of them as they prepared everything, chiming in with comments and laughter, and she ended up eating most of the food once the meal was ready.

[Only our strength will determine the outcome.]

Throughout all of this, dozens upon dozens of panels continued to appear, but Sam ignored them without hesitation.

He read what they said. He knew exactly what they wanted.

But he refused to acknowledge them.

[Do not look away from the truth.]

Once they finished eating, Sam said goodbye to Seraphine and Belle.

He told them he would probably be gone soon, and they both hugged him again with a heaviness that neither of them tried to hide.

“You better come back,” Belle muttered, gripping him tightly. “I need… someone strong with me.”

“I hope you are always safe,” Seraphine said softly, her elf ears twitching upward as she hugged him.

And once that was over, Sam returned to his room and sat down on his bed.

Spatial Inventory!

He opened his inventory and took out the two [Mystery Boxes], holding one in each hand with a steady breath.

‘Alright, time to get my rewards, and then it’s time to head to the [Soul Realm],’ Sam thought. ‘Last thing I’ll get.’

[Our path is already set.]
