Chapter 275: The Celestials’ Panic, Turning Point
The entire battlefield, and even those watching through the panels, fell into utter silence.
The air itself seemed to stop moving.
“What…” Lucien’s pupils shook violently as he looked first at the place where Grok had been disintegrated, and then at Damon’s decapitated corpse lying motionless on the ground. “This is… HOW?”
None of the celestials spoke.
Every one of them turned their gaze toward the dark figure standing at the center of the carnage.
Sam stood there motionless, wrapped in a cloak of darkness that shimmered like living smoke, only his eyes and his wide, unsettling grin visible.
A crushing pressure erupted through the air the moment their eyes met his.
Lucien felt his lungs tighten.
‘He looks exactly like one of those monsters…’ he thought, his breath trembling. ‘No… he’s worse.’
Lucien recovered quickly from the shock.
He couldn’t afford to hesitate again.
With a snarl, he extended both hands, and all ten of his radiant spears ignited at once before launching toward Sam.
Seris slammed her palms against the earth, summoning massive vines that burst upward from the ground, surging toward him like living towers.
Maeva’s reflections moved together in perfect synchronization, their scythes raised high as they charged from every direction.
Olivia’s [Rainbow Swords] glowed brightly, firing arc after arc of [Rainbow Crescent] toward Sam, filling the air with spinning blades of prismatic light.
Even Levi stepped forward, his [Eye Rapier] forming in his hand, its single crimson pupil glaring directly at Sam as he lunged.
All five of them attacked at once.
They knew that Sam was injured and exhausted, barely standing upright after all that had happened.
If they could just overwhelm him now, it would finally end.
But Sam didn’t flinch.
He didn’t move.
Instead, he simply muttered under his breath.
‘Protect me.’
At that command, the [Demon of Hatred] flapped its wings, the gust from its movement cracking the ground beneath it.
In an instant, it appeared before Sam, faster than any of the celestials could follow.
The demon raised both arms, and its two [Swords of Hatred] flew from its grasp, floating in midair like sentient weapons.
‘I guess it can control them like I do,’ Sam thought, his expression calm despite the chaos. ‘But wait… aren’t there supposed to be three?’
He didn’t have to wonder long.
The demon extended one clawed hand toward the ground.
A rumble followed, and a third sword burst up through the dirt, gleaming with crimson energy.
It caught the sword easily, and without a sound, tossed it straight toward Sam.
Sam caught it in one hand, glancing at the weapon briefly before a slow grin spread across his face.
‘Perfect.’
Slash!
The demon swung both of its swords, intercepting Lucien’s ten spears mid-air, the impact shaking the battlefield.
Sam joined in, cutting through Olivia’s [Rainbow Crescents] and slashing apart Maeva’s attacking reflections before they could reach him.
Every reflection that came close was cleaved in two, vanishing into bursts of black smoke.
Levi lunged forward with his rapier, his movements fast and precise.
The two clashed, steel meeting steel in rapid succession.
‘I don’t have my [True Primordial Sword Technique],’ Sam thought, pushing against Levi’s blade. ‘But I guess it’s fine.’
He noticed something strange, the giant eye hovering behind Levi was tracking his movements perfectly.
It was predicting his attacks, allowing Levi to counter each strike before it even happened.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
The sound of clashing weapons filled the air.
But even so, Sam and the [Demon of Hatred] held their ground.
They moved like a single entity, defending and attacking in perfect rhythm.
Sam’s grin didn’t fade for even a moment.
He was waiting for the perfect opportunity.
The pressure from the celestials kept climbing, their desperation seeping through their attacks.
“I’M FUCKING TIRED OF THIS!” Lucien roared, his voice cracking the air. “JUST UNLEASH EVERYTHING!”
“A-Are you sure—?” Olivia started, glancing at him nervously.
“YES!” he snapped.
His sanity was fraying.
The others could see it.
Sam could see it too, and that was when he decided to act.
After blocking another of Levi’s lunges and slashing apart more of Maeva’s illusions, he gave another quiet command.
‘Kill him.’
The demon of hatred instantly turned, its empty face reflecting the storm of hatred within it.
It lifted one of its blades, and hurled it like a spear toward the hovering red eye behind Levi.
BAM!
The sword pierced the giant eye clean through, the sound like glass shattering.
Levi froze.
His rapier trembled in his hand, his body twitching violently as the connection between him and the eye broke.
He could no longer track Sam’s movements.
That one second of blindness was all it took.
SLASH!
Sam’s sword sliced clean through him.
Levi’s body split in half, his eyes wide in shock as he collapsed to the ground, his rapier fading into dust.
[11 gone, 4 left.]
Sam exhaled slowly, feeling the energy pulse through him.
And then, finally, he did something he should have done a long time ago.
VOID WATCHER!
The ability activated instantly, and his pupils turned silver, glowing faintly like twin moons.
He hadn’t used it before because he’d been too focused on survival, but now he remembered one of its powers.
—
[No illusion, stealth abilities, or anomalies can go past your eyes. You can see them all.]
—
A silver pulse rippled outward from Sam, spreading across the battlefield.
It washed over everything, the mist, the vines, the reflections.
And one by one, Maeva’s illusions flickered under the effect of [Void Watcher], until finally… Sam saw it.
One of the Maevas standing further back glowed faintly. The real one.
“NOW!” Lucien shouted. “DON’T VALUE YOUR LIFE ANYMORE, IT DOESN’T MATTER!”
His voice was wild, desperate. He had lost control.
REQUIEM OF GODS!
The clouds above began to churn violently, lightning twisting and crackling across the sky.
Then—
Zap! Zap! Zap!
Bolts of divine lightning rained down, striking the ground again and again, charring everything they touched.
Lucien hurled his [Spears of Requiem] even faster, the glowing lances streaking across the air at blinding speed.
Seris’ vines grew to monstrous proportions, each one the width of a tower, reaching toward Sam and the demon to crush them alive.
Olivia, however, stayed calm, standing behind the others, her gaze sharp and calculating.
Maeva kept multiplying her reflections, filling the field with hundreds of copies.
The battlefield became pure chaos.
But amidst it all, Sam’s mind remained clear.
[Their panic is proof that they’re losing control of the situation =)]
[Let’s end this.]
Sam nodded faintly at the message flickering in his vision.
He raised his eyes toward the storm and gave a single order.
‘Kill the vine girl.’
The demon tilted its head slightly toward Seris, its glowing eyes flaring.
Seris froze where she stood.
Something primal inside her screamed to run.
SLASH!
The demon moved.
It rushed across the field, weaving through bolts of lightning and dodging Lucien’s spears with inhuman precision.
Seris summoned wall after wall of vines to stop it, but the demon sliced through each one effortlessly.
“NO, STAY BACK!” she screamed, summoning even more.
The vines slammed down like towers collapsing, but the demon cut through them without even slowing down.
“H-HELP!” she shouted, desperation breaking her voice.
But no one came.
Lucien was completely lost in his frenzy, focused only on destroying everything in sight.
Olivia stayed at a distance, watching Sam carefully.
Maeva was still distracted, trying to maintain her illusions.
Seris was alone.
“Vine Barrier!” she cried out, creating multiple layers of thick green walls.
It didn’t matter.
The demon swung both swords at once.
Each strike shattered a barrier. Each step brought it closer.
And before she could form another defense—
Slash!
Her scream cut short.
The demon’s blade passed clean through her neck, decapitating her in one fluid motion.
Her body collapsed, and the massive vines surrounding the battlefield withered instantly, vanishing back into the earth.
The demon turned, its expression blank, its wings flicking blood into the air as it faced the remaining celestials.
[12 gone, 3 left.]
Sam watched calmly from behind, gripping his sword tightly as the lightning continued to flash overhead.
