Chapter 271: The Strongest Celestial’s Attacks, The End is Near
‘I got three stars now,’ Sam thought as he watched them hover slowly around him, burning faintly with dark red light.

‘But… should I use them?’

Each star had a different use depending on how many he chose to call upon.

He already knew what each of them did, he had used them before, and every one of them came with its own cost.

—

[One Star: Hatred Boost]

[Two Stars: Hatred Beam]

[Three Stars: Hatred Swords]

—

At this point, the [Hatred Swords] were the best option.

Both the [Hatred Boost] and [Hatred Beam] wouldn’t be enough to deal with six Celestials at once.

The swords, however, were something else entirely.

They were almost as sharp as his primordial sword, and he could summon three of them at once.

He could control them with his mind and even fly on them just like he had done when facing the [Pale Monarch].

It was his most versatile option.

But still… something inside him whispered otherwise.

[Not enough.]

Even before he activated the skill, he could feel it deep in his gut.

It wouldn’t be enough to win.

Maybe if the primordial clone was still alive, maybe if he wasn’t alone… but now that it was gone, he was on his own.

And things were about to get much worse.

“Alright!” Lucien shouted, his voice echoing across the battlefield. “Now we all go! Give it your all!”

The Celestials didn’t hesitate.

They had planned for this fight long before it started.

They had assigned roles to each other, studied countermeasures, and created strategies in case one of them fell.

Now, with their newly awakened forms, they were stronger than ever.

Each of them was ready to unleash everything they had.

Lucien raised both hands.

Spears of Requiem!

Ten spears of pure lightning appeared around him, each one more violent and charged than his usual [Thunder Spears].

Seris clasped her hands together, eyes glowing with golden light.

Vines of Divinity!

Dozens of radiant vines erupted from the ground around her, wrapping her in a protective cage while intertwining with her limbs.

Grok, his muscles trembling with rage, slammed his fists together.

Strongest Force!

Steam exploded from his body as his power surged.

His entire frame expanded, his skin glowing with heat, his fury barely contained.

Maeva tilted her halo slightly, and her reflection split apart like glass.

Clones of Reflection!

Dozens of copies of her appeared around, each carrying a scythe and mimicking her every move.

Levi’s pupil swirled and expanded, his single great eye widening until it was nearly as large as a man.

All-Watching Eye!

The enormous eye fixed on Sam, tracking every subtle motion he made.

He couldn’t hide anymore.

Olivia spread her wings, light shimmering across her feathers as every hue imaginable coated her form.

Rainbow Ascension!

Her rainbow aura flared like fire, and new blades formed in her hands, radiant and deadly.

And lastly, Damon’s massive tome split apart into three.

Books of Spells!

Each one floated around him, runes glowing as they opened to different pages, ready to bombard Sam from all directions.

Within seconds, Sam was surrounded by all six Celestials, each in their strongest form, each ready to kill him.

[The odds just went from nonexistent to…]

‘Yeah yeah, whatever,’ Sam thought as he clenched his fists, ‘Guess that’s why the [Hatred Swords] won’t work.’

Even if he summoned them now, they would barely buy him time.

Still, giving up wasn’t an option.

He looked at each of them, seeing faint golden [Verdict Bars] above their heads.

To fill those bars, he needed blood — their blood.

Without his primordial sword, that was almost impossible.

He was cornered, outnumbered, and had lost his clone.

‘I need the fourth [Star of Hatred],’ Sam thought, his heart racing. ‘Or I’m dead.’

To summon a fourth star, he had to feel even greater hatred than before.

It wasn’t just about anger or rage, it had to come from deep within, the kind that burned everything else away.

But reaching that level wasn’t easy.

He could aim for five stars too, but he knew the hatred required for that would be something beyond comprehension.

And right now, that wasn’t something he could reach.

Four would have to be enough.

If he could manage that, he’d use it as his final stand.

Fwish!

BOOM!

One of Lucien’s [Spears of Requiem] ripped through the air toward Sam.

He barely dodged it, the spear brushing past his shoulder as it exploded behind him, blasting the ground apart.

Then he saw Grok move.

“Revenge!” Grok bellowed, his massive fist pulling back.

He swung downward with all his strength.

BOOOOM!

The impact shattered the ground beneath them, a crater spreading outward as Sam was thrown into the air by the shockwave.

His mind spun, his vision blurring.

[Focus.]

The system’s voice rang in his head.

He forced himself to focus, shaking off the dizziness as he realized he was suspended midair.

‘Can’t dodge…’

It hit him instantly, this was the Celestials’ plan.

They wanted him airborne.

Olivia’s figure appeared in front of him in a flash, her rainbow blades igniting with light.

“Goodbye,” she whispered, swinging her sword in a perfect arc.

At the same time, golden vines shot upward toward him, Seris’s doing.

Sam’s eyes flicked between them, and a thought sparked in his mind.

He kicked forward in midair, his foot connecting with Olivia’s arm, deflecting her strike just enough to make her miss.

“Useless,” Olivia muttered coldly and swung again.

But before the blade connected, Sam reached out and grabbed one of the vines approaching him.

Pain shot through his arm instantly, the vine burned with divine energy, searing his skin like molten metal.

Fwish! SLAM!

He yanked the vine downward, using its force to swing Olivia by her own momentum, slamming her body into the air beside him.

She cried out in shock as her second strike missed completely.

“Seris!” Olivia shouted, glaring down. “Stop interfering!”

“S-Sorry!” Seris panicked and quickly withdrew her vines.

But the damage was already done.

Using the same vine as leverage, Sam kicked downward, launching himself toward the ground.

Boom!

He landed hard, his knees bending to absorb the shock.

Dust and lightning crackled around him as he straightened, staring at the circle of Celestials closing in again.

Lucien smirked, his electric aura sparking violently.

“You know this is pointless, right?” he said, voice calm but filled with arrogance. “You can keep dodging all day, but it won’t matter.”

Sam said nothing.

His face stayed expressionless, eyes sharp and unreadable.

“Well then,” Lucien muttered, glancing at Levi, Damon, and Maeva. “Round two.”

The three nodded, stepping forward together.

Levi’s giant eye shifted again, the iris widening to follow Sam’s faintest twitch.

Damon’s three books opened fully, symbols flashing across their pages.

Maeva’s reflections fanned out, surrounding him like a wall of glass.

[The end is near.]

The system’s words flashed again, plain and emotionless.

Sam tilted his head slightly, staring at it.

The end? That couldn’t be right.

This battle wasn’t close to ending… unless it ended with his death.

‘So that’s what you mean,’ he thought grimly.

[Probably.]

He scoffed under his breath.

“Damn…”

But quitting wasn’t in him. Even if every system message screamed that it was over, he refused to let it be.

He steadied his breath, his mind cold and sharp again, as the three Celestials began their assault.

Sam flexed his hand, feeling the faint hum of the three [Stars of Hatred] floating behind him.

If he couldn’t summon the fourth one… Then he’d make do with what he had.
