Chapter 250: The Darkness Monarch’s Trickery, Judge Sacrifice
The tendrils that made up the [Darkness Monarch]’s enormous body began to glow faintly as they dragged the spirits and monsters underground, one after another.

The ground trembled under the weight of his feeding.

Dark energy pulsed beneath the surface like a heartbeat.

‘He said he’s even stronger now,’ Sam thought, narrowing his eyes, ‘That means… he’s feeding on them through those tendrils.’

It was ironic. Sam did the exact same thing.

His own primordial sword released tendrils to absorb the cores of the fallen, while the Monarch used his to pull victims into the abyss to devour their essence.

Two predators, both feeding on everything around them.

The only difference was that one did it with discipline—while the other did it out of pure hunger.

And now, the battlefield was silent.

The endless roars, the chaos of monsters clashing and dying, it had all stopped.

“I have absorbed every single monster in the [Sixth Zone],” the Monarch said, his deep, rumbling voice echoing through the emptiness.

His body flared with power, his form growing darker, heavier.

The hundreds of eyes scattered across his colossal frame glowed brighter, all locking onto Sam at once.

“Yes…” he murmured, “now I feel complete.”

Then, a grin stretched across the Monarch’s monstrous face.

“Alright then,” he said, his tone shifting to one of cold amusement.

“Let’s play this game.”

He pointed a massive tendril-covered finger directly at Sam.

Dark energy swirled around the tip, forming a dense, pulsating orb of power.

“Survive this beam!” he roared.

The orb expanded rapidly, humming with lethal intent.

Sam readied himself to dodge—

Fwish!

A flash hit his vision.

His crimson eyes widened as a new scene unfolded in his mind.

‘What the fuck—’

He snapped back to reality immediately, his instincts already screaming.

Primordial Wings!

The wings propelled him upward in an instant.

He grabbed the [Judge Monarch] with one arm, hauling him into the air alongside him.

Below, the primordial clone followed his motion perfectly, its own wings flaring out and pushing it skyward.

And a split second later—

Fwish!

A gigantic mouth burst open from the ground.

It was the size of a building, filled with rows of tendril-like teeth that twisted and writhed like serpents.

It swallowed the air where Sam had just been standing.

That was what he had seen in his vision.

The “beam” had only been bait—a trap to lure him close enough for the true attack.

In the vision, he had seen himself being swallowed whole, wings crushed and body consumed.

But this time, he had escaped.

‘That bastard likes to play games,’ Sam thought, his expression darkening.

‘I need to end this quickly.’

The monstrous mouth closed, vanishing into the earth once more.

The Monarch’s laughter rumbled faintly from below.

But before Sam could move again—another flash filled his eyes.

Another vision.

He saw the Monarch charging the dark beam once more—this time, it was real.

The energy built to a scale that dwarfed everything else in the zone.

He knew his [Primordial Barrier] could block it, but it would cost him several hits.

That was something he didn’t want.

He needed that barrier’s protection for when he got close—when the real fight began.

But the beam in his vision wasn’t small.

It spanned hundreds of meters, cutting through everything in its path.

Dodging it while holding the [Judge Monarch] would be impossible.

Sam looked at the spirit in his grip.

“Hey!” he called out over the roaring energy.

“Can you dodge what’s coming?!”

The [Judge Monarch] was silent for a moment, then slowly nodded.

“Alright.”

Without hesitation, Sam released him.

The spirit dropped toward the ground, spreading what remained of his tattered wings to brace for impact.

Sam didn’t hesitate or feel guilt.

He couldn’t afford to.

The [Judge Monarch] was a useful ally, nothing more.

If it survived, good. If not, so be it.

He had already lost countless spirits here. It didn’t change anything.

And just as the last thought passed—

BOOM!

The [Dark Beam] fired. It was a column of annihilation, stretching as far as the eye could see.

The force of it tore through the ground of the entire realm.

Massive shockwaves followed, flattening everything nearby.

From afar, even those in the fifth, fourth, third, and second zones felt the tremors.

“Holy shit, what was that?!” someone shouted in the distance.

“Be careful!”

“WHAT?!”

The quake sent fear rippling through the zones, but no one truly understood what was happening beyond their walls.

Back in the [Sixth Zone], Sam beat his wings furiously, the primordial energy around him surging to maximum.

He grabbed his clone midair and twisted his body violently, forcing himself out of the beam’s trajectory.

The blast missed him by inches.

But the recoil sent him crashing into one of the Monarch’s enormous tendrils.

The impact shook his entire body.

Before he could regain his footing, the tendril lunged, trying to wrap around him.

Slash!

Sam’s sword cut clean through it, splitting the dark flesh apart.

Black fluid splattered across the ground as the tendril shriveled away.

[Predictions Left: 2.]

‘I guess it’s not every movement,’ Sam thought quickly.

‘I only get visions when he uses a skill.’

That meant the Monarch’s smaller actions—his feints, his distractions—didn’t trigger the ability.

Still, every vision so far would have killed him outright.

Each one was a fatal trap disguised as an opportunity.

The [Darkness Monarch] wasn’t just powerful.

He was cunning. He preferred trickery over brute strength.

But now that Sam knew that, he was ready.

No matter what the Monarch tried next, Sam wouldn’t back down.

He turned his gaze and spotted the [Judge Monarch] on the ground below.

It had survived—but barely.

Three of its four arms had been destroyed, their remains dissolving into dust.

‘Huh,’ Sam was confused.

Sam didn’t know, but It used a skill: [Judge Sacrifice].

He’d never seen that one before.

The judge monarch could determine what it needed to give up in order to withstand an attack, and then sacrifice those parts to survive.

Losing three arms just to endure the beam spoke volumes about its strength.

The only limb it had left was the one holding the golden scale, the strongest part of its body.

Sam’s eyes hardened.

‘Alright,’ he thought, tightening his grip on his sword, ‘We finish this once and for all.’

He looked up.

The [Darkness Monarch] towered above him, his massive form blotting out what little light remained.

Sam looked like an insect in comparison, a single human facing a living nightmare.

“So many tricks~” the Monarch’s voice oozed with mockery, “And so many more to come~ One of them will get you~”

Sam didn’t reply.

The Monarch took a slow, heavy step forward, the ground cracking beneath him.

“I am indeed following orders,” he said, lowering his head until his enormous eyes were half-level with Sam’s.

“But… I do enjoy seeing how much I can toy with your kind before you finally break.”

He smiled, revealing rows of shadowed teeth made of writhing tendrils.

“And honestly,” he continued, his voice dark and calm, “your race has always been my favorite. No matter how many times you died, you always came back.”

The Monarch laughed, the sound shaking the zone itself.

“Well, until your [Determination] falters, that is. But I do hope yours lasts long enough.”

Sam’s expression didn’t change.

As long as he didn’t receive another vision, he could move freely, and that meant he still had room to act.

He stayed still, waiting, silent.

Then he glanced at the primordial clone beside him.

It smiled, simple and eerie.

“=)”

Sam nodded once.

Then he looked toward the [Judge Monarch], who had already risen again despite its shattered state.

Even with only one arm, it was ready to fight.

The golden scale in its remaining hand began to glow faintly, its energy steady and resolute.

It was three against one now.

But the one they faced was enormous, powerful, and ancient.

Still, Sam refused to back down.

He gritted his teeth, his crimson eyes burning like embers.

No matter how many tricks the Monarch had left, no matter how impossible this battle seemed—

[Proceed.]
