Chapter 245: Level 5 of the Forsaken Rank, Judgment Affinity’s Milestone Reward
The first few monsters roared as they noticed him — towering beasts of bone and darkness, their eyes burning with violet flames.

Sam met them head-on.

His sword flashed, cutting through the first creature’s skull.

A second lunged from the side, and he ducked under its claws, slicing upward and splitting its torso cleanly.

Each movement was smooth, practiced, born of countless fights before this one.

Every strike carried weight. Every motion was deliberate.

Hours passed.

Hundreds of corpses began to litter the ground, each fading into black mist as he absorbed their essence.

Notifications echoed one after another, each pushing him closer to his next level.

He didn’t stop to read them. He didn’t need to.

His focus remained absolute, eyes locked forward, expression calm and unshaken.

He was alone again, surrounded by chaos, but there was no fear left in him.

There hadn’t been for a long time.

Every enemy that fell beneath his blade was another step forward.

Every ounce of energy absorbed was another spark added to his determination.

The monsters kept coming. Sam welcomed them.

The more he killed, the stronger he became, and the closer he got to his goal.

The faint memory of Seraphine’s smile and Belle’s laughter flickered through his mind as he fought.

He hoped they were fine.

He hoped that, somewhere in the [Land of Judgment], they were both still alive.

But as for him, there was no time to worry.

He swung his sword again.

Black blood splattered across the rocks as another creature fell.

The barrier’s light pulsed stronger now, reflecting faintly in his crimson eyes.

And eventually…

Ding!

[Congratulations to Sam Walker for leveling up to Level 5 of the Forsaken Rank!]

‘Phew.’

Sam exhaled lightly, rolling his shoulders as energy surged through him.

Another chime followed.

Ding!

[Your Shadow, Chaos, Void, Hatred, Time, Oblivion, and Judgment affinities clash with each other.]

[You have a choice once more:]

The familiar text expanded across his vision, forming seven distinct panels in front of him.

—

[1. Receive a normal skill right now, and then another after your advancement task, like usual (Shadow Affinity)]

[2. Receive a powerful ability at level 10 right after your advancement task (Chaos Affinity)]

[3. Receive no skill, but instead gain 10 permanent attribute points to Strength, Agility, and Constitution, and 20 points to Soul (Void Affinity)]

[4. You gain no skill now, but must fill the “Hatred Bar” before reaching Level 10 to unlock a powerful skill unlike any other (Hatred Affinity)]

[5. You gain no skill now, but will be given a choice between three abilities (not skills) after your Advancement Task (Time Affinity)]

[6. You take a massive gamble and immediately receive an “ability” right now. It could be god-like, or something that cripples you. It is all up to luck (Oblivion Affinity)]

—

Sam read through them silently.

He’d seen the first six before, all tied to his initial affinities.

But it was the last one that drew his attention.

[7. Face the “Scales of Judgment” and receive a skill or ability based on your results (Judgment Affinity)]

“Huh.”

Another new mechanic. He wasn’t even surprised anymore.

Every affinity seemed to have its own strange method of awarding milestone rewards, so this wasn’t unexpected.

Still, “Scales of Judgment”?

That sounded… interesting.

‘I guess I’ll test it out,’ Sam thought.

Without hesitation, he reached toward the golden panel.

The others vanished instantly, dissolving into faint motes of light until only the single glowing symbol of the [Judgment Affinity] remained.

Lines of text appeared across the shimmering surface:

[They keep trying to judge us, painting us as evil and hunting us endlessly.]

[And perhaps we are guilty — yet it still won’t matter.]

Before he could react, a wave of golden aura surged outward from the panel, enveloping him entirely.

It flowed into his skin and bones, sinking deep until every vein glowed faintly with that same golden hue.

Fwish!

Ding!

The ground rumbled beneath his feet.

When Sam looked up, a massive shadow loomed over him — a colossal black scale suspended high in the sky, its plates glimmering faintly with streaks of gold.

“Huh.”

[Face the “Scales of Judgment.”]

The panel’s text flickered before fading.

A heavy wind swept through the battlefield as the gigantic scale descended.

Fwish! BOOM!

It slammed into the ground a few meters ahead, the impact throwing dust and debris into the air.

The structure was enormous, large enough to hold dozens of people on each side.

A faint hum vibrated through the air, and then more text appeared before him.

[Jump on one of the two scales to start.]

Sam blinked, slightly taken aback.

“What the hell is happening?” he muttered.

[Trust the process.]

‘Of course.’ Sam rolled his eyes.

This was the first time any milestone reward had manifested like this.

Even he [Hatred Bar] from his [Hatred] affinity made somewhat made sense, it had a clear condition and purpose.

But this? This was bizarre.

Still, standing around wouldn’t help.

As he glanced toward the horizon, the wall of crimson flame marking the [Fifth Barrier] burned brighter than before.

He could feel the pressure emanating from it, as if something powerful was watching him from beyond.

[You have the feeling that dozens of eyes are observing you.]

“Huh.”

Sam’s grip tightened around his sword.

The scales radiated a strange energy, equal parts divine and oppressive.

He took a breath and stepped forward.

Then, with a short jump, he landed atop the black scale.

It shifted slightly beneath his feet, then settled.

The entire structure glowed faintly.

Ding!

[You are being judged…]

[Name: Sam Walker]

[Titles analyzing…]

‘Seriously… what the hell is happening now.’

The scales began to move, the left and right sides rising and lowering in an uneven rhythm as if measuring something unseen.

Sam adjusted his stance to maintain his balance while the process continued.

He could only watch as light gathered around him, lines of energy crawling up the sides of the structure like molten veins.

Then—

Ding!

[Titles detected.]

[Your “reward” will be determined based on them, as they define who you are.]

[The “Scales of Judgment” evaluate the primordial not by his strength, but by his essence.]

[The three titles most aligned with your being will appear before you. Choose one of them to receive a reward tied to it.]

‘That makes more sense,’ Sam thought.

Depending on what titles he carried, the system would decide how to shape his reward.

The result could be good or bad, just like every other affinity test he’d faced so far.

He waited, and soon, the panels appeared before him, three golden rectangles suspended in the air.

Ding!

[Titles:]

[1. True Primordial]

[2. Eternally Forsaken]

[3. Determined One]

[Choose.]

“Damn…”

Sam stared at the list for a few seconds. Each of those titles represented a side of him.

The [Judgment Affinity] had chosen well.

“I get it now,” he murmured under his breath. “So that’s how this affinity works.”

He would have to select one of the three titles, and whatever he chose would determine his reward, skill, ability, or maybe something entirely different.

The choice mattered. A lot.

He raised his hand slowly, eyes flicking between the three glowing panels.

“I guess I’ll choose, then,” he said softly, extending his hand toward the light.
