Chapter 243: Newly Furnished Mansion, Small Talk about the Land of Judgment
The inside of Sam’s mansion had changed completely.

Where it had once been empty, silent, and almost lifeless, it was now full of warmth and color.

Furniture filled every corner, couches, tables, drawers, even decorations that made the rooms feel lived in rather than like hollow halls.

“I spent almost all of my money, but I think I did a good job,” Seraphine said proudly, grinning from ear to ear. “And Belle gave some too!”

“Hm.”

Sam walked forward, taking in the sight before him.

The [Living Room] looked entirely different.

There was a soft, dark couch placed in front of a sleek table, with a massive television hanging against the wall.

A chandelier hung from the ceiling, filling the space with a warm golden glow, while drawers lined one side of the room for storage.

Everything looked refined, luxurious, even.

It was the kind of home one might expect from someone with power and taste, not a half-ruined mansion bought in haste.

“I couldn’t do everything,” Seraphine admitted, scratching the back of her head with a sheepish smile. “But me and Belle decided to focus on the main rooms first.”

“That makes sense.”

Sam made his way into the kitchen.

There, he saw a massive fridge, large enough to store food for months, along with every modern piece of cooking equipment imaginable.

Shiny countertops reflected the light above, and there was even a small dining corner with stools beside the counter.

“My cooking is average at best,” Sam said, shrugging. “But I guess it’s nice to have all this.”

“Don’t worry,” Seraphine said softly, a proud smile spreading on her face. “I have some experience in that sector~”

“As for me, I’ll happily eat whatever you guys make,” Belle added, her grin wide, revealing the faint gleam of her sharp teeth.

Sam sighed but couldn’t help the small smile tugging at his lips.

He never really pictured herself doing chores or cooking anyway, not she was a dragon.

“Plus,” Belle said, leaning lazily against the wall, “we could just buy one of those [Mechanical Maids], right? They’d make things easier!”

“True,” Seraphine nodded. “But I don’t think they can follow us into the [Lower Realm], can they?”

“Why would we be together in the [Lower Realm]?” Sam asked flatly, his tone calm but unreadable.

“Hah?! Uh—” Seraphine froze mid-sentence, flustered. “Nevermind!”

Sam hadn’t meant it harshly.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want them around, it was simply that the chances of all of them staying together long enough to reach that far were… slim.

He kept moving forward because that was all he could do, but deep down, even he knew how grim the odds were.

To clear this world, this “game” , meant reaching the final realm and facing whatever waited at the end.

And even [Hell-Mode Analysis], as well as the primordials within his [Primordial Space], believed the chances of success were close to zero.

Still, Sam didn’t allow despair to take root.

He couldn’t afford to.

For now, he simply focused on what was right in front of him.

He walked through the rest of the mansion, inspecting each room.

Every important space had been furnished with care.

The [Master Bedroom], however, was untouched, just as Sam had instructed.

Belle and Seraphine’s rooms, though, were another story entirely.

They had each chosen a room beside his, and both were lavishly decorated, clearly showing how much time and energy they’d poured into the details.

“Hehe~” Seraphine giggled, her tone light and full of satisfaction. “Now that it’s our home, it feels safer~”

Sam stepped toward the back of the mansion and noticed something he hadn’t paid attention to before.

There was a wide pool behind the house, its surface shimmering under the artificial sky of the Forsaken Kingdom.

Now, it even had chairs arranged neatly around it.

“How much did all this cost?” Sam asked, turning back toward them.

“It depends,” Seraphine said, shrugging. “Some furniture was expensive depending on its function, but most of it was between five and ten thousand forsaken coins.”

Sam nodded, his expression calm.

That wasn’t bad at all.

For the first time since they’d arrived in this realm, the mansion actually looked like a place where people could live comfortably.

He opened his menu.

“Here.”

Ding!

[You have sent 1,000,000 forsaken coins to “Seraphine Lunaris.”]

“I know it’s not enough to cover everything, but it’s enough for you to buy whatever else you need.”

Seraphine’s face lit up instantly.

“Thanks!” she beamed, immediately throwing her arms around him.

Sam didn’t resist, keeping a neutral expression as he let her hug him.

“Wait, what about me?!” Belle pouted, glaring playfully. “I helped too!”

“You spent all your money on a tracker and teleporter,” Sam sighed. “You’ll be fine. Plus, you’ll earn more once you complete the [Fifth Mission].”

“We were planning to do that soon,” Seraphine said, stepping back and smiling softly.

Sam nodded and turned toward the door.

“Let’s go. Maybe I can tell you a thing or two about what’s coming.”

The three of them left the mansion together.

They walked down the main street of the Forsaken Kingdom, where thousands of other awakeners moved about, trading, talking, and preparing for their next missions.

The place had grown busier over time, almost resembling a real city now.

They stopped at a restaurant near the main district.

The three took a table, ordered, and waited.

When their food arrived, Sam didn’t hold back, he ordered plenty.

He was starving after everything that had happened.

“The [Land of Judgment] is an individual mission,” Sam began, his tone even. “That means you’ll both be going alone.”

That piece of information caught their attention immediately.

While most awakeners already had an idea about the first few missions, the [Fifth Mission] remained a complete mystery.

Only Sam had cleared it. And nobody else had returned to talk about it yet.

“I can’t really say exactly how it’ll go,” Sam admitted, his gaze lowering slightly. “It’ll be different for each of you.”

He paused, his voice growing more serious.

“But as long as you’re not found guilty… you should be fine.”

“Huh.”

“Hm…”

Belle and Seraphine exchanged uncertain looks.

Sam took a sip of his drink before clarifying.

“By that, I mean that if your actions are seen as pure in the eyes of the Land of Judgment, you’ll pass easily.”

That was all he could safely tell them.

He had gone through the [Guilty Trials], a completely different version, so he couldn’t mislead them with false details.

“Looks like I’m dead,” Belle said with a dry laugh. “Can’t say I’m innocent of much.”

“As a saintess of the elves,” Seraphine said softly, straightening her back, “I believe in my purity.”

Belle snorted. “Sure you do.”

Seraphine ignored her, smiling gracefully.

The contrast between them made Sam shake his head slightly.

Different races, different attitudes, it was no surprise they didn’t always understand each other.

Still, he didn’t think either of them would actually fail.

“As I said,” he added quietly, “I think you’ll both be fine.”

“How can you say that?” Seraphine asked, tilting her head curiously. “Do you see potential in us?”

Her eyes shimmered with hope.

“Huh… no,” Sam mumbled. “It’s just plot armor.”

“…?”

They both blinked in confusion.

Sam didn’t elaborate.

He simply continued eating while the two exchanged puzzled glances.

But in his mind, he was being serious.

This world, [Forsakened], was a game.

And games had heroines. Heroines didn’t die easily.

They were protected by invisible narrative threads, what players used to call “plot armor.”

So, no matter how dangerous the trials became, Sam knew they’d probably make it through.

He just didn’t know how.

That same logic meant the game also had endings, multiple ones.

Different paths, different fates.

Which one would he reach? He didn’t know.

‘I hope it’s a good one,’ he thought. ‘Or maybe I’ll die before then. Who knows.’

In his past life, he’d avoided spoilers about [Forsakened].

He wanted to experience everything himself, so he always closed the forums when people talked about the “True Ending.”

Now, though, he almost regretted that.

It might’ve been useful to know what was coming.

After about thirty minutes, they finished their meal.

“Wait!” Belle said suddenly, pulling something out of her inventory, a glowing, crystal-like orb. “We can get back faster with this!”

It was the [Kingdom Teleporter] she bought.

“Grab onto me!”

Sam and Seraphine both touched her shoulder, and Belle activated the item.

Fwish!

Golden aura enveloped them.

In a flash, their bodies dissolved into glowing particles.

A few seconds later, the particles reformed in front of the mansion.

“This thing is amazing,” Belle said proudly, holding it up. “And it has unlimited uses!”

Sam nodded.

After everything they’d done today, all he wanted was to rest.

Tomorrow, he’d return to the [Fifth Zone] to grind, raise his rank to Level 5 and unlock another milestone reward.

And when the time came… He would step into the [Sixth Zone].

Face the monarch waiting there. And complete the next mission.
