Chapter 240: The Awakener Finder, New Mansion Inhabitants
Sam woke up inside his mansion and quickly sat up, his mind still heavy with thoughts from before.
‘The [Primordial Space],’ he thought. ‘So that’s the reason those Primordials are in my mind.’
The explanation made sense now.
They were here because they had all died.
And since he was the last Primordial alive, their consciousness or essence must have been pulled into his space by default.
It was strange, but logical in its own way. Still, that didn’t make everything clear.
Even though he shared his mind with them, they rarely wanted to reveal anything.
He wanted answers, but each time he tried asking, they avoided him.
It would’ve been easier if he could actually prepare, but…
“Not allowed to reveal anything.”
He remembered those words.
‘Is there something actually stopping them? But they’re dead…’
Maybe it wasn’t that they couldn’t, maybe they just didn’t want to.
But that made no sense.
They kept pushing him to keep going, to stay determined, to never give up.
That didn’t sound like people who wanted to keep him in the dark.
Unless… they had a reason to want him to die too.
Jealousy?
Maybe because he was the only one still alive, they wanted him to join them in death so they could finally “move on.”
He shook his head.
‘Well, it doesn’t matter. I’ll keep going.’
It wasn’t like he could freely see them anyway, it mostly happened when he was sleeping or if he died and [Determination is Fuel] activated.
He got out of bed and left the master bedroom, descending the stairs and stepping into the living room.
He was ready to leave.
The [Fifth Zone] awaited him, and grinding levels was the only thing that made sense right now.
But the very moment he stepped outside the mansion—
Fwish!
Two figures appeared before him, as if they had just teleported.
“Hi!”
“Hello~”
Sam blinked slowly, his face blank.
Standing in front of him were Belle and Seraphine, both smiling like they had just pulled off a miracle.
He had been asleep for a few hours, so it made sense they might’ve finished their own grinding.
In fact, he had planned to find them later to tell them about the mansion.
But still—
“How did you know where I was?” he asked, his voice flat.
The fact that they found him so easily, and literally teleported right in front of him, made the situation suspicious.
Belle’s smile only grew brighter.
“I bought an [Awakener Finder] and a [Kingdom Teleporter]!” she said proudly. “And Seraphine followed me!”
“I just wanna note it was her idea,” Seraphine muttered, avoiding his eyes.
“Huh? But you were the one who told me to do—”
“—Don’t say anything,” Seraphine interrupted quickly.
Sam sighed and opened the [Forsaken Shop] panel to check the items they mentioned.
—
[Awakener Finder — 2,000,000 Forsaken Coins][Place the name of an awakener on this item to locate them if they’re within the kingdom (not outside of it).]
—
[Kingdom Teleporter — 500,000 Forsaken Coins][Teleport to any location within the kingdom (not outside of it).]
—
Two and a half million coins. For just those two things.
Knowing that Belle and Seraphine had each completed only up to the [Fourth Mission], that meant the maximum they could each have was around 4,125,000 Forsaken Coins.
So Belle had spent over half her total savings on these two items alone.
More money than what it took to buy a mansion.
Sam didn’t know if he should feel concerned or impressed.
[Too obsessed.]
‘Wait, I thought we liked that?’
[We do.]
‘Damn.’
He scratched the back of his head, letting out a small laugh.
“As long as nothing gets in my way, I don’t care what you do,” he said with a faint smile.
Both girls nodded.
They knew he wasn’t angry—just cautious.
Turning back to his mansion, Sam brought up the interface again.
[Luxurious Mansion][Owner: Sam Walker]
‘It did say I can add people to the mansion, right? So they can enter freely…’
He thought about it and—
Ding!
[Do you wish to add “Seraphine Lunaris” and “Belle Draconian” as inhabitants of your mansion?]
“Yes.”
Ding!
[Luxurious Mansion][Owner: Sam Walker][Inhabitants: Seraphine Lunaris, Belle Draconian]
‘Good.’
Before, nobody could enter his mansion no matter how strong they were.
The barrier simply blocked them.
But now—
“You should be able to enter,” Sam said, gesturing toward the door.
The two girls looked at each other, then sprinted forward.
Sam stepped aside as they grabbed the handle and opened the door, stepping in like children entering a candy store.
“It’s empty inside,” Sam warned. “I’ll need to buy furniture from the [Forsaken Shop]. The only thing I got so far is a bed in the master bedroom.”
“Well, I guess we’ll all be sleeping together~” Belle teased.
Sam didn’t respond.
He sighed and turned around.
“Do whatever you want. It’s your home too.”
“I’ll save up and get some furniture,” Seraphine said, already glancing around the place.
That was the reason most mansions started empty—to let awakeners personalize them however they wanted.
After all, they might be stuck in this realm for years depending on the mission difficulty.
But Sam had no intention of staying that long.
[We’ll probably be dead before that.]
‘Great motivation. Thanks, me.’
[No problem.]
Seraphine smiled at him. “See you. I’ll try to make this place better. I still have enough coins for that.”
“Do whatever you want, just don’t touch the master bedroom.”
“Heh…?” Belle pouted. “But I thought we were going to sleep there together…”
“There’s enough rooms for a dozen people. You’ll be fine.” Sam waved his hand dismissively, still smiling.
He walked off, leaving them to explore.
As he did, he thought about the strange comfort this place provided.
The [Master Bed] had only cost 100,000 Forsaken Coins, which meant other furniture was probably just as accessible.
Things that could make life easier inside this cruel realm—better rest, better food, maybe even entertainment.
This world was bizarre.
It wanted to crush awakeners through endless suffering and missions… yet also tempted them with luxury, comfort, and peace if they could afford it.
He shook his head.
‘I guess I have two roommates now. But since they’ll handle designing the place, no need to make them pay.’
They cared more about decoration than he ever would, and honestly, it saved him the trouble.
Besides, if he managed to complete the next mission, he’d earn more than enough coins to buy the [Forsaken Coin Generator].
That thing would make money flow endlessly.
For now, though, that wasn’t the priority. He needed to return to the [Fifth Zone].
The monsters there were tough for most others, but a literal joke for Sam.
‘Two more levels before I reach level 5 of the forsaken rank.’
That came with a milestone reward, something that could change a lot based on what he got.
But reaching it would take time. Too much time.
He sighed, his expression calm but determined.
‘Still, I’ll get there. Whatever it takes.’
The mansion behind him filled with faint laughter as Belle and Seraphine began exploring every corner.
Sam took one last glance over his shoulder before stepping forward.
