Chapter 230: Orryx, The Pet Judge
[Orryx, The Pet Judge]

[Level: 95]

[Skills: Yellow Mist, Judgment Bite, Verdict Giver…]

[Description: The pet of the “Judge Monarch”, used mostly to give judgment to those that are found guilty during the “Judgment Trials”]

—

The pet of the three judges, along with the judges themselves, all focused on Sam as he took his stance.

Growl!

Orryx stepped forward, his heavy claws dragging across the broken floor of the arena, each scrape echoing as sparks burst from the ruined ground.

His jaws parted as if he were ready to pounce and tear apart anything standing before him.

“So idiotic.”

“Four against two.”

“There is no hope for you, Primordial. Give up.”

The three judges mocked him, their voices overlapping, filled with disdain.

“As we said before, the others are watching you.”

“The more you struggle, the more the [Colossals] and [King] enjoy it.”

“Because they know that in the end, you stand no chance at all.”

Sam did not answer them.

His face stayed calm, his body steady, though every muscle braced itself for what was about to unfold.

The judges rose slowly from the ground, their bodies drifting into the air as if carried by unseen weight.

They raised their hands toward Sam, while still holding the bell, the rope, and the scale in their other hands.

Those items glowed faintly, each a symbol of authority, each a weapon that could be used against him at any moment.

Sam had no way of knowing how they would wield them, because when he checked their abilities, the only skills shown were tied to judgment.

None of them described their methods of attack.

That mystery existed for a simple reason.

Nobody who came here ever lived long enough to discover it.

Anyone who entered this place was judged by Orryx, torn apart, and executed before ever forcing the judges into a fight.

It meant there was no reason for them to ever display their true power.

Until now.

“For the sake of this realm…” the first judge said, ringing his bell, its sound carrying like a curse.

“For the sake of this world…” the second judge’s scale tilted heavily, its weight tipping as if measuring the worth of Sam’s existence.

“For the sake of the King!” the third judge shouted, his rope spinning faster and faster through the air.

“WE WILL KILL YOU.”

ROOOOOARRRR!

Orryx roared in response, his entire body glowing with energy, as though empowered by their words.

The beast launched himself forward with impossible speed, tearing through the distance between them in the blink of an eye.

‘Damn, this thing is almost as fast as the [Demon of Corruption], even at that size,’ Sam thought, his eyes narrowing in surprise.

Judgment Claws!

SLASH!

Sam raised his sword and blocked the strike, but Orryx followed with another and another, his claws moving like storm winds.

At the same time, yellow mist poured from his jaws, spreading across the arena, clouding Sam’s vision.

“Orryx grows stronger the more [Guilty] a person is,” one judge sneered.

“Which means right now… he is in his strongest form,” the second added.

“And when you die, we’ll make sure you suffer for all eternity, until even your determination falters,” the third finished, their voices sharp with triumph.

Sam deflected blow after blow, his arms shaking from the relentless strikes.

The beast pressed forward, refusing to allow him a moment of rest.

JUDGMENT BITE!

Orryx suddenly changed tactics.

He faked a claw strike, then snapped his massive jaws open and lunged to bite down.

SMASH!

His fangs clamped against Sam’s [Primordial Barrier], the force enough to lift Sam straight from the ground.

With a violent jerk of his neck, Orryx hurled him across the arena, flinging him toward one of the gaping holes in the stone floor.

Sam’s body slammed into the air above the abyss, the black void yawning beneath him.

The barrier had absorbed the direct damage, but being grabbed and thrown still left him at the mercy of momentum.

The [Primordial Barrier] shielded him from harm, but it could not prevent being pushed, carried, or cast away.

And right now, he was about to be swallowed by the endless dark below.

“!!!”

Sam’s eyes widened as his instincts flared.

Primordial Wings!

Flap!

His wings burst open, slamming the air as he caught himself at the edge, halting his fall.

He hovered there for an instant, his gaze narrowing sharply.

‘The fact that it tried to throw me into the void tells me enough,’ Sam thought as his eyes ignited with fire.

‘Alright. Let’s end this.’

He had no intention of dragging the fight any longer.

He cared nothing for Orryx, nothing for these so-called judges.

But to others watching, the situation looked impossible.

A monarch was already beyond reach.

With a pet added to that, it should have been a fight without hope.

And yet… Sam’s eyes burned with refusal.

Slash! Slash! Slash!

He pressed forward, blocking, slashing, and forcing his way through Orryx’s storm of attacks.

And after a relentless exchange…

VERDICT GIVER!

Orryx unleashed his greatest power.

Sam quickly glanced at the description.

[Verdict Giver: Use the power of the “Mist of Judgment” to empower yourself and strike down anything in the way of your verdict, you gain several attacks to do that.]

The yellow mist that had poured from Orryx until now suddenly reversed.

It spiraled inward, rushing into his body, filling him until his eyes glowed like molten suns.

His fur lit with energy, his muscles swelling with power.

ROOOOARRRR!

The roar ripped apart the arena itself, the shockwave cracking stone and opening even more holes beneath them.

Orryx’s claws blurred, his strikes coming faster than before, forcing Sam to deflect each blow with frantic precision.

Sam’s gaze flicked toward his primordial clone.

He gave the faintest nod, and the clone grinned back.

Fwish!

“It’s over,” Sam muttered, grinning as he caught another blow before vanishing in an instant, reappearing behind the beast.

Fwish!

He swung his primordial sword, aiming to cut the monster down in one decisive strike.

But just before the blade connected—

“Nope~,” the third judge sang, tossing his rope.

The glowing lasso snapped through the air, coiling around Sam’s body in mid-strike.

“!!!”

Sam’s eyes went wide.

A dreadful instinct warned him that if he were caught, it would mean certain death.

The judges had been waiting for this moment, always ready to protect Orryx whenever he faltered.

The rope tightened, about to trap him completely.

Primordial Rush!

Sam sank instantly into the ground, the rope snapping shut around nothing but air.

“Huh.”

“I guess he can do that.”

“Haha… but you can’t escape forever.”

SWASH!

Orryx slashed downward, his claws ripping at the faint trace Sam left along the floor as he moved underground.

Sam waited, patient, then burst upward when the danger passed.

He could not attack while beneath the surface, but he could use it to dodge.

And when he emerged, his eyes locked onto his clone.

“Alright,” Sam said with a grin, “It’s over.”

The judges frowned, confusion flashing across their faces.

They could not understand.

Sam was being torn apart.

Every attempt he made to strike was interrupted by them.

He was pinned against impossible odds.

So why did he still look so confident?

The answer came swiftly.

Because the moment Orryx’s power peaked, when he was about to unleash his deadliest assault…

ECLYPSE SLASH!

The primordial clone swung its sword in a wide arc, releasing the [Eclypse Slash].

A crescent of blackened light erupted outward, so vast and so fast it consumed the arena in its path.

The slash screamed toward Orryx at light speed.

There was no dodging.

“What…?”

“The fuck?”

“…?”

The judges froze, their minds blank, unable to react in time.

SLASH!

The crescent tore through Orryx, slicing him clean in half at the waist.

His eyes flickered with confusion, then dimmed as life drained from his body.

The beast collapsed, severed and silenced in an instant.

The slash had been aimed precisely at him alone, sparing the judges, leaving them untouched.

“Orryx…” one whispered.

“Looks like we’ll have to step in,” another muttered.

“We’ll just have to watch carefully,” the third said, his voice hardening with grim resolve.

Their eyes burned with determination.

But since when would Sam allow them such a chance?

Because when they turned their gaze downward—

“Huh?”

They saw Sam already charging his sword, energy surging across its edge.

And then, without hesitation, he swung.

ECLYPSE SLASH!

This time, the attack was aimed not at the pet since it was already it was aimed at the judges themselves.

Sam couldn’t see their eyes as they seemed carved on their faces but… he saw them jolt.

“=)”

The primordial clone seemed to find that funny, but Sam’s expression was as serious as ever.

Fwish!

The eclypse slash rushed toward them faster than the judges could react.

They had seen that thing kill the [Pale Monarch], and they just saw it defeat Orryx, meaning that they KNEW this was bad.

But even then… they still weren’t fast or durable enough to dodge or tank it.

Fwish…. SLASH!

The [Eclypse Slash] cut right through the three of them in the air, cutting their bodies in half.

And at that moment, their bodies fell to the ground, unmoving.

“…Hm,” Sam stared at them for a few seconds, then a wide smile appeared on his face, “=)”

[They didn’t expect that, did they?]
