Chapter 254: 254:Chaos At Merchant Association
In the capital of Ruthiana, tension filled the air inside a grand office chamber. The messenger stood with his back straight, nervous. In front of him, a man’s expression twisted sharply as he absorbed the words he heard.

“What did you say?”

The messenger swallowed. “Sir Steven, the slave transportation from the Duchy of Salvos and surrounding regions has been interrupted.”

“Interrupted! How?” Steven’s voice cracked like a whip.

“Baron Blank personally acted.”

The instant those words left the messenger’s mouth, Steven’s face darkened. The veins in his neck bulged.

“What? That son of a bitch. He dared to put his hands into our business again!” Steven roared, leaning forward with rage in his eyes.

He was the President of the Merchant Association.

For years, his influence spread deep and wide across Ruthiana. Everything ran smoothly until Ethan entered the market with garments and jewelry. Those became hot commodities instantly. Noble families scrambled for every piece, desperate to collect anything beautiful or rare. But because of one person, everything changed.

Every merchant who tried selling similar products fell into bankruptcy. What angered Steven the most was that whenever they copied the design after finally understanding it, a new product suddenly appeared in the market again. Something better and something they could not replicate and could not compete with.

You may ask why?

Because for nobles,it’s like a trend.

Once the new trend appears, the old trend is buried. And those who spent money to make those things and by the time they sell, the trend will be gone.

And now, even the slave routes were disturbed.

“That bastard is acting again,” Steven muttered through clenched teeth.

A knock suddenly came from the door, sharp and urgent.

“Sir, there is a message from Blank.”

Steven’s face twitched. “Damn. Speak of the devil. Bring it here.”

The servant hurried inside and handed him the sealed letter. Steven tore it open, eyes racing across the page. As he reached the end, his face went pale and he slammed his hand on the desk. Papers and ink bottles trembled.

“Are you threatening me?” His voice was low but dangerous.

“A mere fucking Baron. Do you really think you are worth something just because you are a Master Rank?” He stood up aggressively, the chair scraping back. His anger burned. “You don’t know the immensity of the heavens because you have always lingered in those backwater lands.”

He paced around the room, breathing heavily. His fury grew with each step. “Good…. Good. Now you have thoroughly provoked me. Now you will suffer the consequences.”

He stopped suddenly and raised his voice loud enough to shake the corridor outside.

“Bring me the carriage!”

The servant flinched. “Sir, where are you going?”

“To the Adventurer Guild Headquarters.”

With that, Steven stormed out, his cloak swinging behind him like a shadow of war.

His face carried one emotion only.

That was revenge.

……

A group of mercenaries stood frozen. Their eyes were locked onto the man before them, and even seasoned killers felt their breath hitch. A heavy aura pressed on their chests like a boulder. The man sat tall, calm, yet terrifying beyond reason.

He had a long cross-shaped scar carved across the mask he wore. Instead of making him look broken or freakish, it only added more fear to his presence. Like a mark of death.

He was Simmon.

The Guild Master of the Adventurer Guild of Ruthiana.

The Adventurer Guilds spread across the world were bound together under one network. A web of trade, cooperation, contracts, and communication, all tied into one massive structure known as the Guild Association.

Not long ago, after the war ended, the upper authorities appointed Simmon as the Guild Master of the Ruthiana branch. People talked about it everywhere.

And everyone whispered the same thing.

He was terrifying as if he was a monster.

Not a monster in appearance. A monster in power.

The first thing he did after being appointed was visit Duke Monopolis. Everyone expected a disaster. The Guilds had always been under the throttle of the Kingdom, chained and forced to kneel like obedient dogs. They paid heavy tribute just to survive because they had no choice.

But Simon went straight to the Duke’s doorstep without hesitation

No one ever found out what happened in that room, but when Simon stepped out, the world changed.

The Guild’s tribute to the Kingdom dropped from sixty percent to ten percent. Restrictions that suffocated them for decades were removed in one stroke. From that day onward, Simon controlled the Guild with absolute dominance.

Everyone knew.

To make a Duke bow, this man was not someone who could be provoked.

Simon sat back in his chair, fingers tapping slowly, eyes fixed on the trembling man in front of him.

“So this noble wants us to bring Possidor Stones from the Empire irrespective of the cost.”

His voice was calm, yet it cut like a blade.

“How much are you going to pay?”

The servant swallowed. “My master will pay you 5000 gold coins.”

Summon’s brows tightened. Silence stretched like a hanging rope.

“Do you even know how the Possidor Stone is made?”

The man nodded, though uneasily.

“It needs the sacrifice of hundreds of virgin men and women. Their essence needs to be extracted and blended by a alchemist. Do you think 5000 is enough for something like that?”

“But haven’t you gotten plenty of slaves? Use them?”

Simon leaned forward, voice dropping a tone.

“You want me to waste my slaves for this? If each slave sells for fifty gold, I can earn five thousand with only a hundred of them. And do not forget how much your master pays for higher quality breeds. Didn’t your Duke Estate buy a woman for two thousand?”

Those words made the servant stiff. His breathing faltered.

Summon’s tone stayed flat. “Ask him for fifty thousand. If he agrees, within a month we will arrange it.”

Just then the doors burst open.

BAM!

Summon’s eyes narrowed as Steven entered with hurried steps.

“Don’t you have manners, Mister Steven?”

“I have. But the news made me forget about them.”

Simon tilted his head slightly. “What is the news about?”

Steven threw an envelope across the table. Simon caught it with two fingers. He then motioned for the servant and the client to leave.

The servants bowed and stepped back quickly, just wanting to escape the suffocating atmosphere. They had hardly reached the hallway and almost exhaled in relief when everything shook.

RUMBLE!RUMBLE!RUMBLE!

A violent burst of aura exploded from inside the room. It slammed into the servant’s back like a battering ram. He flew through the corridor and crashed into the wall, coughing blood.

The ground trembled and walls rattled and dust erupted as if an explosion had taken place.
