Chapter 236: 236:Dual Pathway
After a ball crushing sensation,Ethan pleaded for apology however the earful went for an entire day until Sophia heard what happened that made her pass out.

“WHAAAT!”

“So you breakthrough to Master Rank Mage!” Rina asked, her expression doubtful and her tone heavy with disbelief.

“Uhmm!” Ethan nodded lightly.

Everyone stared at him, eyes wide, breathing paused, as if the entire room stopped moving. A long deep silence hung in the air, thick and unmoving, until Sophia suddenly burst into an uneasy laugh.

“Pftt!”

“That’s a good joke right… Right??”

FWOSHH!

A small flame flickered alive at the tip of Ethan’s finger. The gentle fire was enough to silence everyone in the room. Sophia froze, mouth hanging open, and confusion slowly twisted into shock. She grabbed her hair, pulling it harshly as if she might wake from a dream.

“So you are telling me,” she shouted, voice trembling a little, “the husband that I picked on face value is not only a King’s Knight but also a Master Mage?”

Before Ethan could answer she leaped forward, clutching his cheeks and stretching his face left and right.

“Are you really my husband? What if you are an imposter?”

Ethan felt veins popping near his forehead. He grabbed her waist, lifted her up slightly, and smacked her butt. Sophia squeaked and jumped back. The other women turned red instantly, embarrassed and startled by the sudden action.

“Can you stop all this farce? This isn’t a comedy scene,” Ethan scowled, running a hand through his hair. “Why are you all surprised?”

Rina blinked several times. For the first time she genuinely wanted to punch his handsome face, but she restrained herself. Diana looked the same, annoyed yet impressed. Lia however was simply staring at Ethan like he was glowing, her eyes sparkling as if she was falling in love again.

Sophia crossed her arms, trying to calm down. Rina inhaled slowly and spoke, her tone steady.

“I think you don’t understand the weight of this so you didn’t think much of it. But have you ever seen anyone with a dual path?”

Ethan rubbed his chin. “I haven’t but aren’t we living in a backward region?”

Rina shook her head.

“You are right about that but there is something more. Apparently one path suppresses the other. Even if someone is born with aptitude for both Knight and Mage, the stronger aptitude will suppress the weaker. So if you are born with D rank Knight and E rank Mage, the Knight path will overwhelm the Mage path.”

Ethan’s eyes widened instantly. His thoughts jumped straight to his children.

“What if both aptitudes are of the same rank?”

Rina answered without delay.

“Then both of them will clash with each other. It will make the person useless in both paths. They will never progress smoothly.”

“What?” Ethan almost shouted. His heart dropped. He knew several of his kids inherited dual aptitude. If this was true, they might never grow to their full potential. It felt like a waste he could not bear.

Without hesitation he called the system inside his mind.

‘System, clarify this!’

[Host, it’s completely bogus. Less than 0.000000001% are born with dual aptitude which makes them incredibly rare.]

[Out of those rare few, many do not have enough time or resources to train both paths properly.]

[Also the clash she is talking about only happens when elemental attributes conflict. For example, if a Mage aptitude has flame element and Knight aptitude has wind element, then both elements conflict and make it hard to progress.]

[And the most important reason. If you only train the Mage path, your soul grows strong but your body cannot endure the pressure. If you only train the Knight path, your body grows strong but your soul stays weak.]

Ethan frowned deeply. His expression was twisted, struggling to understand.

‘Isn’t it the same? Don’t Mages train their souls yet ignore physical endurance?’

[That is where most people misunderstand. A Mage’s soul growth aligns and harmonizes with the body slowly over time. A Knight in training strengthens their soul through intent, willpower, belief and physical struggle which eventually becomes aura.]

[Both systems grow together when trained individually, but if a person has dual aptitude, their soul and body grow unevenly. This imbalance is the root of conflict and collapse.]

‘I see…’

Ethan exhaled slowly.

‘So the key lies in balance, right?’

[Yes.]

‘But I don’t think I have balanced my power.’

[Host, you are different. Please do not use yourself as a reference for others.]

He sighed as the explanation finally settled into his mind. No one interrupted him while he thought. They watched him quietly, waiting for him to speak.

After a long moment he looked up with a tired smile.

“Sorry. I was just overseeing things in my head and checking if everything was correct. Thankfully I am alright.”

He then explained what the system clarified. Diana and Rina listened carefully, nodding as everything began to make sense.

“Hmm… That’s a plausible reason,” Diana muttered thoughtfully. “Now that I think, years of research should have revealed this. Maybe people already know the truth but hide it.”

Ethan nodded with a faint bitter smile.

“I accidentally discovered my mage potential. So I lack foundation and basic understanding.”

“You should ask Duchess Emma for guidance,” Diana suggested calmly.

“I will, once the marriage is over,” Ethan replied.

Everyone slowly relaxed, the tension fading like smoke. They looked at Ethan not just as a husband or father anymore, but as someone standing on a path rarely walked. A dual path cultivator.

A Master Mage and King’s Knight. A man defying rules of the world without even realizing it.

The room was quiet, but no longer from shock.

They were simply processing the reality that the man before them…was far beyond ordinary.

Little did they know that the man would be giving much greater surprise than this and it won’t be the end of it.
