230: 230:The Worried Prince 230: 230:The Worried Prince Ethan jolted on the horse as it sped towards the Duchy.

The cold morning wind brushed against his face, and the hooves echoed sharply on the stone road.

Accompanying him this time was Joel, who rode right beside him with a focused expression, and behind them followed a squad of the Order of Eternal Blades along with other knights.

Their armor clinked softly as they moved in formation.

During the journey, Ethan noticed Joel looking around sharply like a hawk.

His eyes moved from one side of the road to the other as if he expected danger to jump out at any moment.

Ethan tilted his head and asked, “Hey, Joel…

What’s up with this look?” Joel did not take his eyes off the surroundings.

“Sir Randall said that every time you walk out you encounter some trouble, so I am on alert.” “Haa… That’s just a joke.

I am not a walking disaste-” Ethan’s lips shut the moment he felt the presence of a crowd blocking their path in the middle of the road.

The noise hit them first, like a wave of mixed gasps and whispers.

Ethan’s lips twitched, and he slowly turned his head toward Joel, who eyed him curiously.

“This isn’t what you think,” Ethan muttered quickly.

“I think we should focus on the problem,” Joel suggested, his tone calm.

The two of them tightened their grip on the reins and sped up to see what was happening.

As they neared the City Gates of Salvos Duchy, they saw a huge crowd gathered.

From afar the people gave off a suffocating presence, almost like an overwhelming pressure.

But when Ethan finally reached the front and saw their faces clearly, his eyes widened in disbelief.

It was people praising his name.

Dozens… no, hundreds of citizens stood together.

Some held flowers.

Some carried banners.

Many raised their hands high as they shouted with gratitude.

Their voices overlapped and echoed around the entrance like a rising wave.

“Great Lord Ethan!” “All hail our savior!” “Blessings upon the one who saved our families!” People cheered until their throats hurt.

Mothers lifted their children so they could see him.

Old men bowed deeply.

Others pressed their hands over their hearts as if they were seeing a hero return from a long war.

The expressions on their faces were full of warmth, admiration and genuine relief.

It was like the entire Duchy had gathered just to welcome him home.

Ethan stopped his words completely.

He could only stare at the overwhelming scene in front of him.

Joel glanced at him with a raised brow, clearly amused yet still focused.

At that time, a guard from the Duchy ran toward Ethan and stopped before him.

The guard kneeled down with respect and bowed his head.

Ethan blinked.

“What’s going on?” “My Lord, everyone here is showing you gratitude,” he said.

“Last time you left without showing up, so people are showing their gratitude now,” the guard explained.

“After all, without you none of them would survive.

So please follow me, Lord.

I hope this isn’t burdensome.” “Of course not,” Ethan replied softly.

Under the loud cheers of the citizens, Ethan and his men continued forward.

The procession slowly moved through the gates, and people reached out to greet him warmly and cordially.

Some threw petals.

Some shouted blessings.

Others simply watched him with shining eyes.

As he entered the Mansion grounds, Ethan saw Julia along with the Duke and Duchess waiting at the entrance.

They stood straight with sincere smiles, welcoming him personally.

It spoke volumes about the authority and respect he had earned.

Seeing this, Ethan could not help but chuckle.

His chest felt strangely warm.

“Once I was nobody but now I have reached such a position,” he thought.

“Just how fast time changes.” …….

“So, he is the one whom people are talking about… Huh?” A man spoke calmly as he stared at the picture laid out before him.

His eyes moved down to the long list of achievements written below it.

He tapped the paper lightly with his finger.

A commoner who worked as a servant in Baron Blanks’ household.

Chosen as husband by Sophia Blanks at the age of eighteen.

Showcased his mastery in crafting quality garments and jewellery that later became famous throughout Ruthiana.

Except for that, nothing astonishing.

Nothing outstanding for a few years, until… Opened the blocked Mana Crystal Mine at twenty-two.

Defeated Baron Fenwick at the age of twenty-three.

Broke through to the Advanced Stage during the battle and shocked everyone.

Then cleared the D-rank dungeon.

Then found and foiled the plans of a Lich.

Years later cleared a C-rank dungeon during a tour to the County.

And now he took on three Master Rank Priests alongside Duchess Emma.

The man’s brows tightened slightly as he went over every detail carefully.

He finally asked, “Is all this information correct, or have they been exaggerated?” “That…” Draco hesitated, his voice trembling a little.

“Draco, speak carefully.” A piercing gaze shot straight at Draco like a blade.

His entire body stiffened, and sweat rolled down his temple.

He lowered his head quickly, unable to keep eye contact with the man’s cold stare.

“If all of these are just false words of praise and I end up pulling a dead weight, you will suffer very cruelly,” the man warned, his tone icy and slow.

Hearing this, Draco fell to his knees.

His voice shook as he said, “Your Highness, all of these are recorded details of common people since our personal intel group has not investigated it yet.” “But even if some of those are false, we cannot neglect that this person is a Master Knight, and that too one of the youngest.” “So we should not let go of this chance.” “Hm.” The man rubbed his chin slowly and fell into deep thought.

His eyes narrowed as he stared at the documents again.

“You are right about that.

But is he even worthy to stand alongside us?

Master Rank is good to have for standing, but for us it just means another additional servant as we already have Duke Keeves supporting us.” Just then a knock echoed through the room.

“Come in.” A messenger walked inside and bowed with urgency.

“Your Highness, I brought the latest intel that might be crucial.” “Whom is this about?” the man asked without moving his gaze from the papers.

“It is about Baron Blanks.” “What happened?” He stood up from his seat with a faint unease rising in his chest.

“Your Highness, Baron Blanks has been invited to the Duchy with great fanfare.” The man froze for a moment, then slowly stood straight.

“Don’t tell me… the Duke is planning to escape the grasp.” His expression darkened.

“No.

We need to make a move.” He spoke with a cold gaze.

However, little did he know that he was already late.
