Chapter 394: Chapter 394 The Undying Witch
At first, Clarien was puzzled by the sound that he was hearing and his eyes focused on the source. Which just so happened to be coming from Delilah’s chest.

“Why Clarien, I didn’t know that you saw me in such a way.” Delilah said, turning her head to the side bashfully and blushing.

The fact that she was able to do so nearly perfectly despite the situation was impressive, but Clarien was too keyed in on the sound to bother with her antics this time.

Carefully he listened, and it did not take him long to recognize the characteristic beeping noise that was slowly speeding up.

“You’re bluffing. When I had you scanned, there wasn’t something like that inside of you.”

Though he made this assertion, there was still a hint of fear in Clarien’s eyes.

“That’s because it wasn’t there at the time. But ever since you had me brought here, it’s been forming inside my body from parts that normally remain scattered to avoid detection. But while you were monologuing and spewing your inconsequential threats, the bomb in my chest finished constructing itself.” Delilah said, smiling a bit wider than normal as she backed Clarien into checkmate.

For just a moment, he was frozen in panic, not sure what to do.

While he was still skeptical about Delilah’s claim of there being a bomb in her chest. Knowing her it was not completely out of the realm of possibility.

Quickly, Clarien cracked.

Telling himself that whether it was a hoax or not, his best bet was to get out of there.

If there really was a bomb, he needed to get to safety, and if it turned out to be a farce as he believed, he could always just come back later.

“Keep an eye on her! I have something important to attend to!”

Clarien tried to put on airs with the two men that had escorted Delilah, but they were not fooled by him.

The crack in his voice and the terror on his face was all they needed to know that their boss was trying to run away.

Seeing as how their lives were on the line as well, the two of them rushed to escape as well. They were not loyal enough to follow a potentially suicidal order while their boss fled.

Throughout this entire failed escapade, every individual that worked under Clarien had seen how easily he was willing to dispose of them when it proved beneficial to him. And the two here were not going to be the next sacrifices he offered up to survive.

Seeing their reactions, Delilah snickered at how foolish they were being.

All three of them tried to cram through the office door at once and got stuck like something out of a cartoon.

“It’s already too late to get away. The moment I turned your attention to the bomb, you and the goons that brought me here were already dead. I can assure you that the yield is quite impressive. You should accept the end with a little dignity.”

Still, despite Delilah’s chiding, disingenuous as it was, neither Clarien nor his subordinates stopped frantically running away.

They made it a good six meters before the bomb in Delilah’s chest released a slightly longer and more high-pitched sound.

This marked the end of the detonation timer, and from inside of her body, a powerful blast rippled out. Completely destroying Delilah’s body and expanding out around thirty meters in every direction.

Needless to say, Clarien was unable to avoid being caught up in the blast radius.

The protection from his personal shield generator lasted for only a fraction of a second before it was breached.

It was a painful but at the very least quick death as Clarien was blown apart.

Several members of his crew, including the two men that been in the room with him were hit by the explosion as well.

Except, that was the least of their worries.

The location of Clarien’s office had been on one of the upper decks of his ship, and the blast had punched a hole in the vessel’s hull.

Immediately alarms started to blare, and the craft lost the stability of the field around it that allowed it to travel through hyperspace.

Try as the crew might to stabilize the ship, it proved an impossible task.

Eventually they were dragged out of hyperspace and pulled back into normal space.

However, exiting hyperspace without going through a proper exit put immense strain on a vessel. Often times they could be ripped completely apart.

Clarien’s ship was fortunate though, and survived entering normal space intact, but several of the external systems were badly damaged and most of the outer armor plating had been stripped off.

The vessel was now dead in space, and there was very little chance that anyone would find them before the reaming crew onboard died.

…

“I guess number twenty-nine didn’t make it.”

A woman with shoulder length, bouncy brown hair walked out of a suspended animation pod

She stretched her arms above her head and twisted her body around.

This was her first time ever waking up, but she had memories spanning back over two centuries already.

Once she felt a bit more comfortable moving her body around, she headed towards a nearby mirror to check out her new appearance.

“I look a lot younger this time. My face is more cute than beautiful now. That’s both good and bad. People will let their guard down around me more, but some won’t take me as seriously. These are also a lot bigger than before too. I’ll need to get a completely new wardrobe.”

Delilah put her hands under her chest and sighed. During her last three lives, her body type had remained mostly the same and she had been able to adjust easily. This time though, she would need a bit longer.

“Madame. The secondary memory implanting process is ready.”

A robot dressed like a butler walked into the room and began relaying information to the recently reborn Delilah.

“I see. I suppose that there’s no point in putting it off. I wonder how far number twenty-nine’s memories go. I’m hoping that I’ll get to see Clarien’s pitiful end.” The thirtieth Delilah said, her lips twisting up into an eerie smile.
