Chapter 376: Chapter 376 Urs Vs a Power Armor Squad
While Clarien’s and Rook’s forces had been trying to maintain their cover at first, now that things had escalated to the point that they were firing missiles in the street, that was no longer an option.

The Alliance Police were undoubtably going to be aware of them now, but it would take them far more time than normal to prepare a suitable response in light of the current situation.

Most of their units had left the station to join the battle against the pirates, so only the bare minimum needed to maintain normal order had remained behind.

With the number of troops that Rook and Clarien had at their disposal, a few patrol vehicles were not going to cut it. The Alliance Police would need to muster most of their current strength to suppress them.

“The power armor squad has arrived. Considering their abilities, they should be able to clean this up quickly.” Clarien said, monitoring the operation from the bridge of his ship.

“I don’t understand why I don’t just head out any deal with this myself. That old man looks like he’d be fun to fight. And while I’m beating him down, the others could easily retrieve the targets.”

On the viewscreen connected to Rook, Clarien could clearly see that his partner was itching to get out there.

He was in charge of the strike team that had infiltrated the station, but his position was as a commander. Clarien had stressed that he should only personally join the attack if it was absolutely necessary.

“We don’t even know if Urs Orso is still alive. One of our squads just rained micro missiles down on him. I’d be surprised if he is in any shape to fight even if he survived. There’s no reason to risk you going out there. The Alliance Police have already been slowing us down with their patrols and checks, but now we have to expect a concentrated attack eventually. There’s a good chance that we’re going to lose a large portion of our soldiers. I don’t want you to be among them.” Clarien said, trying to dissuade his partner from leaving his position.

“That won’t have been anywhere near enough to take down a guy like him. You’re underestimating the strength that one person can have. We’re fighting the man that trained the boy that brought down your ship with a mere group of three. He’s probably at least as good if not better. So should the power armor squad not be able to stop him, I’ll be going out there personally to deal with him.”

There was a vicious grin on Rook’s face and Clarien could tell that this was the most that he was willing to compromise.

‘He’s always been like this. Never content sitting back and just giving orders. Just because he’s the strongest, why does he feel the need to join every battle?’ Clarien thought, hoping that their struggles against Urs would soon be brought to an end.

…

Feeling himself buried under a pile of rubble, Urs quickly checked his body by flexing his muscles and moving slightly to make sure that he was not injured.

“Just a few cuts and bruises. Nothing to worry about.” He mumbled as he put strength into his back and legs.

Despite there being several hundred kilograms of debris on top of him, he easily pushed the chucks of concrete off of himself.

With a quick glance upwards, he saw where one of the micro missiles had hit the side of the building towering over him to his right.

It was the explosion from that missile that had sent chucks of rubble falling towards him that ended up burying him.

Still, considering the scale of the attack against him, he had gotten out without suffering much damage.

As Urs was assessing the condition of his equipment, his keen ears picked up the sound of heavy footfalls coming in his direction.

A few moments later, he saw two figures wearing light power armor come around a corner into the alleyway that he was in.

“Target spotted in section 6f. Engaging now.”

Showing no hesitation, the two individuals pointed their heavy laser rifles at Urs and opened fire.

Large and power blasts began flying down the alley towards Urs.

With no immediate place to escape, he hastily kicked up a large piece of rubble and launched it forward.

It did not get very far before being blown apart by the laser rifle fire, but it absorbed a couple of blows and gave Urs and opening to move.

“Above!” One of the men wearing power armor shouted to alert his partner.

Urs had chosen to attack rather than flee and was bouncing between the alley walls to gain height as he approached the enemy combatants.

They had managed to recover quickly thanks to their armor’s sensors and the training that they had undergone under Rook.

Yet, even as they target Urs while he was in midair, neither of them were able to land a clean shot on him. Only grazing the shield protecting him a few times.

When Urs finally dropped down right in front of them, one of the individuals in power armor took one hand off of his laser rifle and prepared for close combat.

From a compartment on his power armor’s left gauntlet, a sharp blade popped out in just a fraction of a second.

The man thrust at Urs with a deadly swift stab. Aiming directly at his center of mass to deal a heavy blow to his vitals.

However, Urs simply moved faster and grabbed the man’s arm and stopped it cold.

Though his opponents were wearing power armor and he was not, Urs still was able to overpower them with the sheer strength his body possessed.

After stopping the first attack heading towards him, Urs picked the man wearing power armor up and swung him around like a flail towards the other one.

His second attacker had moved into position to strike him from behind with a direct shot from their laser rifle, but they had been just an instant too slow.

By the time they had pulled the trigger on their weapon, Urs had already spun around with their teammate around and used their body to block the shot.

Then with perfect time, he let the man go and sent him flying into his partner.

Propelled by the force of the impact, the two of them smashed into the wall behind them and left deep cracks in it.

Except, Urs was not done yet.

Before gravity could even start to pull them back down, he had pushed himself off from the ground and sent a heavy kick towards the two power armored individuals.

The one at the front that he had just thrown took the brunt of the blow, and the armor plating of his power armor visually bent inward as Urs’ foot connected.

He had held nothing back, hitting this pair of enemies with every ounce of force he could muster.

Naturally, this sent them smashing through the wall that they were up against and flying into the building. Blasting through several more walls before finally coming to a stop.

Even wearing power armor, that kind of blow was not something that they would escape from unscathed.

Urs figured that they would need at least a few minutes before they were capable of fighting again.

Normally he would finish them off to prevent them from becoming a future threat, but the time it would take to do so was not something he had right now.

‘There are too many of them between me and the entrance that Robert and Serena used. I’ll have to head towards another one. I’m glad that they made it inside safely though.’ Urs thought, just having received a notification on his terminal that Avery’s parents had arrived at his safehouse.

Along the way, Urs got into a few more skirmishes, but he was able to get past them without too much trouble and continued heading towards his destination.

Unfortunately, he eventually ran into a large group of soldiers wearing power armor.

There were more than two dozen of them, with some floating in the air using propulsion devices.

It was clear that they had been leading him towards this area and set up this ambush to finish him off once and for all.

“This is going to be difficult to get through with the tactics I’ve been using so far.”

From out of his bag, Urs pulled out a large spherical device that only just barely fit in his hand.

He only had one of these on him, so he had been saving it. However, if there was a time to use the item, it was now.

Dashing out from behind the corner he was hiding behind into the open area where the power armored troop was waiting for him, Urs immediately tossed the device forward and began weaving around erratically to make himself harder to hit.

Some of the soldiers fired on him, while others took aim at the item he had thrown.

A few blasts managed to hit both Urs and the sphere, but it was already too late.

Urs’ personal shield had blocked the attacks coming towards him at the cost of most of its capacity, and the device went off before it was destroyed.

A powerful burst of energy erupted from the electromagnetic pulse grenade Urs had deployed.

The people wearing power armor that were airborne quickly began plummeting back to the ground as their propulsion devices stopped working, and the others found their armor moving far too slowly to their commands.

“I bet you all feel like your trapped in a bunch of cans now. But that’s one of the weaknesses of power armor. Especially the model that you’re all using. It doesn’t have sufficient shielding against electromagnetic attacks.” Urs said, confidently while strolling forward.
