Chapter 193: An Unexpected Kiss Clairvoyance Couldn’t See Coming
“He did WHAT?!” James, who sat in his own villa, rose to his feet while looking at the tablet through which he made a video call.

“THAT’S NOT POSSIBLE!”

“The gate’s gone. I saw it with my own eyes.” The man speaking to him, a fellow Pendragon, replied.

***

Christine paced around her room, making one call after another. Seven hours, seven hours was all it took for Godfrey to shake the entire upper echelon Pendragon Island.

The members were on their toes. Everyone wanted to know how exactly Godfrey closed down a blue gate. That gate represented their tradition, but closing it was something bigger. How was it even possible?!

Was it something only Godfrey’s summon could do?

After the last call, Christine threw her phone onto the bed and rubbed her forehead. She recalled her daughter telling her that Godfrey actually took the boss and the leader of the Wood Elves to his castle.

Living or dead beings couldn’t be taken to people’s soul spaces. It had to be possible because of the Castle, but what was most shocking to her was that Godfrey planned to make a knight from the boss and the wood elf.

‘If he can consistently replicate this, then he’s a monster that can close down every single gate on Earth. Unfortunately, there’s a bit of a comma in the consistency.’

She shut her eyes. ‘This news shouldn’t get out.’

Suddenly, her phone rang. Christine saw the caller was her husband and picked up the phone.

“Is it true?”

“It is. Isolde said he closed a blue gate. This could be how his knights were made, from the bosses of each conquered dungeon, meaning there was no such thing as a permanent dungeon in the world those knights came from.” She replied.

“The entire family has their eyes on him. I’ve been receiving calls. Where is he currently?” Arthur asked.

Christine raised an eyebrow, then turned and left her room. As she came out of the hallway, she froze, holding the railing and looking down at Godfrey, who was speaking with some of their staff.

From the look of things, they wanted to prepare the ballroom. She saw the butler ascending the staircase and beckoned for him to come.

“What’s going on?”

The butler smiled. “I think he’s preparing for the Young Miss.”

Christine blinked. “What?”

“He wants to invite her for a special dance tomorrow. It’s supposed to be a secret, but he’s not really good at the preparation. But his effort is admirable, so we’re offering our aid.”

Christine laughed sweetly with her hand over her mouth.

“What’s going on?” Her husband’s voice rang.

“You won’t believe it, but…”

***

The next day, Godfrey stood outside Isolde’s room, dressed smartly in a tuxedo. Lots of female staff admired him from a distance while, to him, this normal door might as well pose a challenge like the doors to the chamber of a knight.

‘You’re right. I planned for us to at least spend a month there after what you said, but Lysander’s issue popped up. Still, I’ll make it right.’

He cleared his throat and made sure his hair was alright. After all, he knew Isolde usually had her eyes on his hair and his eyes.

He took one step forward and knocked. His heart drummed, but he shut his eyes, took a deep breath, and opened them with a smile.

‘I made sure the butler informed her of an official meeting this morning, so she should be dressed for it. That’ll—!’

The door opened at that moment, revealing Isolde. Godfrey’s eyes widened as he saw her attire. A turtleneck, skin-tight black long-sleeve top tucked into a black pleated leather skirt that stopped just before her knees.

Isolde blinked several times as she was beyond surprised to see Godfrey standing outside her door in a tuxedo.

Then, she noticed his awestruck gaze, and her cheeks gained a faint pink hue as she became a little too conscious of her attire.

At that point, Godfrey recovered and stretched forth his hand. “Come with me.”

“To where? There’s a meeting at the family dining table.”

“Then let’s go there.” Godfrey responded.

As he led her through the hallway, Isolde raised an eyebrow. “This isn’t the way to the family dining room.”

“We’ll be taking a short detour. We won’t be late.”

His reply made Isolde squint. “You’re a little overly dressed for this breakfast. Is it because you know you’re the star?” Isolde scoffed.

Godfrey looked at her from the corner of his eye, smiled inwardly, opened the door, and they both appeared at the mezzanine above the ballroom.

The room was first pitch black, but then a soft, warm white light fell on Isolde.

“You’re actually the star,” Godfrey said as the lights came on, one by one, revealing the beautifully decorated ballroom.

Isolde was dumbfounded.

Godfrey went to the bottom of the staircase and faced her, who still stood frozen at the top. “It’s just both of us. Will you let me have this dance, my lady?”

Isolde laughed softly as she held the railing with a gentle touch and descended gracefully. “Have you ever learnt how to dance with a partner?”

“I believe you’ll teach me,” Godfrey replied as he held her hand, and music flowed into the room as if it had been waiting for this moment its entire life.

Isolde made sure she kept instructing Godfrey on what to do as he kept making mistakes, and eventually one cost him falling back first to the floor.

He landed heavily on the floor, forcing him to grunt.

Isolde grimaced. ‘He could stop himself from falling. Did he do this on purpose?’ She thought, but outwardly kept telling Godfrey she was sorry before finally leaning to take his palm with the intention of lifting him up.

But the moment she held Godfrey’s hand, he pulled her down, and she fell on his chest, their faces just inches away.

Godfrey could almost feel the breath that came out of her mouth when she hit his chest flow down his throat. His adam’s apple bobbled.

Isolde smirked. “Did you plan thi—?!”

‘You shouldn’t have shown me that attractive smile,’ Godfrey said inwardly, and stopped her comment midway by sealing her soft lips with his own.

Isolde’s eyes widened in shock while Godfrey’s one arm went around her waist. The other gently rested at the back of her head, slowly pulling her even closer to him.

A kiss she didn’t see coming, even with clairvoyance!
