Chapter 164: Knight Commander Dirge
The tail slapped the giant water man, splattering water everywhere. King reformed, and the World Serpent lunged after him, destroying everything in its path.

Just the heat emanating from the serpent made the environment uninhabitable. With a loud hiss, it came from above and bit down at King, who was in the midst of water.

It swallowed him along with a great portion of water and earth, but the World Serpent couldn’t close its mouth entirely as the Sea King stuck his trident at the edge of its jaws.

Furious, the serpent slammed its head into a building, but King remained adamant. Intense steam billowed off his body due to the heat of the snake’s mouth.

‘You think that will save you?!’ Leander roared as he fused with his serpent, forcing the jaws of his summon down. The trident began to tilt as it slowly caved under the pressure.

At that moment, a portal appeared and Levi emerged, coiling itself around the World Serpent’s neck before squeezing with all its might, forcing a thunderous roar from the beast.

‘Worthless attempt!’ Leander scowled as magma poured out of his summon’s body. Percival’s leviathan was the first to be soaked in magma so hot that casual flames seemed as harmless as room temperature water compared to it.

Through King’s eyes, Percival saw the depths of the serpent’s throat glow. The heat of whatever was coming blasted King’s face, inflicting severe scorching pain that Percival himself felt through Resonance.

He could hear his leviathan’s cries outside as it continued struggling to strangle the serpent. Making up his mind, Percival made King leap into the glowing depths.

King had no regrets. He was a king, but before Percival, he had dropped his crown and chosen to be his guardian.

A great amount of water burst out of the earth, dozens of tornadoes, all of them curving and forcing their way into the serpent’s mouth.

It tried closing its jaws, but Levi tightened its grip with all its might, pushing beyond its limits to keep the serpent’s mouth open.

The serpent slammed into the earth, tilting its head against what should have been possible in an attempt to rip the Leviathan off, but it couldn’t.

Leander deactivated Fusion, landing in the flooded street amid rubble. He tried to retrieve his serpent but failed.

Before his very eyes, his summon bloated. Water erupted from different parts of its body before it exploded, blood mixed with water spraying in every direction.

Blood coated Leander’s lips as he went mad with rage at Percival, who was on one knee within King’s body. King was badly burned in multiple places, yet he still held his trident as water gently swirled around him.

The burns ran deep, pain flaring through every part of his body. Leander opened a portal behind him, and the hyena pounced, aiming for Percival’s neck.

Percival blocked it with his trident, but the serpent tail moved at great speed, aiming for the exposed neck area where magma had burned away his fine scales.

Just then, an invisible force froze its fangs an inch away from Percival’s flesh. Had it bitten, Percival would have been inflicted with the laughing venom.

Leander lifted his head and saw a graceful female knight whose helmet covered the upper half of her face, with a plume flowing from its crest down to her waist.

Her coat, fur-padded at the shoulders, fluttered as she hovered mid-air through telekinesis.

This nine-foot-tall, elegantly imposing knight lifted her staff, and Leander’s hyena was seized by an invisible force.

‘I see… so you belong to Godfrey.’ Leander’s eyes gleamed maliciously as he swiftly used Exchange. Despite the loss of his first summon weighing on him, it possessed the ability to return, so the loss wasn’t permanent.

Though it would be hatched again and become weak, that was for the future. Right now, he would take off this knight’s head.

With that in mind, Leander appeared in place of his summon and reopened the portal behind Dirge.

Dirge caught his throat, turned toward the hyena, and unleashed a banshee screech. The air burst apart; even the flood was blasted several hundred feet away. Black mist erupted from Dirge as she absorbed the life force of both, their bodies falling from the sky.

Percival looked up with the expression of one who had just survived death. He could feel that Dirge had held back in that scream, yet the effect still shook him to the core.

In the main battlefield, several dozen Agents unleashed a rain of bullets on the Vagabonds, who fought back with their own firearms as with summon against summon.

Chaos was everywhere.

From above, Thalia, fused with her summon, a peak-level King Tier with pink wings, white curly hair, and digitigrade legs protected by hard pink skin along with her forearms, provided air support.

She fired sharp white crystals from her palms that exploded into boulder-sized, spiked formations, destroying vehicles and supporting her cohort from the air.

Arden, on the other hand, pushed through the front lines while fused with a gray-skinned harpy, a humanoid summon with massive feathered wings for arms, a woman’s body, and digitigrade legs ending in eagle-like talons.

Those talons tore through bears, hounds, and wolves. Arden blitzed across the battlefield, deflecting bullets with her wings while opening clean gashes through the flesh of anyone who stood against her.

The battle was already tilting in favor of the Vagabonds, until someone landed on one knee atop an armored truck, white hair plastered to his face due to sweat.

Snow lifted his head as his butterfly dropped him and flew into the battlefield. With a single wingbeat, purple glimmer erupted, turning those who weren’t Agents into stone.

It swept across the field like a storm, dealing massive damage as many Vagabonds were petrified.

Arden’s summon flapped her wings, unleashing a gale that blew away the second wave. Seeing this, Snow rose to his feet as his Psycho Demon Butterfly unleashed a massive wave of silver glimmer.

Arden flapped her summon’s wings again, but the glimmer detonated, hurling her several dozen feet backward.

Thalia fired crystals at Snow, but he activated Aegis Shield using purple glimmer. His eyes shimmered with green glimmer, and suddenly Thalia found the entire world plunged into darkness.

In the next moment, she began to fall from a great height.

Seeing Thalia falling, a sniper aimed his rifle at her, exhaled once, and smiled.

“Got you,” he said, and fired.
